There were men and women, with all kinds of spiritual roots.
After all, there were only two ways to leave the Cloud Sea Sect. First, the cross-domain teleportation array. Second, long-distance flying spiritual artifacts or magical instruments.
For the vast majority of formal disciples, the teleportation array was too expensive. Activating it once required at least 1 Mid-grade Spirit Stone. Therefore, flying spiritual artifacts became the first choice.
Compared to the teleportation array, they offered the best value for money. It wasn’t that Paper Cranes or land-based spirit beasts were unusable; they were just too slow. For the same distance, a flying spiritual artifact took only one shichen. Whereas a Paper Crane or a land-based spirit beast would take at least five shichen.
Anyone would know which to choose.
“He doesn’t seem to respect you very much?”
Wang Hu narrowed his eyes, staring straight at Jiang Chen’s retreating back. Hearing the words of the person beside him, he didn’t say much. He just revealed a meaningful, cold smile.
Suddenly, the giant flying sword beneath everyone jolted violently.
Immediately after, the male Metal Spiritual Root disciple standing at the tip of the sword spoke. “Fellow Daoists, Giant Flying Sword No. 1145 is about to depart from the Sword Pavilion. Please do not move around recklessly, run, jump, or leave. Otherwise, you bear the consequences.”
Jiang Chen and Tie Zhu exchanged a glance and immediately steadied themselves.
Soon, the vibrations from the giant flying sword beneath them became increasingly noticeable. The lines and patterns on it lit up one after another as if energy was being injected into them.
Not long after, the originally docked giant flying sword slowly started up. Once it completely left the Sword Pavilion, there was only a whoosh sound.
Like a golden streak of light, it shot forward at an extremely high speed.
Strangely enough, despite the high speed, everyone remained unaffected. They couldn’t feel any wind or turbulence at all.
Jiang Chen saw this and thought to himself, Formations.
Each giant flying sword was probably like those flying shuttles, boats, and ships—equipped with various protective formations on board. After all, this was at an altitude of over a thousand meters. If an accident happened, everyone would undoubtedly die. Therefore, there was no room for error.
The giant flying sword was as fast as lightning and swift as thunderclouds. Birds and anything else in front one moment were left far behind the next.
Before long, they encountered a flock of birds ahead. Dense and numerous, they looked like a large dark cloud.
Faced with this situation, the giant flying sword didn’t avoid them but charged straight through. A continuous series of tearing sounds rang out. Any bird that made contact couldn’t withstand it at all, instantly turning into a bloody mist.
“It’s far superior to a Paper Crane.” Jiang Chen was utterly shocked.
An hour passed in the blink of an eye. The speed of the giant flying sword gradually slowed down. A small city appeared before everyone.
In the very center of the city stood a towering tree. Its height alone was at least a thousand meters. Its branches were lush and leaves abundant, full of verdant life. Many birds and beasts could be seen moving within it.
Tie Zhu whispered, “Senior Brother, we have arrived at the rogue cultivator market.”
Jiang Chen asked in surprise, “This tree?”
Tie Zhu explained, “The master of this Green City Tree and this Green City is a Golden Core Perfected Master. His name is Master Sen; everyone respectfully calls him Perfected Master Wang. Everything here, especially the rogue cultivator market, belongs to him.”
Hearing it was a Golden Core Perfected Master, Jiang Chen couldn’t help but view him with newfound respect. After all, how difficult life was for rogue cultivators was plain for all to see.
Not long after, the giant flying sword docked at a flying ferry port.
At this moment, the Metal Spiritual Root male disciple said, “I will stay here for one shichen. If you miss it, come back at this time tomorrow.”
“Alright, thank you, Fellow Daoist!” Many people cupped their hands in salute. Then they disembarked from here—especially Jiang Chen, Tie Zhu, Wang Hu, and others.
Leaving the flying ferry port, everyone stood at a fork in the road.
The towering Green City Tree not far away emanated rich Wood Spiritual Energy. Jiang Chen even thought that when his Spirit Farm’s spiritual energy was insufficient, he could come here to cultivate.
Tie Zhu pointed to the left and said, “Senior Brother, the main street of the rogue cultivator market is this way.”
Upon arriving at the main street, Jiang Chen found it similar to Red Leaf Valley’s market square. The only difference was that the quality varied greatly. Most of the items were of relatively low quality. In Red Leaf Valley’s market square, such things wouldn’t sell at all. But here in Green City’s rogue cultivator market, quite a few people were buying them.
