Chapter 151: Actually, What I Love Most Is Indiscriminate Killing. Playing Cat and Mouse Is Quite Interesting
Inside the pavilion, an icy chill gripped the golden-winged middle-aged woman. At this moment, even her soul trembled. She didn’t dare turn her head, terrified the young Ancient Immortal beings behind her would see the color entirely drained from her face.
Gu Changge!
How had he found her? When did he even slip inside? Why had the myriad Ancient Immortal beings standing guard outside failed to notice him?
A bone-deep cold washed over the middle-aged woman. She hailed from the Golden Crow Clan—though, of course, she only possessed a fraction of their bloodline and was not a true Golden Crow. Even so, as a Heavenly God Realm cultivator, she was considered an elite among her peers.
Yet facing Gu Changge, all she felt was suffocating dread. This young man was terrifyingly powerful.
Worst of all, she had just been slandering him behind his back. Gu Changge had undoubtedly heard every single word. Utter despair threatened to swallow her whole.
“Why stop? Please, continue. I’m quite curious,” Gu Changge prompted.
He casually picked a seat and settled in, a faint, breezy smile playing on his lips as if he were lounging in his own courtyard. He lacked even the slightest hint of awkwardness or fear.
The young Ancient Immortal beings in the pavilion exchanged dazed looks. Their minds hadn’t quite processed why a human had suddenly strolled into their private gathering. Most only knew Gu Changge by his fearsome reputation; none had actually seen his face. Rumors painted him as a grotesque, brutal monster, so they completely failed to connect the dreaded name with the elegantly handsome, immortal-like youth sitting before them.
“Who are you? How did you get in?” a beautiful young woman with feathered wings demanded, her brow furrowing in sharp displeasure.
Like the rest of her kind, she held zero goodwill toward the human race. To beings who prized their ancient and noble bloodlines above all else, humans were nothing more than despicable mud. The recent influx of humans into the Ancient Immortal Continent had only deepened their immense disgust.
“Through the door, naturally,” Gu Changge replied smoothly. “It was right there, and no one stopped me.”
After all, who could restrict his casual strolls through the void? Unless a Saint Realm expert completely locked down the local space, he could come and go like a ghost. And in a remote, insignificant city like this, how many Saint Realm experts could possibly be hiding? He was practically omnipotent here.
The youths frowned, clearly skeptical. This was an exclusive gathering. Without an invitation, walking through the front door was impossible. How could a random human have obtained one? Were the guards outside blind?
“Gu—” The golden-winged woman finally found her voice, though it quavered pitifully. Before she could expose him, Gu Changge cut her off with a light, cheerful chuckle.
“We’ve been old friends for so many days now. There’s no need for such formalities.”
Considering he had been relentlessly hunting her for days, calling her an “old friend” wasn’t technically a lie.
She forced a smile that looked far worse than crying. “Young Master, surely you jest…”
Cold sweat drenched her back. Standing before him felt like staring into the maw of a peerless primordial beast. She couldn’t even form a coherent sentence. Gu Changge possessed the sheer strength to slaughter everyone in the room without breaking a sweat. With their lives pinched between his fingers, she didn’t dare breathe his true identity. She didn’t know his endgame, but she knew it meant nothing but death.
“Auntie, who is this guy?” another young golden-winged woman asked, clearly annoyed but refraining from immediately tossing Gu Changge out.
“Xue’er…” The middle-aged woman smiled bitterly, her heart practically hammering against her ribs in sheer terror. What could she possibly say?
Gu Changge remained blissfully oblivious to the room’s mounting hostility. He lazily poured himself a cup of wine, brought it to his lips, and took a measured sip.
“Not a bad vintage,” he praised with a smile. “It actually contains the essence of several immortal fruits…”
A young man sneered contemptuously. “Of course it is. This wine is exclusive to the Ancient Immortal Continent. You outsiders could never dream of tasting it, let alone seeing it.”
Gu Changge nodded in polite agreement. “True. But that’s fine; I’ll have plenty of chances to drink it in the future.”
None of them grasped the dark implication behind his words. Yet, an inexplicable, creeping dread settled over the room. The aura radiating from this young man was chillingly abnormal.
“Just who the hell are you? What are you doing crashing our banquet?” someone finally snapped.
