Synopsis

Transmigrating into a cultivation world is great. Becoming the Young Master of an Immortal Sect in the Upper Realm is even better. But realizing you are the designated Villain destined to be crushed by the Children of Destiny? That’s a problem.

Gu Changge finds himself in exactly this position. Everywhere he goes, he encounters “Protagonists.”

The underdog with a mysterious beauty in his ring?

The trash disciple possessed by an ancient God King?

The Reborn Immortal Emperor returning to the past?

They have the cheats. They have the plot armor. And most importantly, they are surrounded by peerless beauties and destined heroines.

Looking at the System Panel, Gu Changge smiled elegantly. “Who said the Villain has to lose? Who said the Hero gets the girl?”

[Ding! Villain System Activated.] [Task: Humiliate the Protagonist. Reward: Luck Points.] [Task: Capture the Protagonist’s Heroine. Reward: Destiny Value & Exclusive Talents.]

Chapter 028: This Feels Quite Comfortable, The Benefits of High Luck Points

Elder Ming’s original name was Lin Ming. After ascending to the Upper Realm, he became an external retainer of the Gu Family and adopted the title “Elder Ming.”

Thirty thousand years ago, he was merely at the Void God Realm. Today, he was a God King—a powerhouse even by the standards of the Gu Family.

Of course, due to the restrictions of the Lower Realm, Elder Ming could not unleash his full strength. If he did, the Will of Heaven and Earth would violently reject him. Even a God King could not ignore the laws of a world entirely.

“So he single-handedly founded the Lin Family.”

Gu Changge nodded as the information surfaced in his mind.

Simultaneously, he communicated with the System. “How many Luck Points does Ye Chen have left?”

He had heard the System notification earlier. With the plot derailing, the world’s correction force had spawned a new Child of Providence. It seemed Ye Chen was close to being abandoned by his Heavenly Father.

Or perhaps, “Child of Providence” was merely a title bestowed upon specific archetypes, and multiple could exist at once. Gu Changge wondered what trope this new one would embody. He had already dealt with the “Waste/Broken Engagement” type.

“Master, Ye Chen currently has 230 Luck Points remaining.”

“The reason ‘Providence Backlash’ exists is because the gap between my Luck Points and the Protagonist’s is too large, correct?” Gu Changge asked.

“Affirmative. As the Host’s Luck Points increase, the Backlash will gradually disappear.”

Gu Changge nodded, deep in thought.

Although Ye Chen was weak, dealing with him had required significant effort. Gu Changge could have crushed him like a bug, but the Heavenly Dao protected him with “accidents” and “coincidences.”

Initially, Gu Changge had a pitiful 30 Luck Points. Ye Chen had over 500. The disparity was nearly twenty-fold.

Why did the original host—a True Disciple of an Immortal Great Sect—have such abysmal luck?

Aside from his role as a villain, it was likely his personality. Arrogant, indifferent, and obsessed with cultivation to the point of stupidity. He was the perfect XP piñata for a protagonist. He wouldn’t deign to kill an ant like Ye Chen, allowing the hero to survive and grow.

But the current Gu Changge was different. He was an anomaly.

He refused to follow the script. The Heavenly Dao could no longer use simple “accidents” to protect the protagonist, so it resorted to “Providence Backlash”—a direct threat of divine punishment.

It was similar to the myths of the Primordial Era: Humans were the destined protagonists. Defying that destiny invited Heaven’s wrath.

However, as Gu Changge plundered Ye Chen’s luck, the gap narrowed.

Now, when he harbored killing intent toward Ye Chen, the palpitations of danger were gone.

This feels comfortable.

Just as the System said, now that his Luck was high enough, the Heavenly Dao could no longer blatantly cheat. It couldn’t just drop a Chaos Lightning Bolt on his head anymore.

Gu Changge opened his attribute interface.

[Host]: Gu Changge [Identity]: True Disciple of Daootian Immortal Palace [Constitution]: Devil Heart, Dao Bone [Cultivation]: Conferred Lord Realm (Mid-Stage) [Techniques]: Daootian Immortal Scripture (7th Layer), Myriad Transformations Demonic Body (Talent), Innate Godly Spirit (Talent), Immortal Devouring Demonic Art… [Destiny Points]: 100 [Luck Points]: 120 (Black) [System Shop]: Open [Warehouse]: Domain-Breaking Talisman x1, World Seed Fragment (1/3)

He had used his points to ascend a minor realm.

While the Daootian Immortal Scripture remained at the seventh layer, his cultivation base had broken through to the mid-Conferred Lord Realm. Compared to the Young Supremes of the Upper Realm, his speed was practically cheating.

But Destiny Points earned through my own hard work… can that really be called cheating?

Gu Changge also contemplated his “Black” Luck Points.

Unlike the standard colors—Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple—Black didn’t seem to have any inherent properties. No treasures fell from the sky, but no disasters struck either.

It seemed to mark his status as an Anomaly.

To put it simply: Black Luck represented the Unknown and the Unpredictable.

PS: This chapter might have a bit too much explanation. Considering that Providence Backlash was overly suppressing the protagonist, I provided some justification for realism. This won’t happen again in the future. After all, my style is all about being invincible and doing whatever feels satisfying. Also, today is still five updates, and I’m asking for everything.
