Chapter 159: This Guy Is Simply Not Human, Daring to Scheme Against an Ancient Heavenly Sovereign
Gu Changge’s gaze flickered with genuine amusement.
Even now, after being completely abandoned by Chi Ling and stripped of his allies, Ye Ling still possessed over five thousand Luck Points.
Honestly, Gu Changge was a little surprised. The boy was like a cockroach that refused to die.
However, Gu Changge had already successfully utilized a Luck Plundering Card during his execution of Long Teng. He planned to recycle that exact same strategy here.
While he possessed dozens of methods to psychologically torture Ye Ling and bleed his Luck Points dry over the coming months, there was simply no need. That would be a waste of time.
“System Prompt: Killing the Son of Providence, Ye Ling, will yield 3,000 Luck Points and 15,000 Destiny Points. Additional drops will be calculated post-mortem.”
Gu Changge casually reviewed the system interface.
Beyond the massive influx of points, the true prize was seizing the legacy of the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign. He was already mentally cataloging the loot he would acquire once Ye Ling’s head rolled.
Escape was not an option. He would not allow Ye Ling to leave this cavern alive.
“Gu Changge! You have pushed me too far!” Ye Ling roared, his voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated fury. “I’ll drag you to hell with me!”
Hearing Gu Changge casually announce his intention to frame him for every atrocity committed in the tomb had temporarily stunned Ye Ling. But that shock rapidly morphed into a bone-deep, icy terror, followed instantly by boundless, suffocating hatred.
Even after he died, Gu Changge was going to use his corpse as a scapegoat?!
This man wasn’t just evil; he was a literal demon! Ye Ling felt that even if he hacked Gu Changge into a thousand pieces and ground his bones to dust, it wouldn’t be enough to quell the hatred boiling in his blood.
He won’t even let me die in peace!
“Ahhhhh!”
A terrifying, pitch-black divine light erupted from Ye Ling’s core. The darkness swirled and condensed, transforming into a massive, lifelike black dragon. Iron-hard scales gleamed with a cold luster, and ancient, divine runes pulsed along its serpentine body, giving it a horrifying semblance of true life.
Simultaneously, a brilliant, blinding white light tore out from his chest, taking the form of a majestic True Phoenix. It spread its wings wide and unleashed an ear-shattering screech!
Roar!
The black dragon reared its head and roared in tandem, the sound echoing like a tolling bell of doom, shaking the very foundations of the cavern!
This was the absolute pinnacle of Reincarnation power—the physical manifestation of Life and Death. The alternating, interwoven energies contained a catastrophic destructive force. Even a genuine Heavenly God Realm expert would be forced to retreat in the face of such an attack.
“Why do you people always recycle the same pathetic lines?” Gu Changge sighed, his expression perfectly serene. “What do you mean, ‘I’ve pushed you too far’? Do you honestly believe screaming that at me will make me show mercy?”
He stepped lightly into the air, floating above the ground. With a casual flick of his sleeve, he raised a single hand and pressed his palm downward.
Hum!
A colossal, shimmering palm print materialized in the cavern roof and crashed down.
Dense, primordial mist swirled around the descending palm, heavily laden with floating, ancient runes. It carried the weight of a billion mountains, descending like the wrathful hand of the Heavens itself. The void groaned and twisted under the pressure, visibly cracking.
The suffocating Pressure instantly crushed the breath out of Ye Ling’s lungs. His face drained of color.
This was no ordinary spell. This was an attack forged from an ocean of divine runes, demonstrating an impossibly deep mastery over the fundamental laws of heaven and earth.
But the most terrifying aspect… it contained the raw, absolute power of Rules!
Pfft!
It didn’t matter how potent the power of Reincarnation was; before the absolute suppression of a higher-tier Rule, it was nothing but glass.
The majestic True Phoenix and the terrifying black dragon let out a simultaneous, pitiful shriek as Gu Changge’s palm effortlessly crushed them into nothingness!
“We had no grievances! I never did anything to you! Why are you doing this to me?!” Ye Ling screamed, his voice breaking in sheer terror.
He desperately tried to dive out of the palm’s descending shadow, only to realize the surrounding space had been entirely locked down. The air felt as thick as wet mud; he couldn’t move an inch.
The icy grip of death clamped around his spine.
Boom!
At the absolute last second, Ye Ling reached into his robes and crushed a jade rune. Instantly, the overwhelming, suppressive Pressure of the Saint Realm erupted from his body! Chains of golden order and rules manifested, lashing outward to intercept Gu Changge’s descending palm.
