Chapter 6: Do You Know What a Local Tyrant Is?
The two of them admired the moon and enjoyed the evening breeze, engaged in joyful conversation.
However, this tranquility was abruptly shattered when someone barged into the pavilion.
“Esteemed young master, Lady Muyue is occupied today. Perhaps you could grace us with your presence another day!” a guard stepped forward to advise, blocking the way.
The newcomer glanced up, spotting the two figures seated within the pavilion.
He immediately let out a cold sneer, “By ‘occupied,’ you mean she is keeping company with this pretty boy?”
“Young master, please do not speak such nonsense!”
The guard tried to dissuade him, his heart sinking with a heavy sense of gravity, for he knew the man sitting there was Lu Changsheng.
The interloper was a young man of about twenty. His features were plain, yet his build was burly, and an air of haughty arrogance rested between his brows, showing utter disdain for everyone present.
“I am only doing this for your own good, lest your prized courtesan be swindled by a pretty face. Do you not know that this sort is most adept at sweet talk?”
“Young master, please retreat. That person is not someone you can afford to provoke!”
The guard pleaded with earnest bitterness, genuinely trying to save the young man from himself, for he was acutely aware of the terrifying entity Lu Changsheng truly was.
The young man laughed aloud. “I am Shi Feng, a direct disciple of the Profound Heaven Sect! A mere pretty boy-what is there to fear?”
“He..”
Before the guard could finish his warning, Shi Feng shoved his way forward, completely ignoring the obstruction.
The Profound Heaven Sect was one of the three great sects of Cangzhou, its status rivaling even the Cangyun Sect. Within this territory, he felt he had absolutely nothing to fear.
Lu Changsheng spared him a lazy glance but remained entirely unbothered, pouring himself another cup of wine.
Su Muyue, however, felt a flicker of surprise. It was the nature of hot-blooded youths to be impulsive and proud.
Yet, even after being insulted so directly, he showed no reaction whatsoever. His composure was almost terrifyingly profound.
“He speaks of you with such disrespect, yet you feel no anger?” Su Muyue asked softly.
Lu Changsheng took a sip. “Jealousy is merely a common human affliction. It is an objective fact that I am far more handsome than him, so why should I be angry? I cannot exactly forbid the less fortunate from feeling envious, can I?”
Su Muyue was completely taken aback by this boundless magnanimity.
By this time, Shi Feng had already reached their table. He cast a look at Su Muyue, unable to hide the raw amazement and lust in his eyes.
“Esteemed young master, my schedule is full today. Young Master Lu arrived first, so I must humbly ask for your forgiveness as I cannot entertain you,” Su Muyue said with impeccable politeness.
Shi Feng sneered, “Then tell him to leave. If he refuses, I will personally throw him out!”
Following his aggressive gaze, Su Muyue examined the newcomer; this person’s overbearing nature was truly insufferable.
“Young man, one should not act with such rampant arrogance in this life. It is exceptionally bad for your health,” Lu Changsheng spoke with the weary, profound tone of an ancient elder, having never truly placed this fool in his eyes from the very beginning.
Bang!
Shi Feng slammed his palm heavily against the stone table, sending wine sloshing onto the floor. A surging pressure erupted from his body, revealing a cultivation at the sixth layer of Spirit Accumulation.
Su Muyue felt no anxiety, only a deep, stirring curiosity as to how Lu Changsheng would resolve this.
After all, in all the time she had known him, she had never once heard of him drawing his blade.
Lu Changsheng blinked slowly. “Are you slapping the table to frighten me?”
“Slapping the table is nothing!” Shi Feng sneered, a sadistic mockery flashing in his eyes. “What could you possibly do if I simply flipped it?”
“Why don’t you try?”
With a harsh grunt, Shi Feng heaved his hand upward, directly overturning the heavy stone table.
The sharp, chaotic sounds of shattering porcelain and jade echoed consecutively through the pavilion.
A smug gleam filled Shi Feng’s eyes as he stared down with unbridled provocation. “I know you are Lu Changsheng. So what?”
Lu Changsheng finally stood up. His movements were unhurried, perfectly measured, and eerily calm.
“You know of me?”
“And what of it?”
“Then do you know what a local tyrant is?”
“Huh?”
Shi Feng raised an eyebrow, genuinely failing to grasp the concept. “What, are you going to cry for your Senior Brother to come back you up?”
“To manage a low-level liability like you, why would I ever need to dispatch my Senior Brother?”
“Heh!”
Shi Feng sneered, but before he could utter another word, radiant streaks of light tore across the sky above.
Several imposing figures descended rapidly, executing flawless Sword Riding.
“Senior Brother Changsheng!”
The newly arrived cultivators bowed deeply in unison toward Lu Changsheng.
Despite being visibly older than him, they were merely inner sect disciples, and thus respectfully addressed him as their Senior Brother!
Seeing this sudden display of authority, Shi Feng looked around, his arrogant facade cracking with utter bewilderment.
Su Muyue also watched with breathless anticipation, only to see Lu Changsheng abruptly raise a finger and point directly at Shi Feng.
“He flipped my table, inflicted severe emotional distress, and openly disparaged our Cangyun Sect!”
