Chapter 132: Giving Myself a Thumbs Up for My Wit; Pulling Hatred Toward Gu Changge

Boom!

Gu Xian’er’s eyes were cold as she accelerated, celestial light wings erupting from her back. She closed the distance in a blur, her small, white hand—fair as polished jade—clenching into a fist. She struck out with a force that surged like a primordial beast, her pale golden blood and Qi thrumming through the air.

“What…?”

The young female supreme of the Mermaid Dragon Clan gasped. Gu Xian’er’s speed was unnatural, as if she had simply deleted the distance between them.

Pfft!

The Mermaid Dragon girl desperately activated her divine abilities. The webbing on her arms hardened into serrated blades of light capable of cleaving mountains, but they were useless against Xian’er’s momentum. The sound of shattering bone echoed through the valley followed by a guttural scream. The young supreme was sent hurtling backward, her expression one of pure horror. Xian’er’s fist had pulverized her guard and nearly detonated the entire left side of her torso.

The onlookers in the distance felt a chill run down their spines. This slender girl in green possessed a physical strength that defied her delicate appearance.

“Tricky,” the other young supreme muttered, narrowing his eyes as he retreated a few steps. He was higher in cultivation than Xian’er, yet he had failed to gain any ground in their initial clash. To be a young supreme of the upper-middle tier and find oneself stymied by a mere girl was a bitter pill to swallow. His companion lay in a pool of her own blood, her body pierced through by the residual shockwaves.

Gu Xian’er had repelled them both, but she didn’t look relieved. The white mist was growing thicker, saturated with the ancient formation patterns the Sea Clan had deployed to turn this land into their personal domain.

“Worthless trash!”

A voice like cracking ice drifted from the horizon. The Seventh Princess of the Sea King Palace sat tall upon her golden warhorse, looking down at the carnage with disdain. Her presence was overwhelming; though she was small in stature, her aura towered over the mountain-sized Sea Clan warriors standing behind her. In her hand, a golden spear hummed with the power of a peak Conferred King Realm.

She didn’t descend. Like a patient hunter, she watched the “cat and mouse” game with a mocking glint in her eyes.

“Capture her!” the Princess commanded. She wanted Gu Xian’er to taste despair before the end. Only by torturing the girl could she hope to satisfy the rage she felt over her brother’s death.

“How dare you ruin my body!”

The Mermaid Dragon girl shrieked, her torso knitting back together in a grotesque display of regeneration. She had underestimated Gu Xian’er and paid for it in blood. Now, fueled by humiliation, she charged again.

Her partner also shifted into his true form—a massive, thunderous fish that crushed the clouds as it swam through the air. Thousands of blue runes rained down like a storm of electrified needles, blanketing Gu Xian’er’s position.

The battle reignited with a violence that made the stars seem to tremble. The shockwaves were so intense that the lesser cultivators were forced to retreat miles just to breathe.

“She’s fighting two at once and holding her own…”

“Formidable. No wonder she could slaughter so many Sea Clan scouts. It’s a pity she crossed the one person she shouldn’t have.”

Pfft!

Finally, the attrition took its toll. Under the weight of the combined siege and the constant barrage from the Sea Clan vanguard, Gu Xian’er’s face went white. She spat out a mouthful of blood, her slender body tumbling through the air like a kite with a snapped string.

“Kill her! She’s failing!”

The Sea Clan warriors roared with delight. The two young supremes accelerated, their eyes gleaming with the predatory light of victory as they prepared to deliver the final blow.

Boom! Rumble!

The valley was submerged in a sea of blinding light. Cultivators shielded their eyes from the glare.

Now!

In the midst of her “fall,” Gu Xian’er’s eyes suddenly sharpened with a triumphant glint. Her momentum halted instantly. She flicked her wrist, and a golden, shimmering sword talisman appeared in her palm.

A terrifying surge of killing intent erupted. The talisman unleashed a beam of sword light containing the full power of a True God Realm strike. The sudden explosion caught the Sea Clan off guard; those in the front row were vaporized instantly, their bodies disintegrating into bloody mist.

