Looking at the System Panel, Gu Changge smiled elegantly. “Who said the Villain has to lose? Who said the Hero gets the girl?”

Chapter 126: Absolutely Gu Changge’s Framing; Strength Enough to Slaughter Saints

While the rest of the world was in a frenzy over the opening of the Immortal Ancient Continent, a remote courtyard in Daootian Ancient City remained deathly still. Inside, Ye Ling—now sporting a fair, scholarly face and an entirely altered aura—paced the floor with a dark scowl.

“Old Turtle, the White Tiger clan has half the city under lockdown. Are you sure this disguise will hold?” Ye Ling asked, his voice low and tight.

Even with his origin aura masked by the power of reincarnation, the constant talk of “origin-revealing treasures” had him on edge. He was the most hated man in the Upper Realm, a “Demonic Art Inheritor” whose head was worth a fortune. The injustice of it all made his blood boil; he hadn’t touched the forbidden arts, yet he was being hunted like a rabid dog.

“Peace, boy,” a voice emanated from the pendant at his chest. A burst of light revealed a white jade old turtle. It had the air of a sage, but its shifty, bead-like eyes ruined the effect. “The secret techniques of the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign aren’t things these kittens can sniff out. If they find you, I’ll let you stew me into a soup.”

Ye Ling exhaled, though his knuckles remained white. “I will find the one who did this. When I do, I’ll grind their bones to dust.”

“The man in white from that night is the key,” the Old Turtle analyzed. “He’s likely the true inheritor. He didn’t just kill Bai Lie; he calculated your every move.”

“But I’ve never met him! Why me?” Ye Ling racked his brain. “Is it Ye Langtian? No… if he had this kind of power, he wouldn’t need to play games. This person has been cultivating right under the nose of the Daootian Immortal Palace.”

Ye Ling’s eyes narrowed as the pieces began to click together. “Wait… Yue Mingkong tried to ambush me before. She’s Gu Changge’s fiancée. If she knew about my inheritance, Gu Changge definitely knew. I ruled him out because his status was too high, but now…”

He felt a cold shiver crawl up his spine. “The successor of the Daootian Immortal Palace, the Young Master of the Immortal Gu Family… Gu Changge. He has the most to gain by having a scapegoat.”

“If it’s him, this is terrifying,” the Old Turtle said solemnly. “Under the very eyes of the Elders, the Successor is a demon. He’s the Emperor of his generation; no one would dare believe you.”

“That narrow-minded petty bastard!” Ye Ling hissed, his fear turning into a manic fighting spirit. “He thinks he can play with me like a toy? Fine. Let him have his True Immortal talent. I’ve survived worse. I’ll tear that mask off his face and show the world what he really is!”

Just then, a sharp knock at the gate interrupted his rage.

“Is anyone there?” a cold, familiar voice called out.

“Chi Ling!” Ye Ling’s face brightened. He hurried to open the door. Among everyone, he still trusted the Vermilion Bird Heavenly Maiden.

Chi Ling entered, blinking at his new face. “I almost didn’t recognize you, Ye Ling.”

“I have to live like a ghost now,” he sighed, pouring her a cup of tea. He recounted his ordeal, and Chi Ling’s expression softened with genuine sympathy.

“Don’t worry,” she said firmly. “I’ve contacted a certain big shot. He believes you’ve been framed. We’re going to work together to prove your innocence.”

Ye Ling was stunned. “An ‘important person’? Who would risk helping me now?”

“I can’t tell you his name yet,” Chi Ling said, thinking of Gu Changge’s “warm-hearted” concern. “But his influence among the younger generation is peerless. He’s a true man of righteousness.”

Ye Ling felt a surge of gratitude. A benefactor in my darkest hour! He didn’t know that his “benefactor” was currently the one polishing the “Black Pot” he was carrying.

Meanwhile, in the central palace of Wushang Peak, Gu Changge was far from righteous.

With the world distracted by the “Demonic Art Inheritor” Ye Ling, Gu Changge had become utterly unrestrained. Yin Mei, his hidden pawn, stood before him, reporting the harvest.

“Master, the various sects have tightened security, but the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox clan’s reach is long. In three days, we’ve secured over 300 Soul Palace Realm cultivators, 50 Holy Lord Realm experts, and even a few at the Conferred King Realm.”

“Well done,” Gu Changge remarked. He didn’t care for the Daootian Immortal Scripture’s slow pace. Why study when you can devour?

He spent half a quarter-hour in the dungeon, the pitch-black Great Dao Treasure Vessel hovering above him. Strands of dark light cascaded down, siphoning the essence of his captives until his spirit sea roared like a storm.

The Heavenly God Realm is a wall, but for the Immortal Devouring Demonic Art, there are no walls—only a lack of fuel.

He opened his system interface, his eyes landing on a new talent: Transcendence.

“Transcendence… a name that carries a heavy karma,” he mused. At 30,000 Destiny Points per bone, it was a price that would bankrupt anyone else. But for Gu Changge, it was an investment.

He selected the bone adjacent to his Great Dao Bone and initiated the exchange.

BOOM!

A sensation of absolute clarity washed over him. It was as if he had leaped over the Dragon Gate. The divine abilities he previously treated as “techniques” were now evolving into “Rules.” In the cultivation world, only those at the Saint Realm could even begin to touch the essence of Rules. Yet here he was, at the Heavenly God Realm, already wielding them.

He flexed his hand, feeling the space around his fingers distort.

“So,” Gu Changge murmured, a dangerous smile spreading across his face. “With my current foundations… I should be able to slaughter a Saint.”

He closed the interface and stepped out of the palace, his eyes turning toward the Immortal Ancient Continent. The stage was set, and the “hero” was already walking into his trap.