“What!”
The moment those words fell, the expressions of the inner disciples darkened into murderous scowls.
Shi Feng frowned, feeling the sudden, oppressive weight of their glares, but he forced himself to remain steady. “So what? Do you actually dare to strike me..”
Slap!
The word barely left his lips before a young cultivator lunged forward in a blur, viciously backhanding him across the face.
A crisp, echoing crack rang out. Shi Feng was completely stupefied, his cheek rapidly swelling with the bright red imprint of a hand.
“I am a direct disciple of the Profound Heaven Sect! You dare..”
Bang!
Before he could spit out his threat, the heavy stone table he had just overturned was hoisted up by an unseen hand and smashed violently over his head with a deafening crash.
Immediately, the group of disciples swarmed him. These men, who had seemed so gentle and calm a moment ago, instantly morphed into ferocious, bloodthirsty fiends.
Shi Feng shrieked in agony. He desperately tried to circulate his Spiritual power to resist, but was ruthlessly pinned to the floorboards.
Only then did the horrifying realization hit him-every single one of these men possessed a cultivation at the sixth or seventh layer of Spirit Accumulation.
Against a coordinated, high-level mob beating, he didn’t stand a sliver of a chance.
The lackeys who had accompanied him were swiftly dragged into the circle and brutally pulverized as well.
Lu Changsheng, meanwhile, took a leisurely stroll to the sidelines. He stood there quietly, watching the savage beatdown with a bright, immensely satisfied corporate smile.
No one understood the operational logistics of this territory better than he did.
Cangyun City rested directly at the foot of the Cangyun Sect. Every single month, an Elder led a patrol of disciples to maintain security, monitoring the city’s grid with flawless surveillance.
The exact second Shi Feng flipped that table, the patrolling Elder had been alerted.
Logically, they would never intervene in such a petty squabble-but Lu Changsheng was a premium VIP asset.
Who didn’t know he was Zhou Qingyu’s precious Junior Brother? Even if they didn’t care about Lu Changsheng’s face, they had to pay dividends to Zhou Qingyu’s reputation.
Furthermore, while Lu Changsheng rarely engaged in honest work, his public relations were impeccable.
He took excellent care of the grassroots staff. Whenever they encountered cultivation bottlenecks, he would effortlessly leverage his Senior Brother’s expertise to provide free premium consulting.
Yet this Shi Feng, banking on his flashy title, had actually thought he could provoke Lu Changsheng. Even if the two had engaged in an honorable duel, as long as no one died, the sect would have turned a blind eye.
He never anticipated that his opponent possessed zero martial honor and would instantly outsource the violence to a roving hit squad.
By slapping him with the political crime of ‘disrespecting the Cangyun Sect,’ Lu Changsheng had legally authorized a mob to beat him into a pulp.
“Lu Changsheng, you wretch..”
Shi Feng roared through broken teeth.
Lu Changsheng waved a hand lazily. “Gag his mouth and keep strictly to the beating schedule. It is time we properly showcase the majestic glory of our Cangyun Sect!”
Hearing the directive, the disciples enthusiastically complied.
Su Muyue stood off to the side, completely dazed. She had been so curious as to how he would brilliantly outmaneuver this crisis.
Yet even if she wracked her brain until she went bald, she never could have predicted this outcome.
Unmoved by provocation, seemingly devoid of a single drop of martial blood, entirely discarding the Dao of honor to summon a gang for a curb-stomp.
Was this the majestic glory of the Cangyun Sect?
Of course, Lu Changsheng didn’t care about the optics of the assault, so long as the casualty rate remained at zero. Dead bodies brought messy paperwork.
Instead, his gaze inadvertently swept toward the distant shadows.
The moment Shi Feng had arrived, Lu Changsheng had habitually deployed his divine sense to scan the perimeter, only to discover several hidden entities intensely surveilling the pavilion.
And it wasn’t just one person-they were all formidable experts at the Core Formation stage.
According to Cangyun Sect protocol, any Core Formation cultivator trespassing on their territory was required to officially register. Failure to comply flagged them as hostile invaders.
The Cangyun Sect would dispatch executioners, and survival was decidedly not guaranteed.
And recently, absolutely no one had filed the proper immigration paperwork.
Calculating the variables, Lu Changsheng withdrew his gaze. Seeing that the physical lesson had reached an optimal threshold, he ordered the trash to be thrown out.
He politely excused himself, bidding Su Muyue a fond farewell before departing the establishment.
However, the instant he stepped out of sight, his presence vanished like a phantom. In the span of a single breath, he materialized directly adjacent to the concealed Core Formation experts!
One at the fourth layer of Core Formation, two at the third layer. Just what exactly are they plotting?
Lu Changsheng hovered in the suffocating darkness, his eyes as cold and lifeless as an abyss as he silently analyzed his prey.
He absolutely would not permit any hostile assets to threaten his sect. His emotional attachment to his organization was incredibly profound.
After all, this Cultivation world was ruthlessly lethal. If the sect went bankrupt, where the hell was he supposed to live rent-free? Who else was going to provide him with premium, ironclad protection?
