Moments ago, Mo Wen and his associates believed thirty million Spirit Stones had drained the Qingyun Sect’s liquidity dry. They never imagined Sun Yi would casually double down, opening his mouth to drop a purchase order worth fifty million.
Even for Golden Core cultivators hailing from a merchant alliance, this level of capital flow was staggering.
The Seven Star Tower, vast as it was, rarely encountered such a whale. In their eyes, the man sitting before them wasn’t just a sect leader; he was a living, breathing God of Wealth.
Mo Wen took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing his racing heart to match the rhythm of a calm merchant.
“Very well,” Mo Wen said, his voice trembling slightly with suppressed excitement. “Headmaster Sun, please proceed with your asset liquidation. We shall await your readiness.”
“Excellent. I invite our three distinguished VIPs to remain at the Qingyun Sect for two days while we process the transaction,” Sun Yi said, his tone resembling a CEO closing a merger rather than a cultivator discussing destiny. He turned to his side. “Elder Li Tai, execute the hospitality protocol. Arrange top-tier accommodations.”
Elder Li Tai nodded vigorously, standing up to address the merchants. “Honored guests, if you would please follow this old man.”
Mo Wen and his deacons understood the cue. The client needed to discuss internal strategy with his board. They stood, bowed politely, and followed Elder Li Tai out of the main hall, their footsteps light with the promise of commission.
Soon, the grand hall fell silent, leaving only Sun Yi, Elder Jin Jue, and Elder Qin Chu.
As soon as the merchants were out of earshot, Elder Jin Jue’s composure cracked. He looked at Sun Yi, anxiety etched into his weathered features.
“Headmaster,” he began, “isn’t placing such a massive order in a single tranche too reckless? We are exposing our wealth.”
“Indeed,” Elder Qin Chu added, his brow furrowed. “The Seven Star Tower is a behemoth. If they decide to simply take what we have…”
Sun Yi waved a hand, dismissing the panic. “I’ve run the risk assessment. It is slightly aggressive, yes, but our current growth curve demands it. Sometimes, you have to leverage capital to break a bottleneck.”
He leaned back in his throne, eyes cold and calculating. “I’ve analyzed the Seven Star Tower’s operational history. Their reputation is solid because their business model relies on trust. They are a merchant alliance, not a predatory sect. Their primary algorithm is profit maximization, not territorial conquest.”
“Furthermore,” Sun Yi continued, tapping his finger on the armrest, “even if they trace our supply chain back to the Myriad Demon Forest, they lack the encryption key—the Spirit Plate. To access the resource nodes efficiently, they must partner with us. We hold the leverage.”
The Elders exchanged glances, somewhat reassured by his logic, though the scale of the gamble still made them sweat.
“Now, onto internal development,” Sun Yi said, shifting gears. “We need to convert these incoming resources into raw power. Effective immediately, you five Golden Core Elders must begin a regimen of body tempering.”
He paused, letting the weight of his next words settle.
“Moving forward, the Qingyun Sect will adopt a full-stack architecture. We will pursue Trinity Cultivation: body tempering, Qi Refining, and spirit refining.”
A sharp light flashed in Sun Yi’s eyes. In his mind, he wasn’t just teaching them to punch harder; he was optimizing their hardware, software, and energy systems for maximum throughput.
Elder Jin Jue and Elder Qin Chu, however, looked like they had just been asked to ascend the heavens without a ladder.
“Headmaster,” Jin Jue said, a bitter smile twisting his lips. “With all due respect, Qi Refining alone consumes nearly all our bandwidth. If we add body tempering, our cultivation speed will crawl to a halt. The resource cost alone is unsustainable.”
“And spirit refining?” Qin Chu shook his head. “We don’t even have the documentation for that. We are completely blind in that field.”
If possible, every cultivator wanted to walk all three paths. But reality was harsh; most struggled to maintain just one.
“I am aware of the processing load,” Sun Yi said calmly. “But my simulations indicate that Trinity Cultivation is the most stable path to break through the Nascent Soul firewall. No matter the difficulty, we must upgrade the system architecture.”
He looked at them, his expression brokering no argument. “Do not worry about the ‘how’. I will handle the R&D. I am currently working on optimizing the efficiency protocols for both body and spirit cultivation. You just need to execute.”
Seeing Sun Yi’s absolute confidence, the two Elders sighed and nodded. They had learned that when Sun Yi proposed the impossible, it usually became possible.
