Chapter 133: The Frenzied Wu Yuan
Wu Yuan smacked his lips, tucking the severed proboscis into his storage bag with a satisfied grunt. He looked at the Mosquito Mother with utter disdain.
“You think I don’t know there’s something wrong with the ‘Blood Essence’ you gave me?”
He sneered, tapping his cheek. “My tongue almost jumped out of my mouth to slap me for even considering it! I’m not one of those ignorant, brain-dead beasts you usually deal with.”
The “Blood Essence” wasn’t a supplement at all. It was a biological Trojan Horse.
The Mosquito Mother didn’t have the bloated abdomen of a Queen Bee or Ant Queen. Her streamlined combat form came at a cost: she couldn’t lay eggs conventionally. Instead, she condensed “Blood Essence”—concentrated spheres containing millions of microscopic eggs. Once inside a host, these eggs would hatch, cannibalize each other, and the strongest few would erupt from the victim’s body as fully formed Blood-Winged Black Mosquitoes.
Worse, the Mosquito Mother had laced the offering with her demonic consciousness. If Wu Yuan had touched or absorbed it, she could have instantly catalyzed the eggs, turning him into a living incubator for her Blood Transformation Divine Ability.
Realizing her gambit had failed, the Mosquito Mother’s fury evaporated, replaced by cold calculation.
Red light surged over her body, instantly healing her flesh wounds. However, her severed wings and proboscis remained missing, leaving her looking ragged and disheveled.
She glared viciously at Wu Yuan. “I admit defeat this time. Speak, Rat King—what will it take for you to let me go?”
“Spiritual plants? Spirit Stones? Genuine Blood Essence? I can provide it all!” she bargained rapidly. “I can even submit to you! But don’t think about enslaving my soul. If you push me too far, I’ll self-destruct and take half your army with me!”
As she spoke, another swarm of mosquitoes buzzed out from the Corrupt Water Pool. These were pale red and smaller than the veterans—hatchlings forced into battle prematurely.
Wu Yuan didn’t dignify her threats with a response. instead, he asked a seemingly unrelated question.
“You heard the report my scout gave me just now. Aren’t you curious what Bibo finished arranging?”
Red light flickered uncertainly in the Mosquito Mother’s eyes. She abruptly raised her head, staring fixedly at the cyan-glowing feather in Wu Yuan’s hand. A sudden, crushing sense of foreboding seized her heart.
Hum!
Cyan spiritual light erupted from the periphery of the Corrupt Water Pool. It shifted from a dim glow to a blinding radiance, rising like a second sun. In an instant, a massive hemispherical light shield snapped into place, sealing the Mosquito Mother and her swarm inside a cage of solid energy.
Big Old Black flew up from behind the pool, and Bibo emerged from the flank. Both held identical Wind Feather artifacts. Around them, squads of solemn rat demons stood in precise formation, channeling their Demon Power into the array.
Watching the formation lock into place, Wu Yuan dropped his mask of civility. His face twisted into a ferocious, predatory grin.
“If I wasn’t waiting for my boys to modify the terrain and activate the formation, do you think I would have wasted my breath talking to you?”
“Let you go?” Wu Yuan laughed, a low, rasping sound. “Today, none of you are leaving. This place is your tomb.”
The Mosquito Mother fell silent. Then, without a word, she turned and led her swarm back down into the murky depths of the Corrupt Water Pool. She knew that under the suppression of this formation, the pool was her only defensible position.
Wu Yuan didn’t stop her. He gazed appreciatively at the shimmering barrier of the [Hundred Feather Wind Controlling Formation].
“After so much study, I’ve finally mastered the spiritual patterns of a Middle-Grade Formation!” Wu Yuan sighed with deep satisfaction. “Truly a cause for celebration. Now… the trap is set. It’s time for the kill.”
“Let the Mosquito Mother be the touchstone for my new masterpiece.”
As soon as Wu Yuan finished speaking, a deep rumble echoed from the earth.
It sounded as if an Earth Dragon was turning over in its sleep.
Rocks collapsed, hills sank, and new earthen ridges rose from the ground. Under the collective labor of tens of thousands of mining rats, reshaping the local geography was merely a matter of time and muscle.
Sensing the strange fluctuations in the earth veins, Wu Yuan nodded in approval. “Bibo’s talent as an Earth Spirit Master is terrifying. He actually managed to integrate the terrain modifications directly into the formation’s structure.”
The Corrupt Water Pool was geographically unique. Located at the lowest point of the mountain range, it was a natural sinkhole for “Malignant Qi”—the waste products of the spiritual ecosystem. It acted as a kidney for the Azure Spirit Mountain Range, filtering toxins and facilitating the circulation of clean Qi.
This harsh environment, combined with the rotting biomass from the winter thaw, had created the perfect breeding ground for the Mosquito Mother. It was a festering sore of death and decay, protected by poisonous miasma and blood toxins.
Wu Yuan had no desire to send his rats into that poison pit to die.
Instead, he would destroy the pit itself.
His verbal sparring with the Mosquito Mother had bought Bibo the time needed to sever the pool’s lifelines.
Wu Yuan concealed the fanatical fervor in his eyes and waved his claw.
“Cut it off.”
Tens of thousands of rats surged like a black tide. They blocked and diverted every stream and tributary feeding into the Corrupt Water Pool. They gnawed through rock and soil, turning the surrounding slopes into a honeycomb of collapsed tunnels.
They weren’t just blocking the water; they were isolating the pool from the world.
Deep underground, the Fire Ants coordinated with the rats. They sprayed acetic acid which the Ant King solidified into black, resinous barriers. These barriers didn’t just stop water—they blocked the flow of Qi.
Finally, the rats dug down to the earth veins—the spiritual arteries of the land.
Snap.
The veins were severed. Earth Qi churned violently, spewing out and dissipating into nothingness. The natural circulation was broken.
“Wu Yuan!”
“How dare you dig up and sever the earth veins!”
The Azure Radiance Grotto-Heaven’s voice exploded in Wu Yuan’s mind, frantic and angry. “This is not what you said when you asked for the map! You are destroying the foundation of the land!”
Wu Yuan ignored the spirit’s shouting. He watched calmly as the Corrupt Water Pool was transformed from a living ecosystem into a stagnant, isolated “Dead Land.”
These channels were crucial. They allowed the pool to “breathe,” processing the toxins it collected. By severing them, Wu Yuan was essentially causing organ failure in the mountain range itself.
Such an act was taboo. Even among demons, destroying a Spirit Vein was a crime condemned by all. It was smashing the rice bowl of every creature in the region.
But Wu Yuan didn’t care about the long-term ecological damage. He didn’t care about “Providence.”
He needed a sealed vessel for what came next.
