“I hear you are approaching Foundation Establishment?”

The following morning, Sect Leader Qi brought Elder Wen to instruct Han Yu on the intricacies of poisoning and detoxification. They were accompanied by Elder Yan and Elder Lü—the former there to visit Elder Wen, the latter to check on his disciple.

“I am confident I can succeed now, but the Sect Leader and Master insisted I make more thorough preparations,” Han Yu replied to Elder Wen, standing under the scrutiny of the Sect Leader and three Elders.

“Good. Although the Sect has provided assistance, your ability to reach this stage so quickly is a testament to your own talent and fortune.”

Elder Wen nodded approvingly, then glanced at Elder Yan. “Wait a moment. I need to explain the methods of detoxification to the child.”

Han Yu bowed respectfully. “Thank you, Elder Wen.”

Elder Wen led Han Yu into the room and retrieved several items from her Storage Bag: a bottle of emerald-green medicinal liquid, a fruit patterned with purple cloud-like veins, and a Jade Slip.

“There are essentially three methods of detoxification,” Elder Wen began slowly. “Countering poison with poison, neutralizing it with spiritual medicine, and resisting it with cultivation techniques.”

Han Yu listened intently.

Han Yu nodded slightly, speaking frankly, “My main concern is for after I achieve Foundation Establishment and leave the Sect. I fear this liquid may not be of much use then.”

Elder Wen waved off his concern. “Keep it regardless. Even if you don’t need it, it may prove useful for saving others.”

She then pointed to the purple, cloud-patterned fruit. “You recognize this spiritual fruit, don’t you?”

Han Yu nodded. “I do. That is a Purple Sun Fruit, obtained from the traveling merchant half a year ago. At the time, you mentioned that this fruit is difficult to cultivate and extremely precious, with the Sect possessing only a few.”

Elder Wen stroked her white hair, a smug smile touching her lips. “You actually believed that? When doing business with merchants, one must always inflate the value of one’s goods.”

“In truth, I am quite skilled at cultivating Purple Sun Fruit. The Sect has a stockpile of roughly 200.”

“This item is primarily for cultivators in the late Foundation Establishment stage. Han Yu accepted the fruit with pleasant surprise. “So, this alone is enough!”

“Hold onto it tight!” Elder Wen instructed sternly. “Though we have a couple hundred, Elder Bai, Elder Mou, and your Master will each need at least 20 to attempt condensing their Golden Cores.”

“Furthermore, since I have already utilized the Ancestral Tree’s earth vein for my own breakthrough, it needs time to recover and cannot assist them. The resources they require will only increase.”

“We must also keep a reserve for the other Deacons… Thus, I can only give you this single fruit for emergencies.”

“Once you leave Wanchun Valley, you must not act on misplaced kindness. Do not give your life-saving medicine to irrelevant people, do you understand? Always remember: the Sect gave this to you to save your life. Unless it is a dire emergency, do not use it recklessly.”

Han Yu nodded solemnly. “Yes, Elder Wen. I will remember.”

“It also contains simple methods for applying poison and extracting poisonous qi. You may learn them; knowledge is never harmful.”

Han Yu took the Jade Slip and swept it with his Divine Sense, finding the contents extremely detailed.

After thanking Elder Wen again, a thought struck him, and he paused. I have the Purple Sun Fruit, so I don’t fear Foundation Establishment poisons. If I learn how to apply poison, I could use it on my puppets, Magical Artifacts, flying swords, the Object Explosion Technique, and the crows… Wouldn’t that give me another lethal avenue of attack?

“For unforeseen needs. If I encounter an opponent in the late Foundation Establishment stage, and I am protected by the Purple Sun Fruit, I could naturally use the Hundred Flowers Poison to ambush them,” Han Yu explained calmly.

Elder Wen looked at Han Yu with renewed astonishment. This child… he’s actually quite sharp. Or perhaps ‘insidious’ is the better word. I teach him detoxification, and he immediately pivots to poisoning without any prompting?

He really was somewhat out of step with the usual temperament of Wanchun Valley disciples.