Jiang Chen could understand; after all, rogue cultivators and external cultivation families themselves had scarce resources. Having something to buy was already good enough.
But the prices were very strange. Some were surprisingly low. Others were absurdly high. For example, Tier-1 Spirit Rice had a ratio of 1:5 in the Cloud Sea Sect, but here it was 1:7. Yet for Tier-2 Spirit Rice, it was actually similar to the Cloud Sea Sect’s price.
Jiang Chen thought to himself, Isn’t this place heaven for me?
In the Cloud Sea Sect, because of the Harvest Alliance’s existence, he didn’t dare sell indiscriminately. But here, he didn’t need to be on edge; he could even do as he pleased.
At this moment, they arrived at a Spirit Rice Trading Point.
Tie Zhu immediately said, “Senior Brother, I’m going in to exchange some Spirit Rice. What about you?”
Jiang Chen shrugged. “I’ll look around.”
“Alright, if anything happens, call me with a communication talisman.” Tie Zhu nodded, then walked toward the counter inside.
Seeing this, Jiang Chen wasn’t in a hurry to sell his stored Tier-2 Spirit Rice. Instead, he wandered around, thoroughly investigating prices.
The entire rogue cultivator market had more than one such Spirit Rice Trading Point. But their prices were surprisingly uniform, with no difference at all. It seemed as if they had agreed on it beforehand.
Actually, that made sense because currently, the Cloud Sea Sect’s prices were insanely high. Many Spirit Farmers came here to sell. If each trading point had different prices, it would definitely cause chaos.
“This Fellow Daoist clearly looks like an immortal sect disciple.” Suddenly, a middle-aged man blocked his path.
This man wasn’t tall, with a thin build. He wore a long gown made of silk. There were clear spiritual energy fluctuations; obviously, he was a cultivator.
Jiang Chen raised an eyebrow noncommittally. “Is there something?”
The middle-aged man smiled slightly. “I am Shen Ping, manager of a small cultivation family in Green City. May I ask which immortal sect Fellow Daoist is from? Do you need any assistance?”
Jiang Chen said indifferently, “Is there actually something or not?”
Shen Ping paused, then continued smiling. “If Fellow Daoist wishes to sell something, I am willing to give it a try.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chen narrowed his eyes, pondered for a moment, then asked, “My humble name is Han Fei. How did you tell I’m from an immortal sect?”
“So it’s Fellow Daoist Han.” Shen Ping’s eyes lit up, then he explained, “If they were rogue cultivators, upon arriving here they would be extremely cautious, afraid of causing trouble. Only you immortal sect disciples are each calm and composed, even arrogant and domineering. You simply don’t put us rogue cultivators in your eyes, so naturally, one can tell.”
Jiang Chen silently noted this explanation, resolving to disguise himself next time he came, then asked, “I have some Spirit Rice here. Do you want it?”
Upon hearing ‘Spirit Rice,’ Shen Ping asked excitedly, “What tier?”
“Tier-2.”
Shen Ping immediately widened his eyes, then said excitedly, “As expected of an immortal sect disciple! Fellow Daoist Han, I’ll take however much you have!”
After recent consumption and rentals, Jiang Chen still had over 4,000 jin of Tier-2 Spirit Rice on hand, but he couldn’t sell it all in one go. Therefore, raising five fingers on his right hand, he said, “500 jin.”
500 jin of Tier-2 Spirit Rice wouldn’t be considered much within an immortal sect. But this was a rogue cultivator market. The person before him was merely a member of a small cultivation family. For them, being able to eat Tier-1 Spirit Rice was already good enough. Tier-2 Spirit Rice they could only have a bite of during holidays or someone’s birthday.
Jiang Chen waved his hand, interrupting, “I can’t possibly sell it to you at the rogue cultivator market price.”
Shen Ping was dumbfounded. “Your ratio is somewhat…”
Jiang Chen sneered coldly. “The ratio might be low, but mine is Top-quality Spirit Rice!”
Upon hearing this, Shen Ping’s pupils contracted sharply. “If that’s truly the case, I’m willing to buy it all at this ratio!”
He came here every day, interacting with immortal sect disciples, just wanting to build good relations and obtain better resources. He never expected today he actually hit the jackpot!
