Chapter 100: Yue Mingkong Schemes Against the Son of Providence; A Certain-Kill Situation?
In the blink of an eye, several days passed.
At noon, the sun hung high like a wheel of celestial fire, bathing the world in brilliance.
Suddenly, deep within the Daootian Immortal Palace, a pillar of divine light pierced the clouds. An earth-shattering roar erupted, sounding like the collapse of a majestic, ancient city or the awakening of a dormant god.
RUMBLE!
The terrifying commotion sent shockwaves through the sect, instantly stirring up a frenzy.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Streaks of divine rainbows shot up from every peak and floating island as countless disciples and Elders flew into the sky to investigate.
“Look! There’s five-colored immortal mist gushing out!” someone shouted.
But before anyone could see clearly, a massive palm, seemingly woven from the laws of the universe, descended from the void. An Elder of the Daootian Immortal Palace had acted, sealing the area and obscuring the phenomenon from prying eyes.
Despite the suppression, the incident caused a massive uproar. Disciples whispered excitedly, and news spread like wildfire.
Within hours, the shockwaves reached beyond the sect’s gates. Spies from various Immortal Sects and Supreme Orthodoxies relayed the intelligence back to their masters, stirring the winds of the Inner Domain.
“An Immortal Treasure has appeared in the depths of the Daootian Immortal Palace!”
Rumors had long circulated that the sect guarded a fragment of an ancient continent from the Immortal Ancient Era, moved there by supreme powerhouses eons ago. It was a land of untold opportunities—Immortal Ancient inscriptions, True Immortal scriptures, and lost artifacts.
Usually, this forbidden zone was strictly off-limits. But the soaring divine light had pushed the Daootian Immortal Palace into the spotlight.
Greed stirred in the hearts of the great powers.
“The Daootian Immortal Palace usually monopolizes these opportunities, but this light reached the heavens. How can they swallow it alone?”
Many high-ranking figures from other sects had once cultivated as disciples in the Daootian Immortal Palace. Using these old ties, they planned to send their own juniors to “visit” and share in the fortune.
For a time, Immeasurable Heaven became the center of the world. Divine rainbows, flying warships, and luxurious carriages converged from all directions, turning the sky into a bustling highway of elites.
Immeasurable Heaven, A Remote Ancient City.
Rumble!
The sky trembled as nine ferocious beasts, resembling divine phoenixes, pulled a magnificent black-gold carriage through the clouds. It crushed the air beneath its wheels, descending toward the quiet city with an aura of undeniable nobility.
The grand arrival immediately attracted the attention of the local cultivators.
“Who is that?”
“Such a grand procession… the person inside must be of incredible status.”
“Why come here? Everyone else is heading to the Daootian Ancient City. This place is a backwater.”
Inside a pavilion overlooking the street, a man in black robes sat by the window. His appearance was ordinary, but his tall stature and reserved demeanor hinted at hidden depths. He looked up at the descending carriage.
“A black-gold carriage pulled by nine phoenixes… Judging by the totem patterns, could it be from the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty?”
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Only a Princess would have such a guard of honor.”
On his chest hung a simple black pendant. Unseen by others, mysterious runes flickered faintly on its surface.
“This place isn’t far from the Daootian Ancient City,” the man muttered to himself. “I heard the First Beauty of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty, Princess Yue Mingkong, possesses the bearing of a future Empress. Could it be her?”
A strange smile touched his lips as he gazed at the landing spot of the carriage.
Suddenly, an exasperated voice rang out from the black pendant.
“Brat! Don’t forget why we’re here. There is a great Fated Chance waiting for you in the Daootian Immortal Palace!”
“Don’t get distracted by women! Even if it is a Princess of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty, she is way out of your league right now.”
Hearing this, the man in black shrugged dismissively.
“Taking a look won’t hurt, Old Turtle. Besides, it’s not necessarily her. And why would a high-and-mighty Princess come to a dump like this?”
He stood up and left the pavilion, ignoring the nagging voice in his pendant. He followed the direction of the carriage.
Blackstone Ancient City.
“Your Highness, we have arrived at Blackstone Ancient City.”