They couldn’t read Gu Changge’s cultivation base, but given his apparent age, they assumed he couldn’t be that formidable. Outside cultivators were notoriously weak for their age. Even the great Lord Long Teng, who had been a full major realm above his opponent, was only killed because the human used despicable, underhanded tricks!
It was a festering wound in their collective pride. Staring at this arrogant human, they had half a mind to blast him into a bloody mist right then and there.
“Who I am matters very little. What matters is that your earlier conversation caught my interest,” Gu Changge replied casually, sweeping his gaze across the furious crowd.
Oh, how he loved playing cat and mouse.
He shot a loaded glance at the golden-winged woman. The unspoken threat was clear: Utter my name, and everyone here dies.
She understood instantly. Her face blanched to the color of bleached bone, and her body shook like a leaf in a hurricane.
“Auntie, what’s wrong?” Xue’er asked, noticing the elder’s violent trembling.
“I-I’m fine… completely fine…” she stammered, shaking her head frantically.
The youths weren’t fools; the tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a blade. Why was a Heavenly God Realm expert of the Golden Crow Clan suddenly acting like terrified prey the moment this human walked in?
This is the heart of our Ancient Immortal territory, someone scoffed internally. No matter how arrogant this bastard is, what could he possibly dare do to us here?
“What were we saying?” The beautiful feathered woman sneered, her eyes burning with hatred. “We were talking about that despicable scum, Gu Changge! We’re going to slaughter him and avenge Lord Long Teng!”
“He’s supposed to be your human race’s young genius!” another chimed in angrily. “Yet he used dirty, underhanded methods in a fair duel to kill Lord Long Teng! We won’t ever forget this grudge!”
The room erupted in a chorus of vitriol, all their simmering hatred for Gu Changge spilling over. None of them noticed that the golden-winged woman had turned her back to them, shaking so hard her teeth rattled, her face utterly devoid of blood.
“Oh?” Gu Changge’s expression remained perfectly serene, his tone laced with genuine curiosity. “What underhanded methods did this Gu Changge use?”
He showed absolutely zero self-awareness of being the ‘despicable scum’ in question.
“Hmph! That coward launched a sneak attack during the duel! Then, he took our Ancient Immortal kin hostage, threatening to butcher them if Lord Long Teng dared to fight back!”
“Lord Long Teng sacrificed himself for the greater good! Otherwise, how could a pathetic Void God Realm trash ever scratch him?”
The mere mention of the event ignited their fury anew. The pavilion buzzed with righteous indignation and suffocating killing intent.
“Ah, I see,” Gu Changge murmured, taking another leisurely sip of his wine. He nodded sagely. “It seems this Gu Changge truly is a shameless, despicable villain.”
The youths blinked, completely thrown off balance. They had expected this human to ardently defend his race’s champion. His immediate, calm agreement left them speechless. A few even felt their hostility towards him wane slightly.
“At least you have eyes,” the feathered woman snorted, though her venom was still directed elsewhere. “It seems Gu Changge is despised even among his own kind. I don’t know who gave him the title of ‘Young Taboo,’ but he doesn’t deserve it! I wish I could grind his bones to dust!”
By now, the golden-winged woman’s soul practically left her body. Gu Changge’s oppressive aura was entirely locked onto her. If she even breathed wrong, he would obliterate her with a thunderous strike. She didn’t dare make a sound.
“However, I do believe you are mistaken about one minor detail,” Gu Changge said, his smile as warm and inviting as a gentle spring breeze.
“Mistaken? About what?” someone asked, momentarily entranced by his disarming demeanor.
“Gu Changge is indeed despicable and shameless,” Gu Changge said mildly. “But what he actually loves most is indiscriminate slaughter. Especially when it comes to those who slander him behind his back—he shows absolutely no mercy.”
He tilted his head, glancing at the trembling elder behind him. “Isn’t that right?”
The middle-aged woman jumped as if struck by lightning. She whipped around, her face twisted in a panicked, ghastly smile. “Y-Young Master, what are you saying? That’s all false! Complete fiction!” She frantically waved her hands. “Those rumors are just malicious slander! During that battle, Long Teng was simply overpowered. He had no strength to resist at all…”
The young Ancient Immortals stared at her, utterly stupefied. Had they heard her correctly?
