Chapter 216: Fireball Bombardment
Seeing Gu Can nearly cleaved in two, his body flung like a broken doll into the dirt, something inside Qin Lu snapped.
The pragmatic, calculating cultivator vanished. In his place was a creature of pure, incandescent rage. His eyes burned with the fury of a cornered lion.
“Damn you!”
Qin Lu roared, his silhouette flickering as he vanished from his spot. He reappeared mid-air, his right fist wreathed in roaring flames. He didn’t hold back. He punched forward, channeling every ounce of his hatred into the spell.
BOOM!
The flames exploded from his knuckles, expanding instantly into a colossal fireball over a hundred meters wide. It screamed through the air like a falling star, aimed straight at the heart of the evil formation.
“Tch.”
The Blood Demon sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. “Is that all?”
With a flick of his mind, the blood-colored phantom raised a massive hand and swatted the fireball.
Poof!
The giant sphere of fire shattered on impact, dispersing into a harmless rain of sparks.
But Qin Lu wasn’t done. His heart was a furnace of killing intent. One attack wasn’t enough. Ten weren’t enough. He wanted to burn them all to ash.
“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”
His arms became a blur. He cast the [Ignition Technique] again and again, defying all logic of cooldowns and mana limits.
Inside the market, he had held back to avoid collateral damage. Here, in the desolate wilderness, there were no such constraints.
One after another, hundred-meter suns bloomed in the sky, hammering down on the blood phantom like the wrath of god.
BOOM—! BOOM—! BOOM—!
The earth shook. The shockwaves were so intense that the surrounding blood mist began to destabilize, flickering ominously.
The Blood Demon’s sneer vanished. His expression hardened into a grimace as he was forced to dodge and weave, using the phantom to swat away the relentless bombardment.
The other evil cultivators stared in horror.
“What is this?!” “How is he casting that fast?!” “Does he have infinite Spiritual Qi?!”
It defied common sense. A mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator shouldn’t have the reserves for this. But the fireballs kept coming, endless and overwhelming.
“What kind of monster is this kid?!” the Blood Demon snarled, retreating step by step. He couldn’t even get close enough to counterattack.
Behind Qin Lu, Jiang Ge and the surviving defenders watched with slack jaws. They had expected a fight, but this? This was a one-man artillery barrage.
Suddenly, the red mist enclosing them trembled violently.
RIIIIIIP!
A sound like tearing canvas echoed across the battlefield. Everyone turned to look.
A massive tear appeared in the barrier. Through the gap, four figures rushed in—reinforcements from White Jade Market who had lagged behind.
Leading them was Gu Yue.
“Xiao Can!”
She spotted her brother’s broken body instantly and rushed to his side, ignoring the battle raging above.
The other three joined Jiang Ge’s formation.
“Reinforcements!” Jiang Ge shouted, his spirit reigniting. “Fellow Daoists! Follow Qin Lu! Kill them all!”
Qin Lu felt the shift in momentum. With support, they might actually win this.
He didn’t stop casting. He was a machine, hurling skyscraper-sized fireballs with mechanical precision. The ground below was already a sea of magma and ash.
Since advancing to the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment, Qin Lu’s Spiritual Qi reserves had undergone a qualitative leap. At full capacity, he could cast low-level spells over five hundred times. Even tired as he was, he still had two hundred shots left in the tank.
The relentless pressure was taking its toll. The blood phantom was dimming, its edges fraying under the heat.
“What kind of freak are you?!”
The Blood Demon’s face was soot-stained and twisted with frustration. He was being cooked alive inside his own formation.
“You’re the monsters!”
Qin Lu screamed back, hurling a cluster of three fireballs simultaneously.
The new arrivals joined the barrage, adding their own spells to the mix. The combined firepower was devastating.
Taking advantage of the cover, Qin Lu paused to swallow a Spiritual Qi recovery pill. He was down to twenty percent. Without the team, he would have burned out minutes ago.
He glanced down. Gu Yue was kneeling over Gu Can, her hands glowing with healing light as she desperately tried to close his horrific wounds. Her face was pale with terror.
Qin Lu’s heart clenched. The Gu siblings were the closest thing to family he had in this world. seeing them like this… it was unforgivable.
His rage spiked again.
BOOM! BANG!
The indiscriminate bombardment finally shattered the hidden artifacts anchoring the trap. With a mournful wail, the red mist evaporated, revealing the clear blue sky above.
The trap was broken.
But the battle wasn’t over. The defenders were panting, their energy reserves critically low.
The blood phantom, though battered, was still standing. It had dodged the worst of the damage.
“Heh… heheh!”
The Blood Demon, safe in the eye of the storm, saw their exhaustion. His confidence returned in a rush.
” Is that it? Are you dry already?” He laughed coldly. “My formation can sustain this form for two hours. Let’s see how long you last!”
