He’ll use his past life’s cunning business sense to exploit every loophole, monopolize resources, and quietly build his fortune. Others might chase power, but Jiang Chen will meticulously farm his way to the pinnacle, one Mutated Spirit Rice grain at a time.

Chapter 265: The Pond is Done

The excavation was complete.

Tie Zhu sat on the bank, wiping sweat from his brow. The pond wasn’t massive—just large enough for a single cultivator to manage—but looking at the neat, rectangular pit, he felt a surge of pride. This was Senior Brother Jiang’s pond, and that made it important.

Nearby, Han Xin was finishing her work. She had expanded the Mirror Flower Water Moon Array and the Five Elements Four Seasons Formation, stretching their coverage from a single acre to a whopping seven. It was future-proofing on a grand scale.

Such an expansion would have bankrupted the old Jiang Chen. But for the current Spirit Nurturing Envoy, earning nearly a thousand Mid-grade Spirit Stones a month, the cost was negligible.

“Alright,” Han Xin announced, dusting off her hands. “The foundation is set. Now for the aquatic arrays.”

She deployed three specialized formations:

Water Gathering Formation: Draws subterranean moisture to maintain water levels.

Spirit Water Formation: Slowly infuses the pond with Spirit Qi, mutating normal water into low-grade Spirit Water.

Water Purification Formation: Automatically filters toxins and waste, keeping the ecosystem clean.

By late afternoon, the invisible runes were humming with power.

“My turn,” Mo Yu said, stepping up to the bank.

He channeled his Water Spirit Qi, casting the Minor Rain Technique. A dark, localized storm cloud gathered overhead, rumbling with low thunder.

Patter. Patter.

Bean-sized raindrops fell, hitting the dry earth with a rhythmic drumming. As the water accumulated, it turned into a muddy slurry, but the Purification Formation kicked in, slowly clarifying the liquid. Within an hour, the pond was a third full. By dusk, it was ready.

Just as the sun touched the horizon, Jin Fugui arrived on his camel, his timing for free food as impeccable as ever.

“Dinner!” Jiang Chen called out from the stone house.

The meal was a feast worthy of celebration:

A basin of Pickled Cabbage Stewed with Spirit Pork.

A pot of Braised Spirit Mutton with Potatoes.

A platter of Tea Tree Mushrooms Fried with Spirit Chicken.

Endless jugs of Top-quality Spirit Wine.

“To hard work,” Jiang Chen toasted.

“Cheers!” the group roared.

The atmosphere was light, filled with laughter and the clinking of cups. They traded stories, roasted each other, and enjoyed the rare camaraderie of the cultivation world.

As the hour of the Dog (9 PM) approached, the guests began to leave.

“It’s late,” Tie Zhu said, swaying slightly. “Senior Sister Han… could I catch a ride back to the Earth Vein on your shuttle?”

Han Xin blinked, a crooked smile spreading across her Face. “Are you sure?”

Jiang Chen, Mo Yu, and Jin Fugui exchanged horrified glances. Tie Zhu, still riding the high of the meal, was oblivious to the danger. He didn’t know the legend of Han Xin’s drunk driving.

“Absolutely!” Tie Zhu chirped.

They walked to the edge of the field where Han Xin’s battered black shuttle was still nose-down in a ditch. Tie Zhu hesitated for a fraction of a second, but then shrugged and hopped on.

“Goodbye, everyone!” he waved.

The shuttle shot into the sky like a firework. It started straight, then immediately began to corkscrew wildly.

“Old Mo,” Jiang Chen said urgently. “Follow them. I don’t want to visit Tie Zhu in the infirmary again.”

Mo Yu nodded grimly, summoning a Paper Crane and giving chase.

Jiang Chen turned to Jin Fugui. “Thanks for the livestock.”

Jin Fugui handed him a Spirit Beast Storage Bag. “One Light Spirit Turtle and a Sect of Red-tailed Carp. Treat them well.”

CRASH.

A deafening boom echoed from the nearby forest.

Jiang Chen sighed. “And there it is.”

They flew to the crash site. The black shuttle had plowed through a five-meter tree and buried itself in the loam. Mo Yu was already there, hauling a traumatized Tie Zhu out of the wreckage.

“I… I want to walk,” Tie Zhu sobbed, clinging to Mo Yu. “I’ll walk back. Even if it takes a week.”

Han Xin crawled out of the crater, hiccupped, and flipped them all the middle finger.