“What nonsense are you spouting?!” a youth roared, his face flushed crimson. “How could Lord Long Teng possibly lose in a head-on clash?”
It was a complete fantasy! An impossibility!
“Lord Long Teng was born invincible! He was destined to conquer this era! He was the supreme leader of our generation! He could never lose to a lowly human!” they screamed, their fundamental beliefs viciously insulted.
The middle-aged woman whimpered, her legs giving out. She wanted to scream at them to shut up, to order them to their knees, but it was far too late.
“Yes, what nonsense are you spouting?” Gu Changge reprimanded her lightly, his smile turning dangerously sharp. “I, Gu Changge, am merely a despicable villain. How could I possibly be as strong as you claim?”
What?!
The air was instantly sucked from the room. The youths froze as if plunged into an abyss of absolute zero.
The feathered woman who had just been demanding his brutal death stood paralyzed, a trembling finger pointed at him, her jaw unhinged.
“Y-you… what did you just say?” she gasped, her mind snapping under the weight of sheer disbelief.
Had they misheard? This elegant, smiling youth sitting in front of them… was Gu Changge?
As reality crashed down upon them, their eyes bulged with visceral terror. Their blood ran cold. They had just been vehemently cursing Gu Changge… directly to his face!
Their scalps went entirely numb.
“Weren’t you just declaring your grand ambitions to kill me and avenge your precious Long Teng?” Gu Changge mocked, his eyes glinting with the dark amusement of a predator toying with cornered mice. “Well, here I am.”
With a casual sweep of his sleeve, the entire pavilion shuddered violently. Thick, oppressive mist surged from the floorboards, and blinding runes carved into the void, sealing the structure within an isolated pocket dimension.
“No—!”
The feathered woman shrieked in absolute despair. Before she could even summon her mana, an invisible, crushing force smashed into her. She instantly detonated into a fine mist of blood and shattered bone. Her form and spirit were thoroughly annihilated.
The remaining youths snapped out of their stupor. There would be no negotiations. This was a battle for their very survival.
“Fight him!”
“Avenge Lord Long Teng!”
“Kill him!”
Driven by equal parts burning rage and suffocating terror, they realized the space was completely locked. The only exit was over Gu Changge’s dead body.
Boom!
Dazzling divine lights erupted from their forms, illuminating the sealed pavilion. They summoned magical artifacts, crushed divine talismans, and roared as they unleashed their ultimate techniques, charging at the great villain with the tragic heroism of martyrs marching to their deaths.
“Gu Changge! If you want blood, take mine! Let them go!” Having abandoned all hope of playing dumb, the Golden Crow elder stepped in front of him, her voice trembling but resolute.
Her Heavenly God Realm cultivation erupted. A terrifying, boundless Heavenly God Dharma Body materialized behind her, vast as a swirling galaxy, threatening to tear the very pavilion apart.
“Let them go?” Gu Changge scoffed, a chilling smirk curling his lips. “And who, pray tell, will let me go?”
Rumble!
A palm seemingly forged from the weight of billions of stars descended from the heavens. The void shattered, and the artificial sky within the pavilion cracked under the sheer, apocalyptic pressure.
Pfft!
The Golden Crow elder violently coughed up a geyser of black blood. Struck as if by divine tribulation lightning, she was swatted into the floorboards like a bothersome fly. Her Dharma Body shattered instantly, and the sickening crunch of countless breaking bones echoed through the room.
“H-How can you be this strong…?” she gasped, her eyes clouded with utter despair.
She was a Heavenly God! A supreme existence capable of slaughtering an entire city with a flick of her wrist! She knew she couldn’t defeat Gu Changge, but she had assumed he would at least have to exert some effort. Yet, she couldn’t even withstand a casual slap?!
Her soul quaked. The despair was absolute. Long Teng’s death was no accident. This Young Taboo possessed power so suffocating it bred only hopelessness. If the older generation couldn’t stand against him, what chance did his peers ever have?
“Impossible!”
“Even Auntie fell in one strike?!”
“She’s a Heavenly God! Was… was Lord Long Teng truly crushed in a fair fight?!”
Witnessing their strongest protector swatted down like an insect, the charging youths lost all will to fight. What were they supposed to do against a monster like this?
