Chapter 179: Descending Upon the Xuanyin Sect (Seventh Update)
Inside the Xuanyin Sect’s main hall, the atmosphere was tense. The Sect Master sat on his throne, his face etched with worry, while his Golden Core elders tried to downplay the threat.
“The Qingyun Sect?” one elder scoffed. “They wouldn’t dare attack us. We have more Golden Cores than they do.”
“Exactly,” another agreed. “The Black Wind Stockade was destroyed by outsiders. Why would Qingyun risk a war over a few dead disciples?”
“You’re making a mountain out of a molehill, Sect Master. Why activate the grand formation—”
BOOM!
The sky above the hall exploded with noise. The mountain shook violently, dust falling from the rafters.
“Attack! We are under attack!”
The Sect Master rushed out, followed by his elders. They looked up and froze.
A single, terrifying sword beam was grinding against their defensive dome. The aura radiating from it was suffocating.
“Nascent Soul…” the Sect Master whispered, his face draining of blood. “It’s the Qingyun Ancestor! Full power to the shields! Now!”
Panic swept through the sect. The arrogance of the elders evaporated instantly.
“What do we do?”
“Apologize! Hand over the culprits! We can’t fight a Nascent Soul!”
The Sect Master flew up, projecting his voice through the barrier. “Senior Qingxuan! Please stop! This is a misunderstanding! We will pay compensation!”
“No misunderstanding,” Sun Yi’s cold voice replied. “You sacrifice mortals for blood rites. You die.”
“What?” The Sect Master blinked. They’re attacking us… for mortals?
Qingxuan didn’t wait for a rebuttal. He struck the barrier again.
CRACK!
The dome held, but only just. It was a Fourth-Grade formation, tough enough to withstand a Nascent Soul assault for a few days.
Sun Yi stood beside the Patriarch, his eyes glowing with inner light. Inside his Sea of Consciousness, his eight split souls were running a parallel analysis on the formation’s structure, searching for weakness.
A day passed. The bombardment was relentless.
Suddenly, Sun Yi’s eyes snapped open. “Found it.”
He transmitted the coordinates to Qingxuan. “The formation hasn’t been maintained in decades. Strike these six points simultaneously.”
“Are you sure?”
“Trust me.”
Qingxuan nodded. Six sword beams shot out, hitting the specific nodes with surgical precision.
SHATTER!
The invincible barrier disintegrated like glass. The shockwave tore through the sect grounds, crushing buildings and disciples alike.
“Run!”
The Xuanyin elders scattered, fleeing in every direction.
“None shall escape,” Qingxuan declared.
His Divine Sense locked onto every Golden Core signature. Cyan sword beams rained down, hunting them like guided missiles.
SPLAT. SPLAT. SPLAT.
One by one, the elders were pierced through the heart or head. Their bodies fell from the sky like stones.
Only three remained—the Sect Master and two Grand Perfection elders. They huddled together, terrified.
“Senior!” the Sect Master shouted. “You are a Nascent Soul ancestor! To slaughter juniors like this… it is beneath your dignity! Think of your reputation!”
Qingxuan paused, his sword hovering. It was a valid point in the cultivation world. The strong didn’t usually exterminate the weak so blatantly.
“Reputation?” Sun Yi stepped forward, his voice dripping with scorn. “Ancestor, don’t listen to their garbage. Who said Nascent Souls can’t kill trash? Did they think about dignity when they were butchering mortal children?”
Qingxuan’s eyes hardened. “Correct.”
He made a pinching motion.
SLASH!
Three sword beams converged. The remaining elders didn’t even have time to scream before they were erased from existence.
Sun Yi watched the bodies fall, satisfied.
Why do the dirty work myself when I have a nuclear weapon on speed dial?
