Chapter 185: Concept of the Cultivation Space
“Excellent. Elder Han Yun can handle the recruitment and training of the new intake,” Sun Yi said, his tone decisive. “Your priority is logistics—ensure the supply chain for resources remains uninterrupted.”
He fixed his gaze on the subordinate before him. “However, your primary focus must remain on the Spirit Herb Hall and the Spirit Beast Hall. These two divisions are the bedrock of the Qingyun Sect’s future economy. I trust you understand the gravity of this; there is no room for negligence.”
“Headmaster, rest assured,” Er Gouzi responded, bowing deeply. “I will oversee the establishment of both halls personally and accelerate their development.”
Sun Yi nodded, satisfied. “I know your capabilities. You won’t let me down.”
He gestured for Er Gouzi to rise. “Once you leave, send word to Elders Jin Jue and Li Tai. Tell them to withdraw their forces and return to the Sect. We have successfully mobilized the rogue cultivators of the Chaos Demon Commandery; the momentum is self-sustaining now. The Qingyun Sect no longer needs to micromanage the expansion.”
Sun Yi paused, considering the resource allocation. “The War Hall disciples should focus on their cultivation. As for the auxiliary disciples, have them assist Elder Han Yun upon their return to speed up the construction of the Qingyun Dao Palace.”
“Understood, Headmaster. I will transmit the orders immediately,” Er Gouzi promised before hurriedly taking his leave.
With the administrative matters settled, Sun Yi turned to Patriarch Qingxuan. The confident veneer of the CEO dropped slightly, replaced by a look of serious calculation.
“Patriarch, although we have effectively secured the Chaos Demon Commandery, there is a glaring strategic weakness we have yet to resolve.”
“A weakness?” Patriarch Qingxuan looked at Sun Yi with curiosity. As a Nascent Soul ancestor, all he saw was a sect rising like a comet, thriving with unprecedented vitality. “What problem could we possibly have?”
“Headcount,” Sun Yi said bluntly. “Including Elder Ouyang Zhong and Elder Xia Xing, our entire sect possesses only seven Golden Core cultivators. That is dangerously thin. Even the Xuanyin Sect, which we just crushed, had numbers comparable to ours.”
He began to pace, his mind working through the threat assessment. “We must cultivate our own Golden Core experts, and fast. The future is volatile. If our secrets are exposed to the heavyweights in the Heavenly Saint Commandery, war is inevitable. We need a deterrent force.”
Sun Yi sighed, looking at the Patriarch apologetically. “It is a pity I cannot yet help you open a second Dantian or teach you the Split Spirit Technique. If we could rapidly elevate your realm, our safety margin would be much wider.”
Patriarch Qingxuan shook his head with a bitter smile. “At the Nascent Soul stage, rapid advancement is a fantasy. The sheer volume of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi required is astronomical. Even the Fourth Grade Spirit Vein at the Black Wind Stockade can barely support the daily meditation of three Nascent Soul cultivators.”
The old man sighed wistfully. “And that is merely maintenance, not advancement. If only we had a Fifth Grade Spirit Vein… but there are fewer than ten in the entire Tianyuan Continent, and certainly none in this barren Commandery.”
Sun Yi’s eyes narrowed. A spark of inspiration—the same spark that built the assembly lines—flared to life.
“Patriarch,” Sun Yi asked slowly, “if a Fifth Grade Spirit Vein accelerates cultivation… why can’t we just manufacture one?”
Qingxuan blinked. “Hehe, Spirit Veins are the work of Heaven and Earth. How could mortals forge them?”
Sun Yi waved a hand, dismissing the mystical limitation. “Let me rephrase. Patriarch, imagine a sealed space. Inside this space, the Spiritual Qi is pressurized to be a hundred, a thousand, perhaps even ten thousand times denser than the outside world. In such an environment, wouldn’t cultivation speed skyrocket?”
Patriarch Qingxuan smiled indulgently. “Legends speak of such ‘Blessed Lands’ where Qi is naturally concentrated. Cultivating there does yield miraculous results. But these are anomalies of nature, exceedingly rare. They cannot be built.”
“We built the Demon Refining Tower,” Sun Yi countered, a grin spreading across his face. “We engineer artifacts that defy logic daily. Why is a room different?”
Qingxuan paused, realizing Sun Yi was serious. He switched to a lecturing tone. “Spiritual Qi flows freely between Heaven and Earth, like water seeking its level. Only Spirit Gathering Arrays or natural veins can pool it, but even then, once the concentration hits a critical mass, it dissipates back into the atmosphere. It is a fundamental law—you cannot compress it indefinitely.”
Sun Yi’s mind raced, translating the magical theory into physics. It’s a containment issue. A pressure vessel problem.
“What if the room is hermetically sealed against Qi leakage?” Sun Yi proposed, his voice intensifying. “If we build a containment chamber that locks space itself, and then we crush Spirit Stones inside—releasing their energy into a closed loop—the density would have nowhere to go but up. A hyper-saturated Cultivation Space.”
“Uh…” Qingxuan hesitated, stroking his beard. “Theoretically… the logic holds. But a Spirit-Locking Space of that magnitude is nearly impossible. Qi permeates everything. Unless you can seal the fabric of space itself…”
“If the theory is sound,” Sun Yi interrupted, his eyes burning with the fire of a man who just saw a market gap, “then the rest is just engineering. We research it. We test it. If we build this, the bottleneck on our growth vanishes.”
“Furthermore,” Sun Yi added, “in such a pure, high-density environment, wouldn’t we bypass the issue of Pill Toxicity? We could cultivate indefinitely.”
“Excellent! This must be done!” Sun Yi slammed his fist into his palm, exhilarated. He had found his next project.
The urgency was personal. Recently, Sun Yi had been consuming Spirit Pills like candy. While his progress was fast, he had hit the dreaded wall of ‘Pill Toxicity’—drug resistance. The impurities were accumulating, and the pills were losing their potency.
Before he opened the Five Gates, this amount of resources would have pushed him to the mid-Foundation Establishment stage easily. But now, with his expanded capacity, he was still stuck at the early stage. To advance, he needed stronger drugs—pills meant for Golden Cores—or rare herbs he hadn’t built a resistance to yet.
But even those were stopgaps. Eventually, resistance would build again. The only sustainable fuel was raw Spiritual Qi.
The problem was throughput. Even with High Grade Spirit Stones, the absorption rate was too slow for Sun Yi’s ambition. The Third Grade Spirit Vein beneath his feet was insufficient.
In truth, Sun Yi’s speed was already terrifying. As a Three Spirit Root cultivator, going from Qi Refining level three to Foundation Establishment in a year was unheard of. But Sun Yi wasn’t comparing himself to the average cultivator; he was racing against time and looming threats.
Moreover, his speed was bought with a mountain of resources that only a Headmaster could command. What about the employees? The sect was full of disciples with Low Grade Spirit Roots. Despite the generous benefits and the Five Gates technique increasing their potential, their cultivation speed remained a crawl.
Sun Yi needed a systemic solution. A scalable way to mass-produce power.
If he could engineer this Cultivation Space, he wouldn’t just be solving his own bottleneck. He would be creating a factory for experts. It would be another piece of proprietary “Core Technology” for the Qingyun Sect—a magical hyperbolic time chamber that would change the game forever.
Sun Yi felt it was imperative to find a method to rapidly increase cultivation. This would not only solve his own problem but also address the cultivation issues of the sect’s disciples. Once the cultivation space was successfully created, the Qingyun Sect would gain another core technology.
