Chapter 110: Gu Xianer, Are You Getting Cocky, Or Do You Think Your Brother Can’t Lift His Blade?
Gu Changge had barely arrived at Supreme Peak, yet he was already trying to kick people out?
Hearing this, veins throbbed on the Grand Elder’s forehead.
Above the peak, the sky darkened as if ten thousand miles of storm clouds were descending. A terrifying pressure crushed down, causing the disciples below to pale and their legs to turn to jelly. It was the wrath of heaven itself.
Gu Xianer and Yue Mingkong felt their hearts skip a beat. The Grand Elder’s cultivation was unfathomable; a mere shift in his mood could make stars tremble. Who dared provoke him like this?
Yet, Gu Changge stood unmoved, as if the suffocating pressure were a gentle breeze.
“Grand Elder,” he said with a faint smile, “are you trying to intimidate me? Or do you plan to use Mingkong and Xianer as hostages to threaten me?”
“If that is the case… I’m afraid you will be disappointed.”
“Gu Changge… you…”
The Grand Elder felt a vein pop. He had never wanted to slap someone to death so badly in his long life. He had to forcibly suppress the urge to obliterate the boy where he stood.
“Master,” Gu Xianer interjected hurriedly, fearing the old man might actually explode from rage.
She glared at Gu Changge. He was truly a fountain of bad water. With just a few words, he had driven the revered Grand Elder to the brink of madness, yet he acted completely indifferent.
“Gu Changge, shut up!” she shouted, her small face icy. Killing intent radiated from her as she summoned a jade sword, runes swirling around the blade. “Master is here to discuss important matters!”
Yue Mingkong wanted to advise caution, but seeing Gu Changge’s nonchalant face, she gave up. He wouldn’t listen. And truthfully, the Grand Elder wouldn’t dare kill the heir of the Immortal Gu Family.
“So this is where you get the confidence to shout at me?” Gu Changge scoffed, ignoring the Elder’s wrath to look at his cousin. “You broke into the Conferred Lord Realm? And now you think you can take revenge on your brother?”
“Gu Changge…”
Gu Xianer’s brow furrowed. She couldn’t stand his dismissive attitude.
She was a Conferred Lord now! Yet he still looked at her like she was a bug. And what happened to his guilt? His desire to make amends? Why had his face changed so quickly?
“Xianer has broken through,” the Grand Elder said, forcing himself to calm down. “With her current strength, she might stand a chance against you. I promised to train her to defeat you. If I failed, I would personally appoint you as Successor. Do you remember?”
“I remember,” Gu Changge replied lazily. “But do you really think this girl has a chance of winning? Just because she broke through? Or does the Grand Elder expect me to throw the match?”
His disdain was palpable.
The Grand Elder froze. Gu Xianer gripped her sword tighter, resisting the urge to stab his smug face.
“Furthermore,” Gu Changge continued, “Grand Elder seems to place too much importance on the Successor position. You act as if I desperately want it. Even if you offer it to me now… who says I will accept?”
The three of them stared at him. This was the definition of getting a bargain and still acting innocent.
“You want to raise the price?” the Grand Elder’s eyes darkened, resembling a deep, stormy sea.
“Don’t put it so harshly,” Gu Changge shook his head. “It is a matter of mutual consent. How can you call it raising the price?”
The Grand Elder almost laughed out of sheer anger. “Mutual consent? Gu Changge, you have truly broadened my horizons.”
“You flatter me.”
“Speak. What do you want?”
The Grand Elder gave up on the idea of a fair duel. Gu Changge clearly had no intention of suppressing his cultivation to fight Gu Xianer. And asking him to do so would be futile.
Gu Changge nodded, finally showing a satisfied smile.
“Simple. I want the position of Successor—specifically, the status of the designated future Palace Master. And in addition… I want one personal favor from the Grand Elder.”
“This favor can be anything within your power, and you cannot refuse. Don’t worry, it won’t be anything that violates your principles.”
The Grand Elder’s face fell. Gu Changge had clearly prepared this trap long ago.
