Chapter 241: Knowing a Little Bit of Divination Art
State of Zhao, Lin’an City
Morning light broke over the eastern horizon, signaling the awakening of all things.
As the first rays of dawn pierced the mist, the vast capital of Lin’an shed its nocturnal silence. The empty streets gradually filled with the noise of vendors and early risers, the heartbeat of the mortal world resuming its rhythm.
Prince Qi’s Mansion
Outside the vermilion gates of a secluded guest courtyard.
“Sister, are you really not going in?”
Sheng Zi’er looked at her elder sister with a puzzled expression. They were already at the threshold. She couldn’t understand what her sister was so afraid of.
Sheng Shui’er stood frozen, her hand hovering near the door. She brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her eyes darting nervously.
“That… Little Sister, could you perhaps deliver a few words to Senior Brother for me? I… I will wait here.”
“What words?” Sheng Zi’er asked, her curiosity piqued.
Sheng Shui’er’s expression stiffened. A trace of annoyance at her own carelessness flashed in her eyes.
She had been too hasty. She couldn’t let her innocent sister know about the “agreement” she had made with Li Meng—the price she had promised to pay for their salvation. If Zi’er knew, she might do something foolish to intervene. And if she let Zi’er deliver a message, Li Meng might say something that would make the secret impossible to hide.
“No… nothing. Never mind. Let’s go in.”
Sheng Shui’er took a deep breath, grabbed her sister’s wrist, and pulled her through the gate before she could lose her nerve again.
As soon as they entered the courtyard, Sheng Zi’er’s eyes lit up.
“It’s Senior Brother Li!”
In the stone pavilion situated in the center of the garden, Li Meng sat at a table. Beside him sat a very, very small girl.
She looked like a little Daoist acolyte, perhaps six or seven years old. Her face was as white and smooth as jade, undeniably cute and gentle in appearance.
Sheng Shui’er let go of her sister’s hand, her gaze fixing on the man in the pavilion.
Senior Brother Li’s appearance had indeed changed greatly since they last saw him in the Sect. The foundation of his cultivation had transformed him; he looked younger, his features sharper and more divine, exuding an aura of unfathomable depth.
Remembering the terms of their deal, a flush of heat crept up Sheng Shui’er’s neck and settled on her cheeks.
Just then, Li Meng looked up. His gaze met the sisters’.
It was gentle, calm, and devoid of any predatory intent.
Sheng Shui’er felt a massive weight lift from her heart. She exhaled softly and continued walking toward the pavilion with her sister.
They entered the structure and bowed deeply, hands clasped in formal salute.
“Congratulations to Senior Li on successfully establishing your Foundation!”
Both women were still in the Qi Condensation stage. In the cultivation world, the gap between stages was a chasm of status. Calling him “Senior” (Shishu) was the correct etiquette.
Li Meng chuckled, stroking his beard with a relaxed air.
“You two Junior Sisters are too polite. Please, call me Senior Brother as you always have.”
He waved his sleeve.
Swish.
Two exquisite tea sets flew out from the Sword Nurturing Gourd at his waist, landing softly on the stone table before them.
“Junior Sister Shui’er, Junior Sister Zi’er, please sit.”
Sheng Zi’er glanced at her sister. Seeing Shui’er take a seat, she hurriedly sat down as well, though she couldn’t help but steal glances at Li Meng.
Senior Brother Li had truly changed dramatically. Yesterday, she hadn’t gotten a clear look—he had left too quickly. As she thought about it, a blush spread across her cheeks. Senior Brother Li had bullied her yesterday. Though there were reasons behind it, the fact remained that he had bullied her.
“Junior Sister Shui’er, Junior Sister Zi’er, it’s been a long time!”
The three of them exchanged glances. Sheng Zi’er’s face grew even redder. She had seen Senior Brother just yesterday, while her sister hadn’t—but that was because her sister had been pretending to sleep.
Sheng Shui’er smiled gently, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“I never expected to see Senior Brother Li in Lin’an City. What a pleasant surprise.”