“A pity,” Gu Changge sighed. “I truly wanted to play a bit longer.” Despite his words, his tone was entirely devoid of sympathy.
Boom!
He moved. Stripped of all patience, he thrust his palm forward, instantly crossing the spatial divide and tearing the confined universe in half. Because the space was entirely sealed, not a single sound leaked to the outside world.
A cataclysmic aura coalesced into a massive, grinding millstone of pure energy. It descended upon the youths with an overbearing gravity that shattered their resistance instantly.
“No—!”
“I don’t want to die!”
Agonizing screams were brutally cut short as, one by one, the young prodigies popped like blood-filled balloons. Their desperate artifacts and ultimate techniques were as fragile as wet paper against the crushing weight of the millstone. The gap in power was simply insurmountable.
Soon, the pavilion was painted in gore. Only a single survivor remained—a pale, feathered woman who huddled in the corner, staring at Gu Changge with saucer-wide eyes filled with absolute, mind-breaking terror.
“P-please… don’t kill me…” she sobbed, shivering uncontrollably. The combined might of her peers hadn’t even scratched his robes. He wasn’t an opponent; he was a natural disaster.
Gu Changge glanced down at her and offered a gentle smile. “No rush. I won’t kill you just yet.”
“Why… why are you doing this?” the crippled Golden Crow elder gasped from the floor. Reaching the absolute limit of her despair, she desperately tried to summon her Heavenly God Realm magical artifact.
Gu Changge merely flicked his wrist. Bang! The legendary weapon violently detonated in the void, reduced to worthless ash by a single, casual strike.
“You saw something you shouldn’t have. Who else is there to blame?” Gu Changge replied breezily, stepping over the viscera as if he had merely stomped on a nest of ants.
“I swear by my Dao heart! I will never speak of it! Please, just spare my life!” the elder begged, prostrating herself in the pooling blood. She had never imagined that a single errant thought would bring upon her such total annihilation. She just wanted to live.
“Compared to a Dao heart oath, I find that I trust the dead far more,” Gu Changge replied softly. He was a man of meticulous planning; he never left loose ends.
His hand dropped. A final burst of energy obliterated the Golden Crow elder, erasing her form and spirit from the mortal coil.
The massacre complete, he didn’t immediately leave. Instead, he stood amidst the carnage, waiting patiently for the perfect moment. He had absolutely zero intention of cleaning up the scene. If he hid the bodies, how would the world ever know about his “good deeds”?
The lone feathered survivor was practically catatonic. Earlier, she had been shouting about taking his head to avenge Long Teng; now, she was huddled in her own filth, completely broken.
“Speaking of which, it’s about time someone noticed the abnormality here,” Gu Changge murmured to himself. Timing it perfectly, he dissolved the isolation runes.
Instantly, a thick, nauseating stench of blood exploded into the outside streets.
The passing Ancient Immortal natives immediately caught the scent.
“Heavens, what is that stench?”
“Is that blood?!”
“What happened over there?!”
Shocked murmurs rippled through the crowd as cultivators rushed toward the source of the metallic reek.
“Damn it!” Several powerful elders in the vicinity sensed the tragedy. Their expressions contorted in pure, unadulterated fury as they tore through the air toward the pavilion.
Bursting through the doors, they were greeted by a scene straight from hell. Amidst the drifting crimson mist and shredded corpses, a young man was casually choking the life out of the Winged Human Race’s talented daughter, snapping her neck right before their eyes.
He paused, glancing over his shoulder with an air of mild surprise. “Oh? You actually noticed?”
Before the enraged elders could even summon their weapons, the void behind the youth rippled and blurred. He calmly turned and stepped into the spatial tear, vanishing without a trace.
The Ancient Immortal experts crashed into the pavilion a second too late. Looking at the slaughtered remains of their most promising youths, their faces turned green with absolute, maddening rage. They threw their heads back and roared at the heavens.
“Damn it all! Slaughtering our kin in our own territory! This is pushing us too far!” The sheer volume of their furious, hatred-filled roars shook the very foundations of the city. Among the dead were their own flesh and blood! This blood debt had to be paid in full!
But the most agonizing, infuriating detail of all? The spatial distortion had been so intense that they hadn’t even caught a clear glimpse of the murderer’s face.
