Synopsis

Life is hard. Life as a rat at the bottom of the food chain is impossible.
Wu Yuan was a modern graduate student with a bright future—until a truck sent him packing to the afterlife. He didn’t wake up as a hero, a prince, or a legendary warrior. He woke up in a damp hole, covered in brown fur, surrounded by squeaking siblings.
He is a Rat. A common, weak, snack-sized rodent in a world filled with magical beasts, ancient demons, and ruthless cultivators.
In the dangerous forests of Little Green Mountain, a snake can swallow him whole, and an owl can snatch him from the sky. Death is one mistake away.
But Wu Yuan has two advantages that the local beasts don’t: a human mind, and a mysterious cheat item fused to his soul—the [Causality Bead].
[Green Intel: Consume the Moon Spirit Grass at midnight to awaken Demon Power.] [Black Intel: Do not enter the cave. Certain death awaits.]
Armed with the ability to foresee opportunities and avoid fatal calamities, Wu Yuan begins his impossible climb to the top.
From chewing on Spirit Copper to forge an indestructible body, to commanding a swarm of thousands, to farming spirit herbs in secret underground bunkers—Wu Yuan will do whatever it takes to survive.
They call him a pest. He calls himself a future Demon King.
What to expect:
Monster Evolution: Starting as a weak rat and evolving into a unique spiritual beast.
Kingdom Building: Managing a rat swarm, farming spirit plants, and digging extensive underground bases.
Unique Cultivation: Eating minerals and ores to strengthen the body.
Smart MC: Uses wits, traps, and intel to defeat stronger enemies (and sometimes shameless begging).
Cute & Fierce Companions: A lucky gluttonous hamster sidekick and an arrogant cat mentor.

Little Gray was very shocked and said to Wu Yuan:

“How did you, Boss, escape the Beast Spirit Temple’s Great Demon Purge a year ago?”

“You should know that any spirit with over forty strands of Demon Power must be eliminated!”

“Based on your current strength of seventy strands of Demon Power, Boss,”

“you must have had at least forty or fifty strands back then. That would have made you a key target for the Great Demons!”

Wu Yuan relaxed internally, knowing that Little Gray didn’t mind his identity as a local demon.

The claws hidden behind his back slowly retracted, and his Demon Power gradually calmed down.

“Little Gray’s reaction shows that the outsider demon clans don’t discriminate against the demons of Little Green Mountain; at least the neutral forces don’t.”

“He’s just shocked by how fast my strength has changed!”

Wu Yuan thought to himself: “More than that! Before the Emperor’s Ambrosia, I only had twenty-three strands of Demon Power.”

Wu Yuan explained to Little Gray:

“It was also a Fated Chance back then. I escaped into a cave and managed to avoid the disaster. I didn’t even dare to absorb the Emperor’s Ambrosia!”

Seeing Little Gray’s expression of disbelief but inability to find a flaw,

Wu Yuan quickly changed the subject: “I feel like you’re very surprised by my cultivation speed. Tell me more about it!”

Little Gray immediately looked at Wu Yuan with envy and said:

“Boss, do you know that in the outside world, a spirit with a First Grade High-Rank bloodline cultivating in the early Qi Condensation stage”

“can only cultivate about five strands of Demon Power a year, and that’s under conditions of abundant Spiritual Qi.”

Wu Yuan continued to ask: “What about First Grade Middle and Low-Rank bloodlines?”

Little Gray was very puzzled again and said:

“These spirits only cultivate two or three strands of Demon Power a year. Without a Fated Chance, it’s very difficult for them to break through to the mid or late Qi Condensation stage in their entire lives.”

“They are the lowest-tier spirits. Why do you care about them, Boss?”

Wu Yuan’s heart shook, and he pondered to himself:

“I started as a First Grade Mid-Rank Spirit Gathering Rat, but my original cultivation speed should have been four strands a year,”

“but in reality, I had twenty-three strands of Demon Power in half a year. What kind of speed is that!”

“No, ever since I came to the mine cave, I haven’t lacked Spirit Stones or spiritual plants for cultivation. This is my Fated Chance!”

Wu Yuan suppressed the excitement in his heart and continued: “Tell me about Second Grade bloodlines.”

“Second Grade bloodlines, depending on the bloodline concentration, can cultivate ten to thirty strands of Demon Power a year.”

“However, Second Grade bloodlines also have some status within their clans and have some resources, so their cultivation speed can be even faster.”

