Chapter 250: Blood Weighs a Thousand Jun, Fated Chance Sought Amidst Danger

Principal wife?

The image of Chen Ziyi flashed across Zhou Kai’s mind. Her face wasn’t breathtakingly beautiful, but it was the only face that brought him absolute peace.

She possessed no innate talent or prestigious background. Every step of her immortal path had been paved by his own two hands. But she was the genesis of his fortune. She was his first. In the future, he might be surrounded by peerless fairies and divine maidens, but no matter how blinding their beauty, they would never eclipse Chen Ziyi in his heart.

The scales had been balanced long ago. The position of the sole principal wife was already taken.

The thought vanished as quickly as it came. Zhou Kai had no intention of unpacking his emotional baggage right now; surviving the immediate tactical situation took absolute priority.

He didn’t need to play political games or curry favor. He possessed the System.

He looked at Du Chuyao’s highly calculated, playful smile. He glanced at Li Youci, whose eyes had suddenly frosted over with lethal ice.

He made his move.

“The Holy Maiden of the Jade Flower Palace is destined to become the Headmaster of her Sect,” Zhou Kai said, his voice perfectly level. “The Holy Maiden of Calamity Abyss Valley will one day sit upon the throne of her Sect.”

His tone carried no inflection. He wasn’t making a grand romantic declaration; he was stating geological facts. “My Dao Companions are peerless. How could I ever force them to bow to another?”

Before the words fully settled, he turned his body, locking his gaze directly onto Li Youci. His eyes burned with sudden, absolute intensity as he enunciated every single syllable.

“But the only woman I will ever formally and openly marry as my principal wife… is Li Youci.”

Li Youci’s breath hitched. Her heart constricted violently. The sudden, overwhelming weight of his sheer dominance—the sheer arrogance of him casually dictating her entire future—made her fingertips go numb.

Yet, her face remained a mask of flawless frost. She let out a stubborn, dismissive snort and turned her head sharply away. But she couldn’t stop the furious, burning flush of crimson that rapidly crawled up the back of her neck to the tips of her ears.

“I see. ‘The only woman’,” Du Chuyao repeated softly, giving Zhou Kai a profound, highly analytical look. She nodded once, neatly dropping the subject.

Having neutralized the immediate crisis, Zhou Kai smoothly pivoted. “Fairy Du. I intend to keep Hongxiao by my side.”

Wu Hongxiao’s head snapped up. Her cheeks were flushed dark red, and her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird as she stared nervously at her Senior Sister.

Du Chuyao swept a calculating gaze over her Junior Sister and smiled. “A minor administrative matter like the marriage of a Bone Forging disciple is well within my authority to approve. If Young Master Zhou personally pens a formal letter of intent and delivers the appropriate betrothal gifts to the Jade Flower Palace, the matter will be settled.”

“Done,” Zhou Kai agreed instantly.

He turned his attention back to the massive chamber ahead. “Let’s move in.”

Li Youci shook her head, taking a step back. “That seven-colored auspicious light radiating from the ceiling is composed of absolute, localized Yang energy. It is designed to physically incinerate Yin and Ghost entities. If I step inside, my foundation will burn.”

Shen Hanyi remained perfectly still. “The ambient radiation of that light will likely destabilize the core structure of my Sword Embryo.”

Li Youci looked at Zhou Kai, her eyes serious. “Husband. Do not get distracted by the crystals on the walls. The real prize is the sludge in that pool. Drain it dry. Take every single drop you can carry!”

Zhou Kai nodded. Flanked by Du Chuyao and Wu Hongxiao, he stepped over the threshold into the stone hall.

The moment his boot hit the floor, the air solidified into liquid iron. An invisible, crushing gravitational Aura Pressure slammed into him from all directions, forcing a sickening groan from his skeleton.

A muffled grunt escaped Zhou Kai’s throat. He violently flared his Qi and Vitality in unison, grinding his teeth as he pushed back against the crushing weight, forcing himself to walk forward.

Wu Hongxiao wasn’t nearly as durable. Her legs instantly turned to jelly, shaking violently under the localized gravity. If Zhou Kai hadn’t deliberately positioned his Aura to act as a physical breakwater, she would have been crushed to her knees instantly.