The young man was terrifying not because of his cultivation, but because of his meticulous calculation. He held every card.
“Fine. I agree.”
The Grand Elder didn’t hesitate. He had no other choice. Besides, the Successor position was just a title. “Flowing Palace Masters, Iron-Clad Grand Elder”—as long as he lived, he held the true power.
“Grand Elder is straightforward,” Gu Changge smiled. “However… please swear a Dao Oath.”
“You doubt my word?!”
The veins on the Grand Elder’s forehead throbbed again. His reputation was spotless across the Upper Realm. To be asked for an oath by a junior was a humiliation.
“If I didn’t doubt you, why would I ask for an oath?” Gu Changge looked at him like he was an idiot.
“You…!”
“Gu Changge!” Gu Xianer shouted, stepping forward as the Elder looked ready to strike.
“I swear by my Dao Heart!” the Grand Elder roared, his voice shaking the heavens. “If I violate my word today, may Chaos Lightning strike me dead, my soul shatter, and my true spirit be annihilated from reincarnation!”
With that, he spun around and vanished into the void, fleeing before he lost control and murdered the boy.
Gu Changge watched him leave, his smile vanishing instantly. He turned his gaze to the two women.
Yue Mingkong knew that look. It meant trouble. Without thinking, she stepped in front of Gu Xianer.
“Oh? Blocking for her?” Gu Changge’s eyes were deep and unreadable. “You are quite the good sister-in-law, Mingkong.”
Yue Mingkong felt a chill down her spine. She remembered his ruthlessness from her past life. Anyone who stood in his way was destroyed.
“Sister Mingkong, you don’t need to protect me,” Gu Xianer said, stepping out from behind her.
Her face was frosted over, her eyes burning with determination.
“Gu Changge. Today, let’s settle our grievances.”
She couldn’t take it anymore. His contempt, his shifting attitude, his arrogance—it all boiled over. She was a Conferred Lord now. She had fought across realms her whole life. She wouldn’t let him look down on her any longer.
“Settle our grievances?” Gu Changge laughed, his expression turning cold. “Gu Xianer… do you really think you have a chance?”
“Gu Changge…” Yue Mingkong frowned, not knowing how to stop this. She knew he wouldn’t kill Xianer, but he would certainly make her suffer.
Swoosh!
Gu Xianer attacked.
A sword light erupted, brilliant as a galaxy, cascading down from the heavens with the force of a collapsing star. It was a supreme sword art, far surpassing the power of a normal Conferred Lord.
She didn’t hold back.
CLANG!
Sparks flew.
Gu Xianer’s pupils shrank.
Gu Changge hadn’t moved. He had simply raised a hand. His palm, wreathed in divine light, acted like a celestial millstone, effortlessly grinding the sword energy to dust.
Then, with a simple, almost lazy motion, he extended two fingers and clamped onto her jade sword.
Hum!
The blade froze. It felt as if it were pinned by a hundred thousand mountains. Gu Xianer pulled with all her strength—strength that could crush ancient beasts—but the sword didn’t budge a millimeter.
“How…”
Buzz!
Immortal light erupted from her body. Her Dao Bone awakened, chanting the sounds of the Great Dao, trying to empower the sword.
“Break!” she shouted.
CRACK!
The jade sword shattered.
Gu Changge shook his head, his expression bored.
“What a foolish little sister.”
His fingers curled into a palm.
BOOM!
He pressed down. It felt like the universe was collapsing.
Gu Xianer’s face paled. Her awakening Dao Bone was instantly suppressed, its light extinguished.
With a dull thud, she was forced to the ground, pinned by an invisible hand.
The gap was too wide. Talent could not bridge this chasm.
Gu Changge walked over and crouched down in front of her. He looked at her defiant, humiliated face and reached out to pinch her nose.
“Just broke through to Conferred Lord and you want to kill me?”
He smirked.
“Gu Xianer, are you getting cocky? Or do you think your brother can’t lift his blade anymore?”
