Wang Hao turned his attention to the fourth plot of Gold Soil.
[Status: Mystic Wonder Fruit Tree]
Stage: Seed
Progress: 03 Months, 10 Days until Germination.
This tree was the linchpin of his future plans for his spirit beasts. The Mystic Wonder Fruit was far more potent than any Beast Nurturing Pill; it possessed the rare ability to awaken and purify ancient bloodlines. If news of this fruit leaked to the outside world, it wouldn’t just be cultivators knocking on his door—Great Demons from the wilderness would tear the mountain apart to get it.
Next, he checked the Jasper Moon Fruit.
This treasure normally required a century to mature, but in Wang Hao’s farm, he could harvest a batch in just over a year.
In the past, Wang Hao hoarded these treasures, fearful of exposing the existence of his miraculous farm. But times had changed. The family was in imminent danger. The storm of war was gathering, and hoarding resources while his clan teetered on the brink of annihilation was foolish.
He decided to harvest a few Jasper Moon Fruits immediately.
He mentally scanned his candidates. Wang Yanzhi and Wang Wenyuan had only recently reached Foundation Establishment; their foundations were too unstable to handle the potent surge of energy. Wang Yanzhi was also recovering from injuries.
The other experts were stationed overseas.
That left only two suitable candidates: his father, Wang Yanzhao, and his Sixth Granduncle, Wang Longyou.
According to the records, a single Jasper Moon Fruit could save ten years of bitter cultivation. It should be enough to push Wang Yanzhao to the Mid-Stage and Wang Longyou to the Late-Stage of Foundation Establishment.
As for the Essence Condensing Fruits and Righteousness Lotuses—staples that had supported him for years—he had stopped planting them. His warehouse was already stocked with over a hundred Essence Condensing Fruits. If refined into Foundation Establishment Pills, that stash alone could support the recruitment needs of a medium-sized Golden Core sect.
He reviewed his land allocation. Currently, he had four plots of Gold Soil, twelve of Black Soil, and fourteen of Red Soil.
The Black Soil, with its forty-fold growth acceleration, was dedicated to war logistics. He planted Azure Cloud Grass, the primary material for mid-grade first-rank talismans. A batch would be ready in half a year.
The Red Soil handled the bulk supplies:
Crimson Blood Ginseng (2 acres): Primarily for brewing Spirit Wine. This wine wasn’t just for trade; it served as a combat consumable for the clan’s Qi Refining disciples, restoring spiritual power mid-battle.
Hundred-Fragrance Spirit Fruit (1 acre): Used to brew Second-Rank Spirit Wine, specifically for the family’s Foundation Establishment cultivators.
Purple Cloud Grass (1 plot): Unlike the common Azure variety, this could grow to high-grade first-rank quality. It took longer—six months—but produced superior talisman paper.
Golden Thread Spirit Apricot (1 acre): The Wang family’s staple spirit fruit. After generations of refining the cultivation method, it was the most efficient dietary supplement for the younger disciples.
Red Scale Wood & Purple Yin Pine: Materials for spirit charcoal and puppet bodies, respectively.
Finally, there were the special projects.
He had planted the Soul-Falling Flower and the Void Spirit Bamboo obtained from the Pill Cauldron Sect.
The Void Spirit Bamboo was particularly exciting. Currently, he only had one stalk, enough for a single flying sword. But Wang Hao had ambitions. He wanted to emulate “Old Demon Han”—the Grandmaster transmigrator hero—and cultivate a massive set of flying swords for a sword array. To that end, he dedicated an entire acre to propagating the bamboo.
The Soul-Falling Flower was insurance. It was a critical ingredient for healing soul injuries, a rare and expensive commodity. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
He also kept an acre of Spirit Peaches for the Phantom Moon Butterfly, though Xiaobai and Yaya turned their noses up at fruit, preferring the bloody texture of demon beast meat.
Review complete. Wang Hao nodded in satisfaction. At full capacity, his farm could single-handedly sustain the logistics of the entire clan.
Wang Hao plucked two ripe Jasper Moon Fruits from his inventory and sent out a voice transmission.
