Chapter 029: More Than Just “Wonderful,” The Ancestor is Returning
Having verified his hypothesis, Gu Changge didn’t dwell on it further.
With the System in hand and his own intelligence, he was confident he could handle any “Child of Providence” the world threw at him.
Take Ye Chen, for example. Even with the Heavenly Dao acting as his personal bodyguard, wasn’t he still played to death? His goddess, Su Qingge, had severed ties with him and become Gu Changge’s woman. His final reliance, the spirit Yan Ji, was destined to fall into Gu Changge’s pocket sooner or later.
The feeling of absolute control… it was more than just “wonderful.” It was intoxicating.
A rare, genuine smile touched Gu Changge’s lips as he descended to the lower deck of the flying boat.
The atmosphere here was far livelier. The young prodigies of the Eastern Wilderness were gathered in groups, debating the Dao and sparring to pass the time.
“The Young Lord seems to be in a good mood today?”
Su Qingge followed closely beside him. Her flawless, gem-like eyes blinked in surprise.
In her experience, Gu Changge rarely showed such a natural, uncalculated smile. Usually, he was either deep in thought, coldly indifferent, or indulging in his wicked sense of humor—teasing her until she flushed.
This man was truly bad.
“Naturally,” Gu Changge replied casually. “Tell me about the Central State. Which forces are worth my attention?”
Recently, he had noticed Su Qingge’s Luck Points climbing again, nearing the 400 mark. Consequently, his own Luck Points had risen in tandem.
It seemed that simply being around her granted him a passive buff.
This discovery intrigued him. Su Qingge definitely had secrets she hadn’t shared. For a normal person, Luck Points didn’t just skyrocket for no reason.
However, Gu Changge didn’t pry. Everyone had secrets, and as long as they didn’t hinder him, he didn’t care.
Su Qingge nodded. She had done her homework, anticipating his questions.
“The Central State is divided into eight great domains. The Central Heaven Domain is the most prosperous. The ‘Dao Discussion Conference’ hosted by the Third Prince of the Great Xia Imperial Dynasty will be held there…”
“A conference of that level is beneath the Young Lord’s status. Please, treat it as a joke,” Chu Xuan interjected, hurrying over to pay his respects.
In the distance, the other young prodigies smiled wryly. This conference was the event of the decade for them—a chance to make their names known. Yet, to the Young Lord, it was nothing more than a child’s play.
“I have no interest in the conference,” Gu Changge said, dismissing it with a wave of his hand.
He was here to retrieve an item and harvest a new crop of leeks. Watching a bunch of Lower Realm “geniuses” peck at each other like chickens? How boring would that be?
Participating in such low-level face-slapping would only lower his own prestige.
…
Meanwhile, as Gu Changge’s luxurious flying boat tore through the skies toward the Central Heaven Domain…
The Ancient Lin Family.
As one of the oldest clans in the Central State, the Lin Family had stood tall for tens of thousands of years. Their founder had shattered the void and ascended thirty thousand years ago, cementing their status as a legendary power.
Even the Imperial Dynasties and Holy Lands treated the Lin Family with wary respect.
At this moment, in the deepest ancestral hall of the Lin clan, the atmosphere was restless.
“What is happening?”
“Why has the Great Elder summoned us so urgently?”
A group of elderly men and women gathered, their expressions solemn. Among them stood the current Patriarch of the Lin Family.
These were the true powerbrokers of the clan. A stomp from any one of them could cause tremors in the outside world. Yet, they were all confused.
The Great Elder had been in Secluded Cultivation for nearly ten thousand years. Many younger clansmen assumed he had already passed away. For him to emerge now… something monumental must have happened.
All eyes turned to the figure at the front of the hall—an old man with white hair but a youthful, ruddy face. He radiated vitality and power.
“We pay our respects to the Great Elder!”
“May we ask why you have summoned us?”
The Great Elder took a deep breath. His expression was strange—a mix of excitement, disbelief, and trembling awe.
“Today…” his voice shook, “I sensed the aura of the Ancestor.”
“The Ancestor… may be returning!”
Silence.
Dead silence fell over the ancestral hall.
Then, chaos erupted.
“What?!”
“Did I hear that correctly?”
“The Ancestor who ascended thirty thousand years ago is coming back?!”
“How is that possible?!”
Ascension was already a miracle. Descending from the Upper Realm was a feat thousands of times harder—practically impossible.
Had the Ancestor reached an unimaginable realm? Had he come to guide the entire clan to the Upper Realm?
Faces flushed red with excitement. The Ancestor was a god in their eyes. The Lin Family’s current glory was built entirely on his legacy.
“This is wonderful! Wonderful!”
“With the Ancestor’s return, our Lin Family will rise to unprecedented heights!”
“Hahaha! We must announce this to the world! Let the Great Xia Dynasty and the Garuda Holy Land know that the Lin Family’s god has returned!”
“They will all have to come and kowtow! Our prestige will shake the Central State!”
The Great Elder stroked his beard, nodding in satisfaction at their reaction.
“Very good. Notify all clan members immediately. We must prepare a grand welcome.”
“The Lin Family… is about to create history once again!”
