Chapter 143: The Wedding Dress is a Success; Putting on the Biggest Show to Take the Brutalest Beating

In the ruins outside the Black Sky Eagle Clan’s territory, Gu Changge sat amidst a pile of rubble, refining the essence of a Saint Realm corpse. His ears twitched as the sound of approaching footsteps broke the silence.

Buzz!

With a single step, he vanished and reappeared before a small group of young indigenous cultivators. Before they could react, a massive palm manifested in the sky and slammed down, pinning them to the earth.

“Spare… spare us!”

They shrieked in terror, one of them nearly losing control of his bladder. Gu Changge didn’t waste a breath on pleasantries. He reached out and performed a cold, efficient Soul Searching.

Within moments, he had the information he sought. He had been “off the grid” for a while, focusing on his cultivation, and was out of the loop regarding recent gossip.

“The Dragon Clan heir, Long Teng, wants to challenge me?” Gu Changge arched an eyebrow, genuinely bewildered. He’d never even met the man. Why was some lizard suddenly boasting about suppressing him and stealing “everything” he owned?

His first instinct was that he’d encountered a mental patient. But after cross-referencing the native legends of Long Teng with recent movements, the truth became clear.

I’ve been set up by Yue Mingkong.

First Gu Xianer, now Mingkong. Gu Changge wondered if he was being too lenient with his women; they seemed to have developed a hobby of directing tidal waves of aggro toward him.

“This Long Teng truly has a screw loose,” Changge sneered. “Even a ‘Dragon Aotian’ isn’t usually this delusional. A ‘True Dragon’ aptitude? He’s not coming to fight; he’s coming to deliver a True Dragon Origin to my doorstep. How thoughtful.”

He knew exactly what Long Teng wanted: Yue Mingkong. Her beauty and stature were undeniable; she was a woman any man with a shred of ambition—and a pulse—would covet. A stallion-template protagonist like Long Teng was naturally no exception.

Gu Changge wasn’t a superficial man, but he was a connoisseur of aesthetics. If Mingkong were a plain woman, he wouldn’t have tolerated her recent “prank.” He would have drained her utility and discarded her. But he liked her, and he’d been patient. Yet here she was, playing him for a fool.

“Forget it,” he laughed, his eyes glinting with a dark mirth. “Considering she’s been a good girl lately, I’ll let it slide. But Long Teng… if you want to die, who am I to stop you?”

He had spent his life coveting the possessions of others. To have someone attempt to do the same to him was almost refreshing in its audacity.

He closed his eyes briefly, connecting to the Bridal Gown Immortal Art. He focused on Hei Ming’s perspective, checking the boy’s progress. If there was time, he’d squash the draconic eyesore before finishing his business with the Black Sky Eagle Clan.

The Black Sky Eagle Clan Territory

Hei Ming stood in his dim courtyard, his black wings shimmering with a metallic, obsidian light. He had been practicing the art for days, and the results were intoxicating.

“I’ve only planted the ‘Wedding Dress’ on three followers, and my cultivation speed has already tripled,” he whispered, his eyes glowing with a fanatical zeal. “This technique is heaven-defying! I will surpass everyone. I will be the one who looks down on the world!”

The “Bridal Gown” portion of the art allowed him to siphon the talent and progress of anyone who practiced it. He had already broken through a minor realm. Soon, the Great Power Realm, the Conferred King Realm—all of it would be within his grasp. He was going to eclipse his sister and become the clan’s true star.

Knock, knock, knock.

Hei Ming quickly retracted his aura and opened the gate.

“Sister, you’re here.”

Standing there was Hei Yanyu, the clan’s brightest jewel. Though she was his sister, she looked barely eighteen, her ethereal beauty framed by a Jade Thread Robe and a Nine Phoenix Hairpin. She was a Void God Realm prodigy who possessed a pure ancestral bloodline.

“Hei Ming, what is so urgent?” she asked softly. She felt a basic sibling duty toward him—protecting him from bullies—but she had long ago given up on his cultivation. To her, he was just a harmless, mediocre “prodigal” she had to look after.

“Come inside,” Hei Ming said, his face grave. He made sure no one was following her before closing the gate. He planned to give her the greatest “gift” of her life—and in doing so, ensure his own rise.