“Boring,” Gu Changge muttered.
The amusement vanished from his face, leaving behind a mask of chilling apathy.
Hum!
An ocean of terrifying, pitch-black demonic energy exploded from his body. With a sharp whine of tearing space, the Eight Desolate Demon Halberd materialized in his grasp, looking like a peerless, primordial fiend finally slipping its leash.
The weapon pulsed in his hand, actively transmitting a sickening sense of bloodthirsty joy directly into his mind.
Gu Changge stared down at Ye Ling with dead eyes.
He swung the halberd.
A tidal wave of demonic light erupted. The terrifying halberd glare, wrapped in thick, inky chains of dark rules, cleaved downward. It looked less like a weapon strike and more like a cataclysm meant to sever the universe in half!
“That’s…!”
Inside the pendant, the ancient turtle spirit shrieked in absolute, pants-wetting terror. It recognized that peerless, cursed weapon. It never, in its wildest nightmares, imagined the halberd would end up in the hands of a monster like Gu Changge.
Pfft!
The Saint Realm barrier Ye Ling had just erected shattered like cheap glass. Ye Ling screamed in agony as the backlash violently annihilated the golden rune.
The residual pressure from the halberd strike slammed into him, crushing his skeleton. Clouds of blood mist burst from his pores as multiple bones snapped simultaneously.
“That power… it completely surpassed the ordinary Saint Realm…” the old turtle stammered, its voice trembling uncontrollably. “Ye Ling! Do not hesitate! Use the trump card! Use it now, or you will die here!”
The spirit’s voice was shrill with unprecedented panic.
Gu Changge wasn’t surprised that the strike hadn’t bisected Ye Ling. The boy was a Son of Providence, after all; his pockets were basically stuffed with plot armor and life-saving artifacts.
But it didn’t matter. Not even the Heavens themselves could stop Gu Changge from taking Ye Ling’s head today.
Swoosh!
“Let’s see how many of those you have,” Gu Changge sneered.
His demonic energy flared even higher, his eyes turning pitch black. The power radiating from him felt like a churning, abyssal ocean, potent enough to make the stars tremble.
He swung the halberd a second time. The void ripped open like wet paper.
“How is this possible…” Ye Ling choked, coughing up thick wads of blood.
He was paralyzed by absolute despair.
As the second halberd strike slammed into him, a hidden, seven-colored divine armor beneath his robes violently detonated. That armor was designed to block a full-powered strike from a Supreme Saint Realm expert!
The fact that it had shattered meant Gu Changge’s casual swing possessed the destructive force of a Supreme Saint!
Ye Ling felt his soul trying to flee his body. He lost all will to fight. Gu Changge was supposed to be a member of the younger generation! How could he wield power on this scale?!
Was this the true horror of the forbidden Immortal Devouring Demonic Art? It was unnatural. It was monstrous.
Ye Ling’s blood ran cold. He couldn’t process the reality of the situation.
But the old turtle’s frantic screaming pierced through his shock. Ye Ling didn’t want to die. He refused to die here!
“Master, save me!”
With a guttural, desperate roar, Ye Ling ignited his very lifeblood. He channeled every remaining drop of his essence into a golden, ancient rune clutched in his palm.
His soul burned with a blinding brilliance, practically becoming visible through his skull.
This was it. The absolute strongest life-saving measure left behind by the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign. Ye Ling hadn’t wanted to use it, but he had no choice. If he held back now, Gu Changge was going to chop him into mincemeat.
Hum!
The golden rune ignited with the heat of a dying star. A terrifying, ancient radiance erupted, carrying the distinct sensation of an impossibly powerful entity awakening from a long slumber.
The sheer force of the awakening caused the entire cavern system and the distant palaces to violently quake.
As the rune burned away, the void twisted and tore.
A terrifying, pitch-black divine light flooded the cavern, as if a dark sun had suddenly risen within the enclosed space.
From the center of the dark sun, a towering, blurred silhouette materialized, stepping across the river of time itself to arrive in the present.
The figure’s gaze was horrifying to behold—his left eye burned like a black sun, his right like a pale moon. He descended like an ancient, forgotten god.
The Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign had manifested.
Though it was merely a phantom separated by countless eons, the aura radiating from it climbed exponentially, warping and distorting the space around it as if the physical world was struggling to contain his presence.
