Chapter 227: Chi Lian: Little Brother, Want to Dual Cultivate with Your Sister?
“This is your identity token as the Ninth Seat Elder. Although it isn’t particularly useful, you should still keep it.”
“Additionally, this is a Life Jade. You need to separate a wisp of your Life Heart Flame and infuse it inside. If any misfortune befalls you, I can monitor your life status at any time through this jade.”
After Elder Sha Zui and the other seven Elders had withdrawn, Chi Lian handed Han Lie a smooth, jade-green token that looked as if it had been naturally formed by the heavens, along with a small, pristine piece of Life Jade.
Following Grand Elder Chi Lian’s instructions, Han Lie accepted the token.
With a flick of his finger, he separated a wisp of his Life Heart Flame and infused it into the stone. “It is done, Grand Elder.”
“Mm…”
Chi Lian stowed the Life Jade away and continued, “Since you are new, do you have any questions about the Elder Council?”
“I certainly do!”
Han Lie asked directly, “Grand Elder, do I need to actively build relationships with the other Elders? Furthermore, do the Elders have any direct or indirect connections to the Sect’s Eight Great Halls?”
Excluding the Servant Department, which was treated with the same regard as roadside weeds, the Heavenly Void Sect had eight major divisions. Coincidentally, the Elder Council—excluding Chi Lian herself—also had exactly eight seats.
Han Lie suspected there might be a correlation.
“Let me answer your first question.”
“Whether you build relationships depends entirely on you. Generally speaking, the Elders spend their days in secluded cultivation or leisurely idling away time. Aside from Council meetings or dealing with external threats, there is very little mandatory social interaction.”
“Of course, some Elders share private friendships and socialize on their own terms. That is quite normal. We all work under the same roof, after all.”
“As for your second question: the answer is yes, and no.”
“The various Hall Masters lead their respective departments, but the Eight Great Halls fall under the direct jurisdiction of the Elder Council. Theoretically, as a Seat of the Council, you are the direct superior of any Hall Master. Do you understand?”
Chi Lian’s answers were simple and brutally clear.
Han Lie nodded. “Understood, Grand Elder.”
Her explanation was plain enough that if he still didn’t understand, he might as well bash his head against a wall.
“Any other questions?”
“Not for now.”
“Good. Let me explain the benefits and treatment of your position one last time.”
“The Scripture Pavilion houses various profound cultivation techniques, spells, and divine abilities. I needn’t elaborate on that. If you feel the need to expand your arsenal, feel free to browse. You might find something unexpected.”
“As for Spirit Stones, pills, or Dharma Treasures, the Council does not issue them on a fixed schedule. If you lack resources, simply compile a list and hand it to me. I will arrange everything.”
“In short: you will never have to worry about resources again.”
“Fantastic. Thank you, Grand Elder!” Han Lie beamed.
After over a decade of arduous struggle, he had finally achieved what could only be described as financial freedom.
However, for the moment, Han Lie wasn’t lacking.
Between the 3 million Spirit Stones from the tournament, the 1 million from Li Yi—the Deputy Chief Assistant of the Great Qin Dynasty—and his own savings, his personal fortune sat near 5 million Spirit Stones. That was enough to sustain his cultivation for a very long time.
As for pills and treasures, his demand was low.
He avoided over-reliance on pills, as it led to a hollow foundation. Furthermore, with his Pure Yang Sacred Body and the Yin Yang Evil Magic, his cultivation speed was already monstrous without artificial aid. By the time he actually needed pills, the Heavenly Void Sect likely wouldn’t be able to provide the grade he required anyway.
Regarding weapons, Crimson Oath was more than sufficient. With its upgrade capability, if he could raise it to a Top-Grade Heaven-Rank treasure, he wouldn’t need a replacement until he hit the late Soul Formation stage.
“Official business is concluded. Now… it is time to discuss private matters.”
A sly curve lifted the corner of Chi Lian’s enchanting red lips. With a blur of motion, she appeared seated right next to Han Lie, her voice teasing. “You know what private matter I refer to, yes? Hehe…”
“Reporting, Grand Elder, I certainly wouldn’t dare forget!”
Han Lie smiled, his expression turning serious. “According to our agreement, since I defeated Old Ghost Black Sha, the reward Grand Elder promised is…”
“Five opportunities to dual cultivate with me.”
Chi Lian extended a pale, jade-like hand, cutting him off before he could finish.
Despite her confirmation, Han Lie asked cautiously, “That… is indeed the case. But Grand Elder, are you sure you aren’t just teasing me?”
Given Chi Lian’s personality, he had his doubts. Was this a game?
Hearing this, Chi Lian crossed her arms, feigning disdain. “What? In your eyes, am I the sort of person who breaks her word?”
“Reporting, Grand Elder, I wouldn’t dare think that!”
“Fine. It is understandable you might think so. After all, anyone would find such a reward absurd, wouldn’t they? Hehehe.”
“Since that is settled, come with me.”
She reached out, using a single finger to lift Han Lie’s chin flirtatiously. Then she rose, swaying her waist like a water snake as she walked toward the conference room door.
Han Lie hesitated for a heartbeat before following.
If Chi Lian truly wanted to force herself on him, he knew he had zero chance of resisting. As the Grand Elder, her management skills were top-tier, but her personal strength was likely second only to Sect Leader Ye Qingxuan. Defeating a suppressed Old Ghost Black Sha didn’t mean Han Lie could scratch Chi Lian.
He followed her deep into the Elder Council compound until they arrived at a majestic, antique-style building.
The plaque above the entrance bore three characters carved in flowing, vigorous calligraphy:
Moon Rain Pavilion.
They entered the main hall. Chi Lian turned abruptly, waving her sleeve. The heavy doors slammed shut behind them, sealing the room.
“Grand Elder, this place is…?”
“My bedchamber, naturally.”
Chi Lian stood with one arm across her chest. She moved with graceful, lotus-like steps until she stood directly in front of him.
A fragrance that seemed to strike deep into his soul washed over him, causing Han Lie to instinctively shudder.
Chi Lian extended a jade finger, once again tilting his chin upward. Her gaze was intense.
“Little slave… oh, no. I cannot call you that anymore. Let’s go with ‘Little Brother’.”
“Little Brother, want to dual cultivate with your sister?”
