The Silver Pupil Giant Ape sensed the imminent system crash descending from the heavens.
It roared, rerouting all its demonic energy into its right arm. The limb swelled with power, veins bulging like steel cables, before it punched upward to intercept the golden orbital strike.
BOOM!
The impact was seismic.
The Red Gold Sword was knocked back, its trajectory destabilized. But the Ape wasn’t unscathed—it stumbled backward two steps, its energy shield flickering like a glitching monitor.
“Tanky,” Sun Yi noted, eyes narrowing. “Let’s test its multitasking.”
He injected more fuel from the Gold Gate into the sword.
Gold Sword Art: Tri-Core Processing.
The Red Gold Sword split into three distinct beams of light, assaulting the Ape from different vectors. Each beam hummed with enough voltage to fry a lesser beast instantly.
The Ape’s silver eyes flashed with cold malice. It didn’t dodge. Instead, it coated its fists in a dense layer of silver energy—a hardened firewall.
Slash!
The first beam arrived.
The Ape ducked under the trajectory and punched the energy construct.
Shatter.
The sword beam exploded into pixels of golden light. But the silver coating on the Ape’s fist dimmed significantly.
It didn’t have time to recharge. The second and third beams arrived in rapid succession.
Bang! Bang!
The Ape destroyed them both with terrifying brute force, treating Sun Yi’s high-level arts like cheap fireworks.
“Ranged DPS ineffective,” Sun Yi diagnosed. “Switching to melee configuration.”
He recalled the Red Gold Sword. Infusing it with the sharpest Metal Qi from his lung node, the weapon solidified into a four-foot golden ancient sword in his grip. The weight felt reassuring—like holding a fully loaded admin key.
Wind Thunder Step.
Sun Yi vanished, reappearing mid-charge.
The Ape roared, meeting him head-on.
Man and beast collided in the center of the valley.
Gold sword met silver fist.
KRAKOOM!
A shockwave flattened the surrounding terrain, blasting craters into the earth. The Ape slid back, its heels carving deep trenches. Sun Yi was forced to retreat several steps, his arm numb from the recoil.
“Good feedback,” Sun Yi grinned, his blood pumping. “Let’s increase the clock speed.”
They clashed again.
The valley became a blur of motion. Golden slashes and silver punches wove a tapestry of destruction. The ground was torn apart, leaving scars of battle everywhere.
Sun Yi was ecstatic. This wasn’t a fight; it was a stress test for his new hardware. He pushed his Gold Gate to its limits, overclocking his output.
The Ape was a perfect sparring partner—a relentless, high-spec combat machine with zero latency.
Thirty minutes later.
Sun Yi panted, his clothes tattered and his energy reserves flashing red. The Ape was also battered, its silver fur matted with blood and scorch marks.
Energy levels critical. Mission failure imminent.
“Pause simulation,” Sun Yi muttered.
He unleashed one final, heavy strike to create distance, then pulled out his Sect Leader token.
System Command: Exit.
The illusion dissolved. Sun Yi reappeared in the safety of the Battle Tower.
He didn’t leave. He sat down, popping two high-grade Spirit Stones like energy drinks.
“ROI on this mob is excellent,” he calculated. “Combat experience, technique refinement, and limit testing. It’s worth the capital expenditure.”
He drained the stones dry, refilling his Gold Gate in record time. Most cultivators would weep at the waste of resources, but Sun Yi treated Spirit Stones like disposable batteries. Time was the only currency that mattered.
Fully recharged, he re-entered the simulation.
“Round Two.”
For three days, Sun Yi engaged in a loop of violence.
Fight. Drain energy. Exit. Recharge. Repeat.
His efficiency skyrocketed. The Ape, once a formidable boss, was becoming predictable. Sun Yi optimized his movements, trimming wasted frames and redundant code.
On the third day.
Sun Yi stood opposite the Silver Pupil Giant Ape. The beast glared at him, its AI clearly frustrated by this unkillable pest.
Sun Yi’s aura had changed. It was sharper, more refined.
“Final iteration,” Sun Yi said calmly, pointing his sword at the beast. “Let’s test the 100% completion reward for the Gold Sword Art.”
The Red Gold Sword hovered above him, vibrating with intense power.
System Command: Dragon Transformation.
The blade dissolved into pure light, reshaping itself into a ten-meter golden dragon. The air screamed as the construct materialized, radiating a pressure that doubled Sun Yi’s previous output.
ROAR!
The golden dragon lunged, a phantom roar echoing through the valley.
The Ape bellowed, sensing its end. It gathered every scrap of demonic energy into a desperate, two-fisted smash.
BOOM!
The collision was blinding.
For a millisecond, the forces held in equilibrium.
Then, the Ape’s defense shattered. The dragon plowed through, obliterating the beast in a shower of light particles.
The simulation faded.
Sun Yi stood in the empty tower, panting but smiling.
“Objective complete.”
He checked his internal status. That final move had drained 25% of his total energy reserve. A heavy cost, but the burst damage was undeniable.
“Specs confirmed,” Sun Yi mused. “Current output rivals a mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator. Combined with the Red Gold Sword, I can now handle threats that previously required premium consumables from Patriarch Qingxuan.”
He sheathed the sword.
“Stress test concluded. Returning to R&D.”
He didn’t advance to the next floor. He had enough data. Now, he needed to study the Split Spirit Technique.
Sun Yi walked out of the tower, his mind already shifting gears. He felt like a student during finals week, fueled by caffeine and desperation, ready to devour textbooks until his brain melted.
“Time to hit the books.”