A suffocating, apocalyptic Pressure crushed down on the cavern.
Gu Changge’s eyes narrowed. He estimated that the true Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign must have been an ancient monster who had already broken through to a higher plane of existence!
The Immortal Realm!
Even as a mere wisp of a phantom, the figure was terrifyingly powerful—easily capable of wiping the floor with Great Saint Realm experts!
“Master! Save me!”
Seeing the towering silhouette, Ye Ling wept tears of absolute joy. He had found life within the jaws of death! He screamed in ecstasy, certain his survival was guaranteed.
“Master!” the old turtle inside the pendant cried out, trembling with reverence.
“The Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign…” Yin Mei gasped, her face draining of color. She shot Gu Changge a deeply worried look.
This was an entity from the Immortal Ancient era! His legend was so ancient it bordered on myth. He was said to control the very cycle of life and death, achieving true immortality through his mastery over reincarnation!
However, her panic subsided slightly when she saw Gu Changge’s expression. He hadn’t so much as blinked.
“Pathetic,” the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign rumbled, his voice echoing like grinding tectonic plates.
The moment he materialized, his cosmic gaze fell directly upon Ye Ling. His eyes were filled with undisguised, profound disappointment.
Even as a phantom projected across time, he instantly assessed the situation.
To think that the chosen heir of the mighty Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign was forced to burn his ultimate trump card… because he was getting beaten to death by a kid from his own generation.
It was humiliating. He never expected his legacy to be inherited by such a useless, pathetic weakling.
“Little turtle. You have also disappointed me greatly,” the Sovereign rumbled, glaring at the pendant.
He didn’t even bother to look at Gu Changge. He was a Heavenly Sovereign. Even as a mere wisp of a phantom, erasing a junior cultivator from existence was as easy as breathing.
“Master…” the old turtle whimpered guiltily, understanding the Sovereign’s disdain.
But it was impossible to explain! Gu Changge’s horrifying power couldn’t be summed up in a few sentences. Most importantly, the Sovereign hadn’t yet realized who he was looking at.
“Master…” Ye Ling cowered, flushing with deep shame.
But the shame was secondary to the overwhelming relief. He finally had his ultimate backing! No matter how freakishly strong Gu Changge was, could he possibly stand against a mythical god from the Immortal Ancient era?
If Ye Ling had known the golden rune contained an actual phantom of his Master, he wouldn’t have spent the last ten minutes screaming and running for his life!
The tables had officially turned. It was time for Gu Changge to taste despair.
However, Ye Ling’s victorious smirk faltered.
Gu Changge was just… standing there. His expression hadn’t changed. He didn’t look worried. He didn’t look afraid.
Was he putting on a brave face? Or did he actually have a counter to a god?
“Heavenly Sovereign… what a pity. It’s merely a phantom,” Gu Changge finally spoke. He casually looked the towering silhouette up and down, his tone dripping with patronizing regret.
“Hmm? Junior. You dare look down on me?!”
The Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign finally turned his cosmic gaze upon Gu Changge. His eyes narrowed, turning cold and abyssal.
He unleashed his terrifying Pressure, intending to crush this arrogant gnat into bloody paste. Had they been outside the tomb, that mere flex of his aura would have leveled mountains and shattered the sky. Within this enclosed space, he was the absolute, undisputed god.
Gu Changge simply smiled, entirely unaffected by the crushing aura. “Look down on you? No, Heavenly Sovereign. You simply overestimate yourself.”
Gu Changge never entered a battle without considering every variable. The fact that the Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign would leave a final trump card to protect his heir was entirely within his calculations.
He wasn’t anxious. Everything was proceeding exactly as planned.
“Insolent brat…”
The Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign’s face darkened with genuine anger. When had anyone ever dared to speak to him like this? And a junior, no less! Although he was merely a phantom, he retained the pride and temper of his true self.
He raised a hand, intending to physically erase Gu Changge from the timeline.
Then, his eyes fell upon the weapon resting casually in Gu Changge’s grip.
The Sovereign’s pupils contracted to pinpricks.
The stronger a cultivator was, the more they understood the true, terrifying nature of that ominous weapon. The Eight Desolate Demon Halberd’s origins were… apocalyptic.
He hadn’t noticed it initially, but now, the sight of it caused the ancient god to freeze in momentary shock.
Hum!
In that split second of hesitation, the void surrounding the Sovereign abruptly blurred, flooded with an overwhelming, oppressive Rule force.
The Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign blinked in shock. For a fraction of a microsecond, his phantom body had been forcibly locked in place. The restraint lasted less than a breath, but the mere fact that it happened left him reeling in disbelief.
“Watch carefully, Heavenly Sovereign,” Gu Changge said with a cruel, mocking smile.
He vanished.
In a single step, Gu Changge bypassed the phantom entirely, reappearing directly in front of a paralyzed Ye Ling.
He brought the Eight Desolate Demon Halberd down in a vicious, overhead arc. The blade carried an absolute, unstoppable edge, the surging demonic energy threatening to drown the entire cavern in darkness.
“What…!”
The relief on Ye Ling’s face shattered, replaced by a mask of absolute, screaming terror.
The killing intent radiating from the halberd literally froze his soul. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t fight.
“Master! Save me! I don’t want to die!” Ye Ling shrieked, his face contorted in the ugliest expression of despair imaginable. “I refuse! I haven’t reached the peak! I haven’t—!”
Gu Changge didn’t let him finish the sentence.
The Eight Desolate Demon Halberd sheared through the void.
Pfft!
With a sickening crunch, Ye Ling—the glorious Son of Providence, eyes bulging with disbelief and eternal regret—was instantly vaporized into a fine mist of blood. His body and soul were utterly annihilated.
“As you can see, your heir was pathetically weak,” Gu Changge smiled warmly, turning back to face the stunned phantom.
“JUNIOR! HOW DARE YOU! YOU ARE COURTING DEATH!”
The Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign erupted into apocalyptic fury.
To execute his heir right in front of his face! The sheer, unadulterated audacity of this brat was unfathomable! He was practically begging to be erased from existence! Even if he was the current master of that cursed halberd, he would not be spared!
The Sovereign unleashed his full, cataclysmic aura. It felt as though the entire sky was collapsing downward, aiming to crush Gu Changge into subatomic dust.
“Don’t be so impatient, Heavenly Sovereign,” Gu Changge chuckled smoothly. “I’ll send you down to keep your heir company right now.”
With a flick of his wrist, a palm-sized, pitch-black treasure bottle slid out of his sleeve.
Hum!
Following Gu Changge’s mental command, pitch-black runes exploded into existence, branding themselves into the very fabric of the void. They rapidly formed a flawless, inescapable cage, entirely sealing off the section of space occupied by the Heavenly Sovereign’s phantom.
The runes pulsed with a bizarre, terrifying energy, acting like chains that burrowed into every inch of reality. Thick, suffocating black mist began to violently erupt from the floor.
“That is… the Immortal Devouring Demonic Art…!”
The Reincarnation Heavenly Sovereign’s furious expression finally cracked, replaced by dawning horror. He suddenly realized he had walked directly into a trap.
Staring at the pitch-black Great Dao Treasure Bottle floating above Gu Changge’s palm, the ancient god felt a chill run through his phantom form. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
He completely abandoned any thought of underestimating this ‘junior.’
This boy was the Inheritor of the Demonic Arts!
“Is this guy even human?!” the old turtle shrieked from within the pendant, trembling so violently it thought its shell would shatter. “He’s actually trying to harvest a Heavenly Sovereign?! He’s a monster!”
Hum!
The dense array of black runes rapidly expanded. The black mist surged, turning into a pitch-black void that completely swallowed the area!
Holding the Great Dao Treasure Bottle, Gu Changge calmly stepped into the darkness.
From within the pitch-black void, muffled roars of fury, desperate unwillingness, and sheer disbelief echoed out, causing the old turtle’s soul to whimper in terror.
That was the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign! Its once-invincible master! Even as a phantom, he possessed the power to shatter galaxies with a single thought!
Yet, a mythical god from an ancient era was currently being hunted, trapped, and devoured by a twenty-something-year-old junior!
It was too shocking. It was too horrifying. If word of this ever reached the outside world, it would trigger an apocalyptic war.
A few moments later, the violent fluctuations ceased. The suffocating black mist rapidly dissipated, and the Great Dao runes faded back into the void.
Gu Changge casually strolled out of the clearing, his expression perfectly serene. The Great Dao Treasure Bottle vanished back up his sleeve with a quick flash.
The towering phantom of the Reincarnation Ancient Heavenly Sovereign was completely gone.

Yeah, between the last chapter and this one, something got messed up. I suspect the previous chapter was a draft of this one, rather than the chapter it was supposed to be.
