Chapter 114: This Pot is Definitely Pinned on Him; A Belly Full of Bad Water
“Brother Ye, how much do you know about this matter?”
Gu Changge spoke lightly, as if discussing the weather. He raised his white jade cup and downed the wine in one smooth motion, a satisfied sigh escaping his lips. “This wine is excellent.”
Yue Mingkong froze.
She stared at his handsome, flawless face, but all she felt was a bone-deep chill crawling up her spine.
Others might be clueless, but she knew the truth.
Gu Changge was the real successor of the Forbidden Demonic Art.
In her past life, he had framed countless innocents like this. Every time, she had foolishly believed him, never suspecting the monster sleeping beside her. But now, witnessing his manipulation firsthand, she felt her palms grow cold with sweat.
With a few casual words over drinks, he had thrown a calamity onto Ye Ling’s head.
Although she also wanted Ye Ling dead to seize his opportunities, compared to Gu Changge… she was an amateur. Her schemes were child’s play. His terror wasn’t just in his strength; it was in every word, every smile, every calculated breath.
I must never let him know that I know his secret, she thought, panic tightening her chest. If he finds out I know about the Immortal Devouring Demonic Art, I will die without a grave.
Her advantage as a regressor was meaningless before him.
“This wine is good. Mingkong, have a taste.”
Suddenly, a cup appeared in front of her. Gu Changge was smiling at her, his eyes warm.
“Why do you look so pale? Your hands are cold. Are you unwell?”
Normally, his concern would have made her heart flutter. Now, it made her want to run.
“I’m fine, Changge,” she whispered, shaking her head and forcing her expression to normalize.
“Good,” Gu Changge nodded, his smile not reaching his eyes.
He knew she had guessed his plan.
Framing someone? That was his bread and butter. He felt zero guilt. It was just… convenient.
Yue Mingkong was a capable woman, ruthless when forced by circumstances. But he? He was born to be the Villain Boss. His mind was a labyrinth of conspiracies.
Recently, his servant Yin Mei had been gathering “resources”—geniuses with special bloodlines—for him to devour. But she had been a little careless, leaving traces that caused panic among the major sects. Gu Changge had been wondering how to cover it up.
And then Ye Langtian walked in, talking about Ye Ling.
A scapegoat delivered to my door.
Ye Langtian, unaware he was being played, laughed. “Brother Gu and Princess Mingkong’s relationship is truly enviable.”
Yue Mingkong managed a polite smile. She wondered if she was being too paranoid. Lately, Gu Changge had treated her well. Just now, feeling her cold hands, he had gently warmed them in his own.
Does he suspect me? Or is he just… being attentive?
Ye Langtian continued, his face grave. “This matter has caused panic among many forces. Many talented geniuses have vanished. Their cultivation wasn’t high, so no one noticed at first. But now… the numbers are terrifying. And worse, ancient tombs have been dug up, the corpses missing.”
As the Ye Clan’s successor, he had access to deep intel.
“A few days ago, a Grand Elder’s grandson disappeared. He had no enemies. Just… gone. Like a stone in the sea.”
“But the Elder found clues. A hidden force is hunting geniuses with special talents. It started in the Inner Domain and is spreading.”
Gu Changge nodded solemnly. “It seems my information aligns with Brother Ye’s.”
He leaned forward, his eyes locking onto Ye Langtian.
“Brother Ye, do you think this might be related to a certain… Forbidden Inheritance? One that was supposedly destroyed by the orthodoxy long ago?”
Ye Langtian’s eyes widened. A sharp light flashed in his pupils.
He had suspected it but hadn’t dared to voice it. Those words—Forbidden Inheritance—were taboo. They represented a horror that once nearly destroyed the Upper Realm.
“Brother Gu means…”
“If I’m not mistaken,” Gu Changge said calmly, “the Forbidden Inheritance has resurfaced. Like wildfire, it cannot be fully extinguished. When the spring wind blows, it grows again.”
Yue Mingkong felt like he was mocking the world. The master of the inheritance is sitting right here, telling you it’s back.
“Brother Gu thinks exactly like me,” Ye Langtian sighed, feeling a sense of camaraderie. He felt he had found a confidant.
He had no idea Gu Changge was using his mouth to spread the rumor. Who would suspect the whistleblower?
“If that is true,” Gu Changge mused, rubbing his chin, “then the timing is too coincidental.”
“Brother Gu, do you think… Ye Ling’s sudden rise is connected?” Ye Langtian asked directly.
“I’ve investigated him,” Ye Langtian continued, frowning. “No background. No resources. Ignored by his branch family. Yet his cultivation skyrocketed, surpassing his peers. His techniques are bizarre, able to neutralize my divine abilities… It doesn’t make sense.”
“Indeed,” Gu Changge nodded gravely. “It is suspicious. Brother Ye should be careful.”
Inside, Gu Changge was laughing. Perfect.
Ye Langtian had connected the dots exactly as he wanted. Now, Ye Ling wasn’t just an annoying rival; he was a potential demonic inheritor.
“Brother Gu, this is a grave matter. I must report to my clan immediately,” Ye Langtian stood up, his face serious. “We will meet again when the Ancient Immortal Continent opens.”
“Safe travels, Brother Ye.”
After Ye Langtian and his sister left, the pavilion fell silent.
Gu Changge looked out the window, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Yue Mingkong stared at him. “Your methods… are terrifying.”
“Nothing terrifying about it,” Gu Changge chuckled, squeezing her hand again. “Ye Ling will die sooner or later. I’m just making it easier. Besides, isn’t your husband helping you kill him?”
Yue Mingkong snorted. “Helping me? You just want his inheritance for yourself.”
“You know me too well,” he grinned. “A belly full of bad water, right?”
“Don’t expect me to trust a single word you say,” she muttered, pulling her hand away. But she didn’t leave.
Remote Ancient City, East of Daootian.
“Brother Bai Lie! Thank you for the resources you’ve provided all this time. I wouldn’t be here without you!”
In a high pavilion, a young man in black clothes toasted a burly man sitting opposite him. A pendant hung from the young man’s neck.
It was Ye Ling.
Bai Lie, the White Tiger Prince, laughed heartily, downing his wine. “Hahaha! Brother Ye Ling, you’re too polite! Between brothers, why mention such things?”
Suddenly, Bai Lie’s expression brightened. He pulled a communication talisman from his robe; it was glowing warm.
“Oh! It’s Yin Mei!”
Ye Ling grinned teasingly. “Sister-in-law contacting Big Brother? Hurry up and see what she says!”
The term “Sister-in-law” made Bai Lie beam with happiness. He checked the message.
“Hehe! Yin Mei says she has business outside the sect and has time to meet me today!”
He stood up, eager. “Brothers, drink up! I have a date!”
Ye Ling watched him go, smiling. He had no idea his “Big Brother” was walking straight into the jaws of the real predator.
