Chapter 101: This Luck Is Too Good; Feeling Sour Inside
RUMBLE!
The sky above Blackstone Ancient City darkened as several terrifying figures descended. They radiated the crushing pressure of the Sage Realm, their auras vast and suffocating like a collapsing ocean.
“What is happening?”
“Sages! There are Sages here! And so many of them!”
The cultivators in the city looked up in horror, their souls trembling under the immense pressure.
In the distance, a massive estate collapsed into dust. From the ruins, a hazy mist erupted, transforming into a dragon of flowing light interwoven with ancient runes. It surged toward Ye Ling with the intent to obliterate him.
Ye Ling’s eyes bulged, blood vessels bursting in his fury.
“We have no grievances and no enmity! Why are you plotting against me?!”
His heart pounded with a mix of shock and rage.
From the dust, a stunningly beautiful woman walked out slowly. Her eyes were deep and cold, looking down at him as if he were an insect unworthy of life.
“You carry something that does not belong to you,” Yue Mingkong said indifferently. “Naturally, you deserve to die.”
She wasted no more words. With a wave of her jade hand, the four Sages hovering in the sky attacked in unison.
To deal with this mere Conferred Lord cultivator, Yue Mingkong had mobilized the strongest forces currently at her disposal. Four Sages. It was overkill, but she knew the terrifying luck of a Son of Providence.
Even a lion uses its full strength to catch a rabbit.
Simultaneously, she acted herself.
She waved her sleeve, summoning a gale that tore through the air. A flawless, jade-like palm manifested in the void, carrying an Emperor-level pressure that made the soul quake. Alongside it, she unleashed a crystal-clear jade sword. Torrential sword qi surged from the blade, transforming into a galaxy of destruction—a full-force strike comparable to a Great Sage!
Four Sages in the air. A regressor Empress on the ground.
It was a perfect, inescapable kill zone.
Any other Young Supreme would have perished instantly. There was no path to survival. Yue Mingkong was certain of his death.
“Brat! Now! Use that thing now or we’re dead!”
Inside the pendant, the Old Turtle screamed in terror. He couldn’t understand why a Princess of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty would lay such a monstrous trap for a nobody like Ye Ling.
Who leaked the secret?
Ye Ling’s face was deathly pale. He stared at Yue Mingkong with venomous hatred, his earlier admiration replaced by a vow of eternal vengeance.
“If I survive today, I will make you pay a hundredfold!”
BOOM!
With a look of extreme heartache, Ye Ling pulled a pitch-black jade talisman from his storage ring.
Hum!
A terrifying ripple expanded from the talisman. The aura of Reincarnation interwoven with the power of a Great Sage erupted!
The cultivators in the city fell to their knees, crushed by the sudden escalation of pressure. A Great Sage! An existence that could be called an Ancestor in ancient families!
“What?!”
Yue Mingkong’s expression finally cracked.
“Retreat!”
She hadn’t expected this. In her past life, Ye Ling had never possessed a Great Sage-level offensive talisman. Even she, the Crown Princess, only had defensive items of that tier.
Wait… in my past life, everyone who saw his trump cards died.
Her face darkened. “Damn it. As expected of someone who escaped my husband’s grasp.”
The four Sages in the sky recoiled, daring not to face the brunt of the attack.
Seizing the chaotic moment, Ye Ling vanished into the void, carried away by the talisman’s power.
“Next time… it will be even harder to kill him.”
Yue Mingkong clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. She felt a deep sense of failure. A regressor, armed with foreknowledge and overwhelming force, had failed to crush a single ant.
HUM!
Suddenly, a wave of terrifying heat descended.
A sea of fire, formed from divine runes, swept across the battlefield. The residual power of Ye Ling’s talisman was instantly swallowed and erased by the flames.
From the void, a woman in a red dress stepped out. She was peerlessly beautiful, her aura blazing like a sun.
“Who are you?”
Yue Mingkong frowned, her guard instantly going up.
A Great Sage? Here?
She put the matter of Ye Ling’s escape aside. The appearance of this mysterious powerhouse was far more concerning. She had never seen this woman in her past life or this one.
“I am the Young Master’s servant,” the woman said, bowing slightly. “Greetings, Princess Mingkong.”
It was Yan Ji.
Following Gu Changge’s orders, she had been scouring the ancient cities of Immeasurable Heaven for Yue Mingkong’s trail. She arrived just in time to witness the ambush and stepped in to block the fallout.
“Young Master?” Yue Mingkong asked, her voice cold. “Which Young Master?”
Her first thought was some annoying suitor she had forgotten about.
Yan Ji blinked, confused. Was the rumored astute Empress playing dumb?
“Naturally, it is Young Master Gu. Gu Changge. Who else would be concerned with your whereabouts?”
“Impossible,” Yue Mingkong denied instantly, shaking her head. “He… there is no woman beside him but me.”
Her denial was instinctive, fueled by the memories of her past life. Gu Changge was a monster, a solitary predator. He didn’t keep women around him—he used them and discarded them. Even she had been killed by him in the end.
How could he have a Great Sage beauty as a subordinate?
“I was a remnant soul from the Lower Realm,” Yan Ji explained patiently. “Young Master Gu saved me and helped me reconstruct my body…”
She briefly recounted her story.
As she listened, the suspicion in Yue Mingkong’s eyes faded, replaced by shock… and then a bitter, sour jealousy.
Gu Changge saved someone?
He didn’t devour her spirit? He helped her rebuild her body?
Why?
Yue Mingkong’s mind raced. She looked at Yan Ji—at her flawless face, her powerful cultivation, her exotic non-human allure.
Is he interested in her?
A wave of grievance washed over her. In her past life, she was the only one. Now, there was this… fire spirit. Was she not beautiful enough? Not strong enough? Why did he treat this subordinate with such kindness while treating her with cold indifference?
Yan Ji, unaware of the Empress’s internal turmoil, delivered the rest of the message.
“Princess Mingkong, the Young Master instructed me to tell you: ‘If you do not come to see him, he will personally come to catch you.'”
“I know,” Yue Mingkong replied, her voice sounding defeated.
She felt a profound sense of powerlessness.
She had just arrived in Immeasurable Heaven, yet Gu Changge had already found her. He sent a Great Sage to “invite” her. Could she even refuse?
As a regressor, she should be holding all the cards. But every time Gu Changge was involved, her advantages evaporated.
Can I truly change anything?
Or am I just destined to watch the tragedy repeat itself?
She clenched her hands. Her rebirth felt meaningless in the face of his overwhelming control. But remembering the incident at the Gu Family, confusion warred with her despair.
His actions are different… but his nature is the same.
Finally, she sighed. She had avoided him for days, but there was no running anymore.
She looked at Yan Ji again, and the sour feeling in her chest intensified.
Fine. I will go.