Her gaze shifted to the little girl beside Li Meng.
“Senior Brother Li, who is this…?”
Her aura bore some resemblance to Senior Brother Li’s. Could she be a Foundation Establishment disciple?
Li Meng looked down at the little girl beside him and introduced her to the sisters.
“This is my Junior Sister Qi Wei. She is a True Disciple of the Masked Moon Peak lineage.”
A True Disciple of the Masked Moon Peak lineage? A True Disciple?
This news left the sisters stunned. Although they were members of the Zhao royal family, they received no special treatment in the Joyous Union Sect. Many people didn’t even know they were princesses. To those on the mountain, a cultivator’s mortal identity held little importance.
The sisters quickly bowed to Qi Wei with clasped hands.
Qi Wei waved her small hand dismissively.
“You all chat; just pretend I’m not here.”
She picked up a teacup, cradling it in both hands as she took a sip.
The sisters’ eyes lingered on Qi Wei, both pondering a confusing question: Why would Qi Wei, a True Disciple, call Li Meng “Senior Brother”? Had Li Meng also joined the Masked Moon Peak lineage?
Their expressions made it clear to Li Meng what they were thinking.
“Little Sister and I have known each other for a long time. I am a Registered Disciple of a True Disciple from Masked Moon Peak. We each use our own titles.”
The sisters nodded in understanding. No wonder the two seemed so close—Qi Wei had been tugging on Senior Brother Li’s sleeve the whole time.
Sheng Shui’er turned her attention back to Li Meng.
“Senior Brother, why have you come to Lin’an City?”
Qi Wei couldn’t help but pout at this question.
“Why else? To save you, of course! Senior Brother traveled thousands of miles to find you. Did you really think it was just a coincidence or chance?”
What were these two thinking? The world didn’t have that many coincidences or chances.
The sisters glanced sideways at Qi Wei, who glared back at them. They fell silent, their expressions thoughtful.
Sheng Shui’er looked at Li Meng again.
“Senior Brother, how did you know my sister and I were in danger?”
Lin’an City was not close to the Joyous Union Sect. Although Prince Qi’s Mansion had channels to communicate with the Sect, they were rarely used. It was unlikely that their family had sent a message to Senior Brother Li for help.
Li Meng chuckled, stroking his beard.
“This Senior Brother knows a little bit of divination art. Peeking into the fate of you two Junior Sisters is something I can manage.”
Divination art?
The sisters both stared at Li Meng in surprise. Qi Wei also looked at her Senior Brother with astonishment. Senior Brother knew divination art?
Sheng Shui’er had heard Senior Brother mention this before. He had indeed said he knew some divination art. But was divination art really that miraculous? While Prince Qi’s Mansion wasn’t hard to find, locating the two sisters specifically would not have been easy.
Sheng Zi’er gazed at Li Meng with admiration. Senior Brother was truly amazing—he even knew divination art! Divination art wasn’t something just anyone could master.
Sheng Shui’er’s expression shifted slightly. Had Senior Brother come to Lin’an City specifically to find her, not because of their agreement?

This time, Junior Sister Shui’er’s increase in affection surpassed Junior Sister Zi’er’s.
The system notifications brought a faint smile to Li Meng’s lips.
Sheng Shui’er bowed to Li Meng with clasped hands.
“Senior Brother, great kindness need not be spoken. If there is ever anything this Junior Sister can do for you in the future, just give the order. I would go through fire and water without hesitation.”
Sheng Zi’er tried to mimic her sister’s gesture, but Li Meng stopped her with a gentle breeze. A gust of wind wrapped around Sheng Zi’er, preventing her from bowing.
“You two Junior Sisters are too polite. As fellow disciples, how could I stand by and watch you die? As Senior Brother who knows you, I have even less reason to ignore your plight.”
Li Meng smiled warmly, picking up the teapot to pour tea for the sisters.
Sheng Zi’er’s cheeks flushed red. Her gaze toward Li Meng grew even more worshipful and admiring.
Senior Brother was, as always, such a good person.