“Did you cause trouble again?” Yanyu sighed, stepping into the courtyard.

“No, Sister. I found something… incredible.” Hei Ming produced a handwritten copy of the “Bridal Gown” portion of the art. He claimed he’d stumbled upon it at a market stall.

“An ancient technique?” Yanyu frowned, unimpressed. But as her gaze lingered on the text, her boredom vanished. Her eyes widened, her breathing becoming shallow as she realized the profound Daoist truths woven into the script.

“Such depth… you found this at a stall?” She was shaken. This wasn’t just a technique; it was a path to the Divine. “Hei Ming, your luck is truly unbelievable.”

“Take it, Sister. Memorize it. If it helps you, give it to Father and the Grandfather. I’m just a waste; this is useless in my hands. But if the clan gets stronger, I can live even better as a pampered nobleman!” Hei Ming spoke with a self-deprecating smile that hid his predatory intent.

Hei Yanyu was deeply moved. “You truly care for the family, Hei Ming. After all the mockery you’ve endured… I will make sure the elders know of your contribution.”

“As long as you’re happy, I’m happy,” Hei Ming replied.

After she left, Hei Ming collapsed against the wall, a manic, ecstatic grin splitting his face. Every elder who practiced that art would become his “Wedding Dress.” Every bit of their strength would eventually flow to him.

“All of this is thanks to the Supreme Existence!” he whispered in awe.

Ten thousand miles away, Gu Changge watched the scene through Hei Ming’s silver-threaded pupils.

“Not a bad actor,” Changge mused, thoroughly satisfied. “Sometimes the ‘waste’ archetype really is useful. Hei Ming’s ambition is exactly what I need.”

The trap was perfect. The “Bridal Gown” was a beautiful bait, filled with genuine Daoist mysteries that would entice any cultivator. But it was also a tether. With a single thought, Changge could sever the connection, ending the life of anyone caught in the web.

When the leadership of the Black Sky Eagle Clan is fully ensnared, Changge thought, that will be my moment to step onto the stage.

Meanwhile, the news of Long Teng’s departure had sent the continent into a frenzy. To the indigenous clans, he was a living legend—the strongest of their generation. Even the Ten Great Young Masters of the continent feared him.

“Lord Long Teng will suppress the outsider, Gu Changge!” the rumors screamed. “He will take everything!”

To the visiting geniuses from the Upper Realm, however, this was the funniest news they’d heard in decades.

“Long Teng? What kind of brain-dead idiot is he?” a young prodigy laughed. “He wants to fight the ‘Young Taboo’? He’s going to get slapped so hard his mother won’t recognize him.”

“I can’t wait,” another added, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. “Finally, we get to see the ‘Biggest Show’ take the ‘Brutallest Beating.’ Long Teng has no idea what he’s walking into.”

To the outsiders, Gu Changge was a force of nature. He had just erased the Seventh Princess of the Sea King Palace like she was a common fly. No one dared challenge him. To them, Long Teng was just a provincial thug who had spent too long in a time capsule.

Ye Langtian, having just plucked a rare spirit flower, shook his head. “Gu Changge is a mystery. Long Teng is just a talented kid. I’d pay to see their clash, if only to see how much of Changge’s real power can be forced out.”

At an emerald lake, Yue Mingkong stood amidst a field of defeated rivals, her fingers clutching a clutch of Immortal Spirit Fruits. She exuded the aura of a peerless Empress, her sheer presence forcing everyone back.

She had heard the news of Long Teng’s threats. She wasn’t surprised; she had been the one to goad the Dragon Girl into reporting back to her Lord. It was a minor annoyance for Gu Changge, a little payback for all his teasing.

Long Teng is dead the moment he sees Changge, she thought. He’s arrogant, self-obsessed, and entirely out of his league.

She didn’t know where Changge was—he was far too smart to be tracked easily—but she knew the outcome was set. Now, she just needed to stay out of his way for a bit. She knew his temper; when he found out she’d “calculated” him into a spotlight he didn’t want, he’d definitely have a “reward” waiting for her.

“I’ll just hide in seclusion for a while,” she decided, a rare blush of “guilt” touching her cheeks. “Let him deal with the dragon first.”
