Chapter 302: Dragon Abyss Water Spirit Seal
The moment he drew near, a powerful repulsive force met him. The already churning currents intensified into a violent torrent.
Seeing this, Jiang Chen changed his approach.
He switched to fire-elemental energy, unleashing a wave of intense heat to evaporate the water. Yet, not only did this fail, it seemed to provoke the spring, causing it to gush forth with even greater volume. The clear water erupted outwards, expanding its reach and strengthening its impact.
Jiang Chen’s eyebrow twitched. He immediately shifted to earth-elemental energy. As expected, this time it worked.
Enveloped by the dense, heavy power of the earth, the spring water was gradually absorbed and neutralized, finally revealing the jade slip nestled within.
He snatched it from the water. On its surface were four elegant characters: Nine Transformations of the Wandering Dragon.
It appeared to be a water-attribute cultivation technique or art of some unknown grade.
Jiang Chen attempted to probe it with his spiritual sense, but it was like striking solid stone—there was no reaction whatsoever. He couldn’t help but ponder, Looks like this requires water-elemental energy to activate. I’ll have to store it in the gourd for now.
With a flick of his wrist, he put the jade slip away.
He had intended to leave, but his gaze fell upon the spot where the spring had been. The clear water, which he had just suppressed with earth energy, was still bubbling up relentlessly, even beginning to push aside the earthen barrier.
This was, without a doubt, another treasure.
Jiang Chen wasn’t about to miss it. He first thought of collecting it in his Hydro Orb, but a quick check revealed it was already filled to the brim with black water, leaving no room.
A new idea formed. Reaching out, he laid a hand on the mass of bubbling water, and in the next instant, both he and the spring vanished from the spot.
With a disorienting lurch, they materialized inside his personal space.
Jiang Chen took a deep breath of the fresh air, his mind already calculating. “The Spirit Farm needs water. I was planning to dig a large pond and create irrigation channels, but this is far more suitable.”
He casually found a spot and placed the perpetual spring there for the time being. He still had the rest of the Water Spirit Palace to explore, so a proper setup could wait. There was no rush; he would deal with it after returning to his stone house.
With another flash, Jiang Chen departed his personal space, reappearing exactly where he had been moments before.
Now, the ruins before him were completely inert, devoid of any spiritual fluctuations. It seemed all the treasures had been claimed.
Jiang Chen’s gaze swept across the area, extending toward the more distant parts of the complex. The entire Water Spirit Palace was massive. Beyond the main palace lay several smaller, auxiliary halls.
Since he was already here, he might as well be thorough. It wasn’t like he was in a hurry to return.
He began to move with a deliberate pace, swimming from one hall to the next. Even if a building emitted no spiritual energy, he would still peer inside, leaving no stone unturned.
An unknown amount of time passed before he finally reached the deepest part of the ruins.
It was clear this structure had once stood two stories tall, towering over the surrounding buildings. Though it had long since collapsed, the remnants of a grand staircase leading upward were still visible.
Just as he was about to turn away, his spiritual sense brushed against an object of a peculiar shape. It emitted no fluctuations and could have easily been dismissed as debris.
But with Jiang Chen’s… acquisitive nature—or rather, his love for exploration—he naturally had to investigate.
He immediately slipped through a gap in the rubble.
The first floor was completely obliterated; almost nothing remained intact. The second floor was in slightly better condition. While two-thirds of it was gone, the final third clung precariously to existence, looking as if it might disintegrate at any moment.
And it was within this final, fragile section that the strangely shaped object lay.
Jiang Chen shoved aside a heavy wooden beam, clearing a space just large enough for him to move. There, on a tilted writing desk, rested the object.
Its top was an irregular rhombus, while its base was shaped like a seal. The entire artifact resembled an imperial jade seal, glowing with a soft, blue-purple halo. Within its crystalline depths, azure waves seemed to ripple, as if it contained an entire lake. It was roughly the size of a grown man’s palm.
Suddenly, Jiang Chen’s eyes widened.
He spotted three incredibly familiar objects embedded in the top of the seal.
Space Earth Element Fruits!
It was common knowledge that these fruits had two primary uses: to be refined into a personal storage space or to be used as a core material for spatial teleportation.
The fact that this seal-like object contained not one, but three of them, meant one of two things. It was either a portable dimension, or it was a device capable of teleportation. Of course, with three fruits refined into it, it might very well possess both abilities.
His heart hammered against his ribs. It’s a good thing I found its shape odd enough to investigate. Otherwise, I would have missed the real prize.
It was all clear now. The Water Spirit Pearl, the Nine Transformations of the Wandering Dragon, the perpetual spring—they were all just decoys. The true treasure, the most valuable item in these ruins, was this “seal” that appeared utterly inert but was, in fact, extraordinary in both its form and its essence.
Jiang Chen started to move toward it, but a flicker of caution stopped him.
He couldn’t afford to be reckless. What if it was trapped? The consequences could be disastrous.
He mulled it over, his mind racing, until his eyes lit up. A bold, audacious idea took shape.
This way, there’s no danger, and I won’t miss the treasure!
Without hesitation, Jiang Chen placed both hands on a massive pillar that had been snapped in two. With a single, focused thought, the world outside blurred. In the span of a breath, both he and the colossal ruins of the Water Spirit Palace vanished without a trace.
All that remained was a vast, empty crater on the lakebed, and a few large fish staring blankly at the space where a palace had once stood.
***
With a deafening BOOM, the Water Spirit Palace crashed onto the Spirit Farm inside his personal space. The very ground trembled from the impact. The ten Dragon Carp in his pond, startled by the cataclysm, darted into the deepest water to hide.
Jiang Chen hovered above, looking down at the transplanted ruins with a cold smirk. “Now that you’re in my domain, I can take my time with you.”
By bringing it here, he had isolated it from the outside world completely. His personal space was his private sanctuary. Without his permission, no one could enter, and nothing could leave.
Only then did he descend and finally pick up the seal-like object.
It was icy to the touch, radiating a faint chill.
But there were no spiritual fluctuations.
No hidden risks.
No problems whatsoever.
The only surprise was its weight. It was far heavier than he had imagined. Not just heavy, but unnaturally dense. It wasn’t a matter of dozens or even hundreds of pounds—it weighed well over a thousand.
The top was an irregular rhombus, inlaid with the three Space Earth Element Fruits. The base was a liquid-like blue-purple, and ripples were visible within when he tilted it.
Jiang Chen turned it over to inspect the bottom. Sure enough, several lines of elegant script were carved into its surface. He subconsciously read them aloud:
“The Great Void sunders the abyss, Earth’s Core anchors the domain.
Dragon Marrow crystallizes, the Water Spirit returns to the seal.
A Nine-Dimensional Star Chart forges a celestial path, Three Heads and Six Arms pacify the Eight Desolates.
Lend me the Void’s power within, reveal the coordinates of Heaven and Earth.”
Bestowed Name—Dragon Abyss Water Spirit Seal!