Outside the carriage, a white-robed old woman spoke respectfully.
Inside, Yue Mingkong sat in meditative silence. Her eyes, usually sharp with calculation, were momentarily lost in thought. The voice brought her back. She narrowed her phoenix eyes and nodded slightly.
“Blackstone Ancient City,” she thought. “According to my memories, this is where Ye Ling, the heir of the Ancient Reincarnation Heavenly Venerate, first began his rise to fame.”
“In the coming days, this man will shake the world. He will defeat Ye Langtian, the Successor of the Immemorial Ye Clan, and steal his thunder. For a time, his fame even eclipsed Gu Changge’s. He gathered powerful allies—the Young Masters of the White Tiger Clan and the Purple-Winged Divine Dragon Clan—and built a formidable power base.”
Yue Mingkong’s expression was cold.
She was here for one thing: the Reincarnation Talisman.
It contained the true meaning of Samsara, a supreme power capable of contending with Gu Changge’s Forbidden Demonic Art. In her past life, she had been ignorant of its value until it was too late. In this life, she would seize it.
She also knew Ye Ling was not simple.
He was one of the few who had survived an encounter with Gu Changge in her previous timeline. Though he eventually vanished, likely killed or forced into hiding, his tenacity was proven.
“In the past, Ye Ling possessed the talisman and nearly died at my husband’s hands. If I obtain it, I must be even more careful.”
Yue Mingkong looked out the window, her gaze piercing the stone walls of the ancient city.
She had already laid an inescapable net. Now, she just had to wait.
Why was she so certain Ye Ling would come?
Because in her past life, Ye Ling had been infatuated with her. After defeating Ye Langtian, he had even arrogantly declared he would snatch her away from Gu Changge.
That declaration was his death warrant. Gu Changge had hunted him down shortly after.
Back then, Yue Mingkong had naively thought Gu Changge acted out of jealousy or possessiveness. Now, she realized he likely just wanted the Reincarnation Talisman.
Gu Changge hunts for Origins. He would never ignore the Origin of Reincarnation.
“Currently, Ye Ling is at most in the Conferred Lord Realm,” Yue Mingkong mused, her aura turning icy. “This city will be his burial ground.”
She didn’t care about the morality of killing a Son of Providence. To her, Ye Ling was just an ant carrying a treasure she needed.
Suddenly, her senses tingled.
Someone was approaching.
Young. Vigorous blood energy. Clearly a cultivator with a powerful body-tempering technique.
Yue Mingkong’s phoenix eyes narrowed. She raised her jade-like hand and waved forward.
Hum!
The void trembled silently.
Hidden in the shadows, several terrifying auras locked down the space around the mansion, sealing the area.
Outside the Mansion.
“This is where the carriage landed…”
Ye Ling frowned, stopping in front of the majestic, ancient estate.
“Why do I feel so uneasy?”
Although he loved beautiful women, he wasn’t stupid. His instincts had saved his life countless times. Standing here, a chill ran down his spine.
“Brother Turtle,” Ye Ling whispered to his pendant. “Should I go in or not?”
The pendant contained the remnant soul of an old turtle, who claimed to be the mount of the Ancient Reincarnation Heavenly Venerate. It was this turtle who had guided him to the inheritance in an underground cave years ago.
“You’re already at the doorstep, and now you’re scared?” the Old Turtle scoffed. “Weren’t you bold enough when you were flirting with those Holy Maidens before? What, afraid of a Princess?”
Ye Ling nodded, feeling a bit foolish. “You’re right. I haven’t even met them; why would they want to harm me? I’m just being paranoid.”
Besides, he had heard rumors of Princess Yue Mingkong’s beauty and talent. He admired her. If he could meet her today, surely it was fate?
As for her fiancé, Gu Changge? Ye Ling didn’t care. He was already surpassing Ye Langtian; Gu Changge would just be another stepping stone.
He straightened his robes and stepped toward the gate.
BOOM!
The moment his foot crossed the threshold, an ethereal voice rang out from within. It was beautiful, melodious, and utterly cold.
“Kill him.”
Ye Ling’s face went pale.
“Not good!”
