Chapter 207: Situ Yan’s Invitation
Several days later.
By the time Qi Yuan emerged from his cultivation trance, the sun was already high in the sky.
He hadn’t been idle. Aside from “studying transformation techniques” with a certain demoness, he had spent most of his time practicing the foundational demonic art, the Seven Evils True Devil Art.
It wasn’t that he wanted to join the dark side. He just had no choice.
As the Holy Scion of the Supreme Mystery Sanctuary, Qi Yuan’s original cultivation techniques were righteous, majestic, and full of holy light. In the Demon Sect, that was a death sentence. If he fought someone and unleashed a wave of glittering, righteous Qi while everyone else was throwing black skulls and blood mist, he’d be exposed instantly.
His current strategy was simple: don’t fight. If violence was unavoidable, use physical strength or the Abyssal Condensation Sword for a quick kill.
But with the Moluo God-Slaughtering Tower trial approaching in a month, he would have to fight publicly. He needed a disguise.
So, he grit his teeth and practiced the demonic art. He didn’t intend to master it—just enough to coat his attacks in a layer of convincing black smog.
“I didn’t expect the Seven Evils True Devil Art to be so easy. I picked it up in a few days. Am I… naturally suited for evil?”
Qi Yuan shuddered. “Bah! Nonsense. I’m just a genius. I learn everything fast. A mere demonic manual can’t shake my Dao Heart.”
He stretched, planning to cultivate until nightfall before teleporting back to the Supreme Mystery Sanctuary. Tonight was the big reunion with the Spirit Grass Gang. The net was ready to close.
Suddenly, a communication talisman in his storage bracelet vibrated.
Situ Yun? What does he want?
Qi Yuan raised an eyebrow but injected a sliver of spiritual power into the talisman.
Situ Yun’s hearty voice boomed out.
“Brother Qi! About the other day… I was short-sighted and ignorant! I never expected you to survive such a disaster unscathed! Truly, fortune favors the bold! I admire you!”
“When I heard you were safe, I was overjoyed! Hahaha!”
Qi Yuan rolled his eyes.
“You’re too polite. If Brother Situ hadn’t told me the truth, I might have died in ignorance. I should thank you.”
“So… what do you want?”
He had this guy figured out. Situ Yun was a fair-weather friend who would sell out his own mother if the price was right. Last time, he fled the scene faster than a rabbit, almost leaving Qi Yuan to die.
However, credit where credit is due: he did warn Qi Yuan about Shen Xingxuan’s identity before running away. That counted as a shred of conscience. Plus, he hadn’t leaked the secret afterward.
“Brother Qi,” Situ Yun chuckled, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “I have something important to discuss. Are you free? Let’s meet.”
“What is it? Can’t you say it now?”
“Trust me, Brother. This is a huge opportunity for you. I can’t say more over the talisman.”
Qi Yuan frowned. After a moment, he agreed. “Fine. Name the place.”
He was curious to see what medicine this snake-oil salesman was peddling now.
…
Not long later, Qi Yuan found Situ Yun waiting outside a lavish cave estate in the Inner Sect.
“Brother Qi! You came!” Situ Yun beamed, rushing forward.
Qi Yuan cut him off. “Cut the crap. I’m busy. Speak.”
Situ Yun laughed. “To be honest, a ‘Noble Person’ has asked to see you. If you impress her, not only will you be safe from retaliation, but your rise in the Saint Sect will be unstoppable.”
“Noble Person?” Qi Yuan lost interest instantly. “Not interested. Goodbye.”
He turned to leave.
“Wait!” Situ Yun grabbed his sleeve, panicking. “This is the cave of the Eldest Miss of the Situ Family! You can’t just leave without entering!”
He lowered his voice. “Brother, this is Situ Yan. In terms of beauty and status, she is the equal of Ji Chan’er and Shen Xingxuan.”
“She heard you are a young hero with boundless potential and sincerely wants to befriend you. No malice intended.”
Situ Yan?
Qi Yuan’s heart skipped a beat. He knew the name. She was one of the heavy hitters of the Demon Sect. But why would she want to meet him? They had zero intersection.
While he hesitated, the massive doors of the estate swung open.
Dozens of beautiful maidservants in flowing silk robes filed out, forming two welcoming lines. They bowed in unison.
“We greet Young Master Qi. Our Mistress has prepared wine and awaits your presence.”
Qi Yuan narrowed his eyes.
A formal invitation? If I refuse now, I’ll make an enemy for no reason.
He nodded calmly. “Since Fairy Situ is so gracious, I cannot refuse. Lead the way.”
“Please, Young Master.” The head maid smiled sweetly.
Qi Yuan turned to drag Situ Yun along, only to find the space beside him empty. The guy had vanished like smoke.
Coward.
Qi Yuan shook his head and followed the flock of beauties into the dragon’s den.