Du Chuyao, however, moved with perfect, aristocratic grace. With a flick of her wrist, she deployed a three-inch white jade seal. The artifact shot into the air, rapidly expanding to three feet in diameter. It projected a cascading, waterfall-like curtain of light that perfectly insulated them from the crushing gravity of the beating heart.

Moving with blinding speed, Du Chuyao pointed her fingers at the cavern walls like a conductor. As if responding to a magnet, the embedded Evil Soul Crystals ripped themselves out of the rock, flying into her Storage Bag in streaks of black light.

Meanwhile, Zhou Kai and Wu Hongxiao sprinted to the edge of the blood pool.

Zhou Kai produced over a dozen high-grade spatial bottles. Wu Hongxiao produced three of her own. Under normal circumstances, any single one of these Magical Artifacts possessed the spatial capacity to drain a small lake in seconds.

Zhou Kai triggered his Qi, activating the maximum suction protocols on the bottles.

The dark, ink-like sludge in the pool barely reacted. It sluggishly deformed, reluctantly drawing up into a microscopic thread no thicker than a human hair before slowly dripping into the bottle.

A single drop of this blood weighs a thousand jun! Even with the bottles redlining their spatial output, the stream of blood barely thickened.

It took them agonizing minutes to fill all the bottles to the brim. When Zhou Kai checked the water level of the massive pool, the volume had dropped by a fraction of a millimeter. It was completely negligible.

Suddenly, the demon heart convulsed violently.

THUMP!

The acoustic shockwave bypassed physical armor entirely, acting as a massive, invisible hammer that smashed directly into their souls!

Wu Hongxiao’s vision violently glitched to black. A heavy, coppery taste flooded her throat, and she violently vomited a mouthful of pulverized blood. Her knees buckled, and she pitched forward.

“Get out!” Zhou Kai roared.

Wu Hongxiao didn’t argue. Clutching her chest, she staggered backward, desperately dragging herself over the threshold and out of the stone hall.

Zhou Kai stared at the massive pool of hyper-dense demon blood, his eyes burning with intense frustration. Leaving this much raw capital on the table was physically painful.

He shouted over his shoulder toward the entrance. “Youci! Do you still have that spatial jar?!”

Before he even finished the sentence, the pitch-black jar rocketed through the air, slapping firmly into his outstretched palm.

“Husband, that jar won’t hold much more than your bottles!” Li Youci shouted back from the corridor. “If you want the pure, unfiltered demon blood, there is only one way… you have to harvest it directly from the source, before the auspicious light irradiates it!”

Zhou Kai froze. “Are you trying to make me a widower?!”

If he blocked the seven-colored suppression laser, the demonic ferocity of the heart’s blood would instantly multiply by a factor of ten!

“Use your clone, you idiot!” Li Youci snapped back.

A clone? Zhou Kai’s gaze snapped upward, tracking the blinding, seven-colored pillar of light descending from the dome.

A tactical protocol formed in his mind with the speed of lightning. It was insanely bold. It was suicidal.

He shoved the black jar into the hands of the “Cicada Robe Body” that smoothly stepped out of his physical form.

“RISE!” Zhou Kai roared.

He detonated the entirety of his Vitality reserves. His physical body violently expanded, tearing upward into the cavern until he transformed into a towering, twenty-five-zhang tall Five Emperors True Body!

His massive legs coiled and launched. The solid stone floor atomized beneath his boots as his titanic frame rocketed upward, hurtling directly into the path of the seven-colored laser descending from the ceiling!

He was going to use his own colossal mass as a physical eclipse, blocking the divine light to buy his microscopic clone the window it needed to harvest the pure blood!

BOOM!

Zhou Kai’s titanic shoulders slammed into the beam, completely eclipsing the light.

The instant the suppression field was severed, the heart went critical. The localized chains holding the ghost, demon, and evil auras shattered. The dark energy erupted with the force of a thermonuclear detonation.

A massive, pitch-black shockwave carrying the stench of rotting blood and millions of screaming souls slammed violently into Zhou Kai’s titan form and Du Chuyao below.

Du Chuyao was thrown off balance. Her protective light curtain rippled violently, threatening to collapse. The sheer kinetic shock traveled through her shield; she tasted copper and a thin line of blood ran down her chin.