Moments later, two beams of light landed outside his cave dwelling. Wang Yanzhao and Wang Longyou walked in, looking curious.
“You called for us in such a rush,” Wang Yanzhao asked, dusting off his robes. “Is there an emergency?”
Wang Hao smiled brightly. “Not an emergency. A windfall.”
He tossed a storage bag onto the table.
“I was going through the loot from the Maple Leaf Market cultivators and found something interesting. Two Jasper Moon Fruits. Consuming one is equivalent to ten years of hard cultivation.”
The two elders froze. Wang Longyou was the first to react, his eyes widening. “Is that… are you serious?”
“Sixth Granduncle, would I joke about cultivation resources?”
Wang Yanzhao frowned, skepticism written all over his face. “Are you sure you didn’t identify them wrong? Why would anyone from Maple Leaf Market carry such priceless treasures into a battle where they might die?”
“I bought one at an overseas auction years ago,” Wang Hao lied smoothly, not missing a beat. “I know the aura, the texture, the smell. I can’t be mistaken.”
He pulled the two fruits from the bag and held them out. The air in the cave instantly filled with a thick, sweet fragrance that made their pores open and their spiritual power hum.
“See for yourselves. Can a fake produce this kind of pressure?”
The skepticism vanished from their faces, replaced by awe. The raw spiritual energy radiating from the fruits was undeniable. Just inhaling the scent made their stagnant cultivation bottlenecks loosen slightly.
“Well?” Wang Hao grinned at their stunned expressions. “Genuine goods at a fair price. Given the family’s precarious situation, every bit of strength counts. Father, Granduncle, you should enter seclusion immediately. Refine these fruits and break through. We need the power.”
The two elders exchanged glances. One had been stuck at the Early Stage for years; the other had hit a wall at the Mid-Stage. The desire for strength burned in their eyes, but duty held them back.
“If we both go into seclusion,” Wang Yanzhao said, furrowing his brow, “who will handle the family affairs?”
“Will the sky collapse without you?” Wang Hao rolled his eyes. “Uncle Yanzhi and Wenyuan are still here. And I’m not exactly incompetent. besides, with everyone huddled in Green Bull Market, business has slowed to a crawl. It’s actually easier to manage now.”
Wang Longyou stroked his beard, considering. “That is true. Give this old man half a year… and I am confident I can reach the Late Foundation Establishment stage!”
“And you, Old Wang?” Wang Hao looked at his father with a teasing glint in his eye. “You reached Foundation Establishment ten years before I did, yet now I’ve left you in the dust. Don’t you feel a little competitive?”
“You smelly brat!” Wang Yanzhao laughed, swatting at him. “Fine! If my son is giving orders, I’ll listen. I’ll go into seclusion.”
He paused, his expression turning serious. “However, we cannot simply take these. Count them as your contribution to the clan. Your Granduncle and I will exchange our Contribution Points for them.”
Wang Longyou nodded firmly. “Correct. We cannot let Wang Hao suffer a loss for the public good. I have accumulated points for over a century; it should be enough.”
Wang Yanzhao was a bit shorter on points—raising a family was expensive, and he had poured resources into Wang Hao back in the day—but the sentiment stood. If he didn’t have enough, he would owe the debt.
“It’s settled then. No time to delay,” Wang Yanzhao stored the fruit carefully. He hesitated at the door, looking back at Wang Hao.
“While I am away… I leave the family to you. And, ah… please keep an eye on Wenyue. Give her some guidance. She is your sister, after all.”
Wang Yanzhao looked uncharacteristically awkward.
His parenting track record wasn’t exactly stellar. His children with Li Dexi had average talent and even less ambition. He was starting to realize the problem might not be the children, but the father.
His youngest daughter, Wang Wenyue, had recently tested positive for a Dual Spirit Root—Metal and Water. It was a fantastic talent, but the Wang family lacked suitable cultivation techniques for her attributes.
Wang Yanzhao didn’t trust himself to teach her. And his wife? She was a gentle soul, but as the saying went, a doting mother spoils the child.
“Send her to the Transmission Hall,” Wang Yanzhao sighed. “Let her study with the other disciples. But if you could spare some time… having you as a role model might actually help her make something of herself.”
