Chapter 117: Just a Small Trick; Brother Bai, Won’t You Have a Drink?

In a secluded, elegant courtyard, Gu Changge stood by the window, his hands clasped behind his back. A faint, knowing smile played on his lips.

Ding!

[Random Providence Task Complete: Destroy Son of Providence Relationship Line] [Settlement Evaluation: Perfect] [Reward: 1,000 Luck Points, 5,000 Destiny Points] [Additional Bonus (40%): +400 Luck Points, +2,000 Destiny Points] [Total: 1,400 Luck Points, 7,000 Destiny Points]

The system notification rang sweetly in his mind.

Bai Lie and Ye Ling’s brotherhood was shattered.

“So much for deep brotherly bonds,” Gu Changge chuckled, his expression amused. “They couldn’t even withstand a little temptation of beauty.”

Brothers are like limbs, women are like clothes. It was easy to say until someone tried to wear your clothes.

He had barely lifted a finger. He simply exploited Ye Ling’s lust and Bai Lie’s foolish infatuation, using Yin Mei as a wedge to split them apart.

“Now… it is time to harvest the final heat from Bai Lie.”

He turned to the woman waiting in the courtyard.

“I am going out for a while. Wait here for me.”

Gu Changge smiled at Yue Mingkong. Under the moonlight, his white robes glowed with transcendent grace.

Before she could reply, he leaped onto the courtyard wall and vanished into the night like a ghost.

“Gu Changge! Where are you going?”

Yue Mingkong rushed to the wall, frowning.

She had been following him relentlessly since they left the Daootian Immortal Palace, determined to uncover his secrets. But now he had ditched her.

“Is he going to kill Ye Ling?” she muttered, grinding her teeth. “That greedy bastard. He’s going to eat the whole feast alone and not even leave me the soup.”

She wanted to follow, but she knew it was futile. If Gu Changge wanted to disappear, no one could track him.

However, a thought struck her.

Wait. Ye Ling has many trump cards. If Gu Changge tries to kill him now, he might fail or be forced to expose his Demonic Art.

He won’t kill Ye Ling yet.

Yue Mingkong’s eyes narrowed as she deduced his plan.

He’s going to frame him. He’ll make Ye Ling the scapegoat for the Forbidden Demonic Art, turning him into a public enemy. That way, he can cultivate openly while Ye Ling takes the heat.

“Playing the entire world in the palm of his hand…” She sighed, feeling a chill. “The more I know, the more dangerous my position becomes.”

Ye Ling’s Mansion.

Ye Ling hummed a tune as he returned home, chatting with the soul in his pendant.

“Old Turtle, don’t you think Big Brother Bai Lie is too petty? I just chatted with Yin Mei a little. You should have seen his face—gloomy as a thundercloud.”

“You brat,” the Old Turtle scolded. “Your lust rivals the Heavenly Venerate himself. He’s your sworn brother! Can’t you show some respect? Stealing the host’s spotlight… if you don’t rein it in, women will be the death of you.”

“Like last time?”

Ye Ling’s face darkened. The ambush by Yue Mingkong was a humiliation he wouldn’t forget. He had wasted a precious life-saving talisman to escape.

“I’ll make that woman pay sooner or later,” he sneered. “And that Gu Changge… he’s just a rich young master relying on his background. I fought my way up from nothing. When it comes to life-and-death combat, I have ways to kill him.”

“Hmm?”

Suddenly, Ye Ling froze.

The night went silent. The wind stopped.

A terrifying pressure descended on the mansion, heavy as a collapsing star.

“Who is it?!”

Ye Ling stared into the courtyard.

Under the moonlight, a tall figure in white stood there. His face was shrouded in mist, obscured by swirling runes, but his eyes… deep, indifferent, and predatory… were locked onto Ye Ling.

It was the gaze of a hunter looking at prey.

Ye Ling’s blood ran cold. When did he get there? I didn’t sense him at all!

He summoned pitch-black runes into his palm, ready to strike. This person was terrifying—not just in cultivation, but in sheer presence.

But the figure didn’t attack.

He chuckled softly.

“Heh… We will meet again, little ant.”

The figure dissolved into nothingness.

“Not good!” Ye Ling screamed.

HUM!

Space tore open. A black-robed old man—Elder Ming—stepped out of the void, a pitch-black weapon slashing down with the force to sever the heavens.

“A God King?!”

Ye Ling was horrified. Why was a God King assassinating him?

He didn’t hesitate. He activated his strongest escape art and fled into the night, burning his blood essence to boost his speed.

“Run!” the Old Turtle shouted. “He’s holding back, but don’t push your luck!”

Ye Ling fled in panic, confused why the assassin wasn’t using his full power.

Behind him, Elder Ming frowned.

“Young Master’s orders are strange. ‘Chase him, but don’t push him too hard.’ Why let him live?”

He sensed the terrifying power hidden in Ye Ling’s black runes—a power capable of threatening even him. He kept his distance, herding the prey as instructed.

Remote Courtyard.

While his followers hunted Ye Ling, Bai Lie arrived at the address Yin Mei had given him.

It was a quiet, secluded estate guarded by two white jade lions.

“Yin Mei must be waiting anxiously,” Bai Lie smiled, pushing open the gate.

He walked through the winding corridors until he saw the soft glow of candlelight deep within the garden.

By a stone table, a graceful figure in red sat waiting. She held her fluffy white tails in her lap, her face illuminated by the moon. A pot of wine warmed on the table, filling the air with a fragrant aroma.

“She even warmed the wine for me,” Bai Lie thought, his heart swelling with affection.

“Yin Mei! I’m here!”

He strode into the courtyard, his blood rushing with excitement.

Yin Mei looked up. Her expression was strange—not happy, not shy, but… mocking?

“It seems Master was right,” she said, her smile not reaching her eyes. “You really came.”

Bai Lie froze.

“Master? What master?”

He laughed nervously. “Yin Mei, what are you talking about? Aren’t you waiting for me?”

“Master will be here soon,” she said flatly, dropping the act. Her gentleness vanished, replaced by cold indifference. “You will see him shortly.”

“What?!”

Bai Lie stood there, thunderstruck. The woman in front of him felt like a stranger.

“Brother Bai, you heard correctly.”

A calm voice drifted from the shadows.

“Yin Mei was naturally waiting for you.”

Bai Lie spun around.

A figure in white stepped into the moonlight, handsome and ethereal.

“Master!”

Yin Mei stood up immediately, bowing with deep respect and adoration.

Gu Changge nodded to her, then walked to the stone table. He picked up the cup of wine she had prepared.

“Hmm. Not bad. Just the right temperature.”

He drank it in one gulp. “Your skills are improving.”

“Thank you for the praise, Master,” Yin Mei beamed, her smile sweeter than Bai Lie had ever seen.

Gu Changge turned his gaze to the petrified White Tiger Prince.

“Brother Bai,” he smiled, lifting the empty cup. “Why are you just standing there? Won’t you have a drink?”