Yet, her eyes remained perfectly calm. With a flick of her thoughts, the white jade seal above her head flared with blinding intensity. The light poured down like molten silver, perfectly cocooning her and the Cicada Robe clone. The seal vibrated again, launching dozens of razor-sharp jade light blades into the dark, instantly shredding several newly spawned demons to carve an entry vector for Li Youci.

To buy Zhou Kai time, Du Chuyao summoned a massive shield of gold and jade, deploying it directly beneath his titan form to absorb the secondary shockwaves blasting up from the floor.

Suspended mid-air, Zhou Kai was in agony. It felt as though millions of freezing steel needles were being violently hammered into his Meridians. The triumvirate of evil energies clung to his titan flesh like ravenous maggots, frantically trying to corrode his Vitality and Qi.

But his back was pinned directly against the seven-colored auspicious light. The divine radiation flooded his system from behind, acting as a massive, purifying flush that violently incinerated the invading demonic corruption as fast as it entered.

He flicked a finger, tossing a high-grade healing Pill into his mouth. The medicine detonated in his stomach, forcefully suppressing the catastrophic internal hemorrhaging.

But on the cavern floor, hell had officially broken loose.

Without the light to continuously purge the sludge, the massive blood pool hit a rolling boil. As the hyper-viscous demon blood churned, thousands of twisted black shadows began to scream. They dragged themselves over the stone lip of the pool, rapidly mutating into horrific, fully formed fierce demons and vengeful ghosts.

“Zhou Kai, you absolute lunatic!” Li Youci shrieked from the corridor, her voice a mix of sheer terror and fury.

She couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore. Both her True Body and her Ghost Form materialized simultaneously. One form burned with apocalyptic, world-incinerating netherworld fire; the other radiated a freezing soul-flame designed to instantly shatter consciousness. Gripping the Ten Thousand Soul Banner, she charged headlong into the meat grinder.

Seeing Zhou Kai literally bench-pressing a divine laser to hold the line, the battle-lust in Shen Hanyi’s glacial eyes ignited into a raging inferno.

Clang!

A crystal-clear sword cry echoed through the cavern. Woman and blade fused into a single entity, transforming into a blinding, golden-white rainbow that violently tore through the suffocating demonic aura, rocketing into the room to strike first.

“Senior Sister!” Wu Hongxiao screamed from the corridor, trapped by her own weakness. She knew charging in would only make her a liability.

“Hold your position,” Du Chuyao commanded calmly from the center of the storm. The white jade seal flared again, deploying thousands of localized light threads that wove perfectly into the attack patterns of Li Youci and Shen Hanyi, acting as a flawless crowd-control net.

Li Youci snapped the Ten Thousand Soul Banner like a whip. Amidst a cacophony of wailing screams, an army of enslaved ghosts poured from the fabric, violently engaging the newly spawned spirits in savage, close-quarters spectral combat. Simultaneously, the banner generated a massive vortex of suction, ripping the weaker hostile ghosts directly into its spatial prison.

Shen Hanyi executed a single, flawless strike.

A peerless, hyper-lethal beam of golden-red sword light cleanly bisected the entire stone hall. Wherever the light touched, the physical bodies of over a dozen massive fierce demons instantly locked up before crumbling into fine ash. The residual sword intent was so impossibly sharp it actively hunted down and annihilated the dispersing demonic energy, permanently preventing the monsters from regenerating!

But the single strike cost her. Her complexion instantly paled. The ambient demonic energy couldn’t breach her sword embryo, but the sheer, crushing Aura Pressure radiating from the heart was too much for her current cultivation stage.

Suspended near the ceiling, Zhou Kai tracked the battlefield perfectly. “Hanyi! Fall back to the corridor! I have the line!” he roared, his voice booming like thunder from the titan’s chest.

Shen Hanyi swept her gaze over Zhou Kai’s towering, god-like True Body physically holding back the apocalypse, then glanced down at the rapidly stabilizing demon tide. Her eyes narrowed. Recognizing that her job was done, she didn’t let pride dictate her actions. She smoothly reversed her trajectory, her sword light blurring as she retreated safely back into the corridor.