“But to break through to the mid-stage of Qi Condensation, they still need three or four years of accumulation and tempering.”

“Although we demons have small bottlenecks as long as we haven’t reached our bloodline limit,”

“cultivation is not something that can be achieved overnight. It also requires time and effort to temper.”

“Otherwise, you’re just an empty shell and can easily be eaten!”

“Your cultivation speed, Boss, must be at least that of a Second Grade High-Rank bloodline!”

Wu Yuan thought to himself:

“If you knew that in the year since the Emperor’s Ambrosia, I went from twenty-three to seventy strands of Demon Power, what would you think!”

Little Gray continued:

“This is also the reason why many forces want to occupy Little Green Mountain.”

“The Spiritual Qi here is more active and abundant, easier to absorb, so cultivation is faster!”

“My sister and I just wanted to come in to cultivate for a while and look for a Fated Chance!”

After finishing, Little Gray hesitated for a moment and continued:

“Boss, it’s best not to reveal the news that you are a local demon.”

“Little Green Mountain is too special here, which makes your current identity somewhat peculiar.”

“Although I haven’t heard any related news, I always feel there’s something more to this.”

Little Gray, afraid that Wu Yuan wouldn’t believe him, quickly said:

“Boss, my innate talent is Danger Premonition. This is also the reason why my clan leader sent me and my little sister in.”

“But just now, when I used my talent, I didn’t perceive anything.”

“This is the strangest part. It means this is beyond the scope of my ability to foresee. Boss, you must be careful!”

Wu Yuan nodded: “I know. You go back first. Later, we’ll go check on the Goat Spirit together.”

Wu Yuan, of course, knew something was wrong here. He felt somewhat heavy-hearted but quickly recovered.

He thought to himself: “Didn’t I already know that Little Green Mountain is very strange?”

“Once I cultivate to Perfection in the early Qi Condensation stage, I won’t have to worry about these outsider demons. At worst, I can just run away then!”

Wu Yuan, along with Bibo, who had mostly recovered from her injuries, and Big Old Black, stood at the edge of the valley.

Big Old Black’s eyes were fixed tightly on the huge cocoon in the valley, his expression full of vigilance.

He said in a gruff voice:

“Tell the rat swarm to stay far away later. We mustn’t let that Goat Spirit absorb any flesh and blood!”

“This Goat Spirit is full of cunning tricks. Who knows what backup plans it still has.”

Hearing this, Bibo’s already tense face now showed even more worry.

Her brows furrowed, and she said with a worried expression:

“Could this be dangerous? Why don’t we just leave it sealed like this? If we open it and something unexpected happens, it would be troublesome.”

Wu Yuan didn’t respond immediately. He slightly closed his eyes,

sensing the Karma Pearl, and slowly injected a wisp of the Power of Creation into it.

He had discovered that with this Karma Pearl, he could ask not for new intelligence, but only whether a previous intelligence event had concluded.

It could be used to judge if there was still danger or if there were any missed Fated Chances, and the cost in Power of Creation was extremely small.

This was a new function Wu Yuan had recently discovered.

A moment later, the Karma Pearl sent feedback:

[Blue Intelligence: The Stone Wood Spirit Goat at the early Qi Condensation stage with ninety-nine strands of Demon Power coveted the Blood-Binding Spirit Mulberry and intended to cleanse Little Green Mountain.] [Status: CONCLUDED.]

Wu Yuan then opened his eyes, looked at Bibo, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.

He said: “It’s fine. There won’t be any problems. You can open it!”

Seeing Wu Yuan so certain, Bibo, though still having doubts in her heart, felt reassured.

She formed hand seals with both hands, controlling her Magical Artifact. A flash of spiritual light passed, and the silk threads were slowly cut open, revealing the curled-up Goat Spirit inside.

The Goat Spirit at this moment looked several times more miserable than when Wu Yuan had last seen it.

Its originally dried skin and flesh, under the gentle breeze of the valley, fell away rustling.

Soon, only a grey-white skeleton remained, looking fragile and brittle, as if it would crumble into powder at a touch.

However, Wu Yuan did not relax in the slightest. He stared cautiously at a green seed in the Goat Spirit’s head.

That green seed, though its light was dim, faintly emitted a special aura.

Wu Yuan thought for a moment, summoned a rat from a mouse hole, and said: “You, go pick up that green seed!”