“Cunning brat. You really are more trouble than you’re worth,” the Seventh Princess snorted.

With a casual flick of her wrist, she hurled her golden halberd. It tore through the firmament, piercing the void with a sound that shattered the eardrums of those nearby.

Pfft…

Gu Xian’er’s face drained of color. She managed to deploy a top-grade defensive artifact, but the impact sent a shudder through her soul. Her golden sword talisman was detonated prematurely, shattering into useless fragments.

“Hiss! That was just a casual toss!”

“She has the power to slaughter True Gods! Is this the invincible talent of the Sea King Palace?”

The onlookers were paralyzed with fear. Most young supremes were mere children compared to this. To reach the peak of the Conferred King Realm at such an age and possess True God-level combat power—not even Gu Changge, the so-called True Immortal, could surely top that?

Gu Xian’er stood alone, her face stained with blood, facing an army and a princess of the deep. It was, by all definitions, an unfair fight.

“Ah, if only I were stronger, I would save her,” one young prodigy whispered, though his feet remained glued to the spot.

“She’s a Gu, but the Young Master hasn’t shown his face. He clearly wants nothing to do with her.”

“They say they’re enemies. No wonder the Daootian Immortal Palace disciples are staying out of it. Why risk Gu Changge’s wrath to save someone he hates?”

The whispers reached Xian’er’s ears. She felt a strange, cold calm wash over her. She knew she had her Masters’ artifacts as a last resort, but thinking about using those precious treasures—which she had intended to save for her final showdown with Gu Changge—made her “miserly” heart ache.

I’ll pin this debt on Gu Changge’s head too, she decided.

“Cunning in mind, cruel in hand,” the Seventh Princess said, her spear returning to her grip. “You have no future.”

Her followers returned to her side, looking sullen. They had almost been wiped out by a “weakling,” and the shame was burning them alive. They wanted to tear Xian’er limb from limb.

“No future? I don’t see any ‘nobility’ in you. Just a bully hiding behind an army,” Gu Xian’er replied. She stood in the air, her bare feet white against the dark clouds, her hair dancing like silk. Even injured, she possessed an ethereal, peerless grace that made her look like a celestial flower standing in a storm.

“Bullying?” The Princess smiled mockingly. “I am stronger, so I kill you. Is there a problem?”

“None. Just make sure I never surpass you,” Xian’er retorted calmly.

“You won’t get that chance. No one can save you today. Did you think of mercy when you slaughtered my brother?” The Princess’s eyes were black with malice. She wouldn’t let the girl die quickly. She wanted her to scream.

“He deserved to die,” Xian’er said flatly. She had felt a momentary regret for being impulsive earlier, but looking at the sister, she realized the brother would have been a plague on the world regardless.

“You’re courting death!” The Princess’s face twisted.

“You’ve chased me for days. I’m standing right here,” Xian’er said, her voice dripping with mockery. “Do you actually have the guts to kill me?”

“I know your name. I know your Master. But I am the Seventh Princess of the Sea King Palace. Who can stop me?”

“If you touch me,” Gu Xian’er said, her voice growing unnervingly steady as she pulled out her greatest bluff, “my brother, Gu Changge, will hunt you to the ends of the universe. You will die a thousand times more miserably than I ever could.”

She watched the Princess’s expression. It felt good to hide behind Changge’s terrifying shadow for once.

“Gu Changge? You think I don’t know you have a blood feud with him?” The Princess laughed derisively. “You think he cares if you live? I’d love to see this ‘True Immortal’ of yours. I wonder if he bleeds like everyone else.”

Gu Xian’er let out a short, sharp laugh. “You’re an outsider. You know nothing of our bond. If you dare lay a finger on me, my ‘dear’ brother will turn the Endless Sea into a graveyard. He’s only being held up by a minor matter—otherwise, he’d already be here to tear your tongue out.”

Internally, Xian’er was giving herself a standing ovation for her own wit. If she was going down, she was taking Gu Changge’s reputation with her.
