Chapter 160: Governing Yellow Earth City
A massive plaque was hoisted above the main gate of the newly formed complex, bearing four bold, golden characters: [QINGYUN DAO PALACE].
Below it, a wide staircase of white jade extended down to the plaza, inviting the mortal populace to ascend.
Elder Han Yun waved his sleeve again. Three streaks of light shot from his cuff, slamming into the plaza pavement. They transformed into three towering stone steles, each ten zhang high.
The First Stele detailed the Qingyun Sect: its history, its mission, and the criteria for recruitment.
Clear background.
A heart of justice.
Passing the trials of the Dao Palace. It also listed the benefits for the families of disciples—tax exemptions, protection, and resources.
The Second Stele displayed the first layer of the Five Elements Art. It was written in plain language with detailed annotations, designed so that anyone literate could understand and attempt it. A footnote clarified: To learn the advanced layers, one must join the Sect.
The Third Stele displayed the first layer of the Myriad Spirit Body Tempering Art, similarly annotated.
Sun Yi nodded in satisfaction. In his previous life on Earth, “demolition and relocation” was a bureaucratic nightmare involving holdouts and lawsuits. Here? He was a god. He paid generously, built instantly, and the people thanked him for it.
He infused his voice with True Qi, projecting it across the city.
“Citizens of Yellow Earth City! Listen well!”
“The Qingyun Dao Palace is established. From this moment, you are under my protection.”
“The plaza is open to all. The cultivation methods on the steles are free for you to study. Anyone with affinity may attempt the path to immortality.”
“Furthermore, bring your sick and your injured to the Palace. We will heal them.”
“Finally,” his voice turned cold, “I summon all former city officials. Gather at the Palace gate immediately. Failure to appear will result in the execution of your entire clan.”
“The Qingyun Dao Palace will uphold justice. We will purge the demon beasts from your lands. We will ensure you are fed.”
The city erupted.
“My father… he can be saved! Quick, carry him to the Palace!”
“Immortal techniques? For us? Truly?”
“The Immortal is purging the beasts! We can farm the outer fields again!”
Like a tidal wave, the populace surged toward the city center.
Sun Yi turned to the thousand disciples hovering behind him. His expression was stern.
“Listen to me. Do not look down on them. Your parents, your grandparents—they were once ordinary mortals like these people.”
“Among these crowds may be the geniuses who will carry our sect into the future. We are few; they are many. We must cherish them.”
“If I catch anyone bullying a mortal, the Sect Rules will be enforced without mercy. Be firm with troublemakers, but serve the people. Solve their problems.”
“We obey!” the disciples roared in unison.
Sun Yi turned to Elder Han Yun. “Which team is assigned to this city?”
“Wan Yu, step forward!” Han Yun barked.
Five cultivators flew out from the ranks. Sun Yi smiled when he recognized the leader. Wan Yu was one of the disciples who had broken through to Foundation Establishment after reading Sun Yi’s motivational motto.
“Wan Yu. Your cultivation has improved again. Good.”
Wan Yu flushed with excitement. “Headmaster! It was your guidance that allowed me to break through. I dare not slack off!”
“It was your own effort,” Sun Yi corrected gently. “Do you have any complaints about being stationed here?”
“None!” Wan Yu shouted. “We will not let you down! We will guard Yellow Earth City with our lives!”
Sun Yi nodded. He looked at the other four team members. “Names?”
“Disciple Zhu Di.” “Disciple Wang Liu.” “Disciple Han Chao.” “Disciple Wu Qiming.”
All were Foundation Establishment cultivators with steady eyes.
“Good,” Sun Yi began issuing orders.
“Zhu Di. Take ten disciples. Equip yourselves with Spirit Plates. Sweep a five-hundred-mile radius around the city. Exterminate every demon beast, regardless of rank. Collect the souls, pile the corpses in the plaza.”
“Understood!” Zhu Di took his team and flew off immediately.
“Wu Qiming. Set up a medical station next to the plaza. Take ten disciples. Use spirit water—diluted Vitality Pills—to treat the mortals. Cure them all.”
“Yes, Headmaster!” Wu Qiming led his team down to the square.
“Han Chao. Take ten disciples. Your job is education. Explain the Five Elements Art and the Body Tempering Art to the people. For the first ten days, run continuous lectures. After that, schedule them monthly.”
“Understood!”
Finally, Sun Yi looked at Wang Liu.
Wang Liu stepped forward, bowing deeply. “Please give your orders, Headmaster!”
Sun Yi’s expression turned serious. “Your task is critical. Listen closely.”