“Headmaster, how should we distribute the body tempering resources?” Qin Chu asked.
“Body tempering is hard on the hardware,” Sun Yi replied. “It carries physical risks. Draft a sect-wide announcement: For disciples with Low Grade Spirit Roots, the prerequisite for the Foundation Establishment patch is now a specific tier of physical durability. Incentivize them to exchange merit points for body tempering resources first.”
“Understood. We will deploy the directive immediately,” Qin Chu said.
“One more thing,” Sun Yi said, a faint smile touching his lips. “I have acquired a hardware upgrade.”
“Oh?” Both Elders leaned in.
“I purchased a Mi Luo Beast corpse from Mo Wen. With this, I can initialize my final Dantian.”
Sun Yi’s eyes gleamed. “More importantly, the Seven Star Tower has a stable supply chain for these beasts. In the future, we can roll out the ‘Multiple Dantian’ upgrade to the wider disciple base.”
“What? They can source Mi Luo Beasts?” Elder Jin Jue’s eyes widened to the size of saucers.
To them, the Mi Luo Beast wasn’t just an animal; it was the Holy Grail of cultivation potential. They had watched Sun Yi’s power skyrocket and had been desperately waiting for their turn.
“Correct,” Sun Yi said, pleased by their reaction. “We will place bulk orders. Once we have live specimens, we will establish a breeding facility. I also intend to isolate the active compound within the beast’s biology. If I can synthesize that substance without needing to slaughter the beasts, the Qingyun Sect will truly own the source code for Dantian expansion.”
The two Elders were trembling with excitement now. The prospect of opening a second Dantian was enough to make an old monster weep with joy.
“Alright, focus,” Sun Yi snapped them back to reality. “The immediate task is the procurement list. Request Foundation Establishment Pills—the Seven Star Tower should have inventory.”
“Second, maximize the exchange for High Grade Spirit Stones. My data suggests they offer superior charging speeds. We need a stockpile for high-priority cultivation sessions.”
“Finally,” Sun Yi listed, ticking off a finger, “buy every obscure manual and raw material the Miscellaneous Arts Hall lacks. Once I install the Split Spirit Technique, I’m pivoting my research focus. I need to master Formations, Artifact Refining, and Talismans.”
He looked at them seriously. “Manufacturing Heavenly Soul Liquid requires a cross-disciplinary approach. I’ve already established a theoretical framework.”
The room went dead silent.
“Headmaster…” Elder Jin Jue stammered, staring at Sun Yi as if he were a monster. “You… you can really research a method to create Heavenly Soul Liquid?”
Heavenly Soul Liquid. A legendary consumable capable of repairing and boosting the soul. It was priceless.
“You aren’t jesting with this old man, are you?” Elder Qin Chu gasped.
Sun Yi waved his hand dismissively. “It’s not as complex as the market hype suggests. It’s simply a distillate extracted from soul entities via a specific filtration process.”
“I’ve analyzed the architecture of natural Soul Gathering Places, specifically the Soul Refining Valley. That gave me the schematic. I’ve also cross-referenced it with the cultivation algorithms of demonic cultivators.”
Sun Yi shrugged. “I have a roadmap. Give me three years, and I’ll have a prototype.”
“Demonic cultivators?” The Elders’ faces drained of color. “Headmaster, you’ve been studying forbidden arts?”
Sun Yi scoffed. “Don’t be superstitious. A technique is just a tool. A blade has no alignment; only the wielder does. I am merely auditing their code for efficient subroutines. I have no intention of installing their corrupted operating system.”
Hearing the modern logic—or at least the confidence behind it—the two Elders slowly relaxed. If anyone could strip the evil out of a demonic art and leave only the utility, it was Sun Yi.
The trio spent the next hour finalizing the sect’s roadmap. Meanwhile, on the main peak, Elder Li Tai had settled the VIPs into the most luxurious courtyard the Qingyun Sect had to offer.
After Li Tai bowed and retreated, Mo Wen gathered his two deacons in the main parlor.
With a sweep of his sleeve, Mo Wen cast a shimmering barrier that enveloped the room. It was a high-grade privacy seal.
“Secure,” Mo Wen muttered. “Even a Nascent Soul cultivator couldn’t decrypt our audio stream now.”
He sat down, his face serious. They were in the heart of a strange, rising power, and they had much to discuss.
