Chapter 219: Junior Sister Xia’s Choice
Uncontrollable desire surged from within his body.
Li Meng swallowed hard, his gaze fixed on the enchanting Junior Sister Xia before him. The air around her shimmered with a pink haze, heavy with the scent of peach blossoms and Musk.
The Innate Charm Body is truly formidable!
He inwardly exclaimed in admiration. Even with his cultivation base, he felt a flicker of heat in his lower abdomen.
He reached out and flicked her forehead with a sharp thwack.
“Junior Sister, stop messing around!”
The strange, intoxicating aura enveloping the courtyard instantly dissipated like smoke in the wind.
Xia Qian covered her forehead, looking up at him with teary, aggrieved eyes.
“Senior Brother… am I… am I ugly?”
Why was he so indifferent? The rejection stung, planting a seed of defeat in her heart.
Li Meng sighed, reaching out to grasp her slender, jade-like hand. He pulled her gently toward the stone table.
“If you are considered ugly, then there are no beautiful women left in the Joyous Union Sect.”
Li Meng’s words made Xia Qian beam with instant joy, her previous gloom vanishing. She obediently followed him to the stone table, and they sat down together.
“Junior Sister,” Li Meng began, his tone serious. “You possess the Innate Charm Body. If you go out to gain experience, you must use your Charm Techniques cautiously.”
Female cultivators with the Innate Charm Body were considered supreme Cauldrons in the cultivation world. Although it wasn’t usually apparent to the naked eye, once they utilized their techniques, experienced cultivators could detect the clues. To travel alone was to invite danger.
Xia Qian seemed to think of something, and her cheeks flushed a bright, feverish red. She shyly glanced at him, her hands gripping her skirt so tightly her knuckles turned white.
“That… Senior… Senior Brother!”
“Junior Sister, what’s wrong?” Li Meng asked, smiling gently.
“Huff!”
Xia Qian exhaled a turbid breath, steeling herself. She looked up, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and determination.
“Senior Brother… Master said that my Pure Yin Body is an obstacle to achieving Perfection in the Innate Charm Body. Master told… told me to find a man to… to…”
By the end, her voice was barely a whisper, and she looked ready to bolt.
When her Master, the Ancestor Nangong Wan, had told her to find a partner, the first face that popped into her mind was Li Meng’s. But Master had explicitly said Li Meng was not a suitable candidate. She claimed that if Xia Qian could achieve Harmonious Union with a high-level cultivator possessing a Pure Yang Body, it would be infinitely more beneficial for her physique.
Xia Qian, her face burning, stared directly at him.
“Master said she would arrange a Golden Core Elder for me. I don’t know what to do. She told me to think it over clearly before breaking through to the mid-Foundation Establishment stage. Senior Brother… should… should I agree?”
Facing her expectant yet terrified gaze, the smile disappeared from Li Meng’s face.
Is this the Ancestor’s arrangement?
Li Meng frowned slightly, a flicker of struggle passing through his eyes.
Ancestor Nangong Wan surely had her reasons. A Golden Core Elder with a Pure Yang Body would indeed be the optimal path for cultivation speed. But the thought of watching Junior Sister Xia—this foolish, affectionate girl—throw herself into another man’s arms solely for power…
Li Meng felt a cold displeasure rise in his chest.
If not for that night of accidental intimacy, he might have advised her to follow the Ancestor’s logical path. But their relationship was no longer simply that of Senior and Junior Brother.
Li Meng stood up and walked around the table.
“Sen… Senior Brother?”
He stopped beside her and, without a word, scooped her up by the waist.
“Ah!”
Xia Qian let out a soft cry, her face flushing crimson as she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Li Meng looked down at her beautiful face.
“Junior Sister, is this what you want?”
Xia Qian understood his meaning immediately.
Senior Brother is really something… asking at a time like this.
She should just let him decide. How could she answer such a shameful thing?
She gave him a reproachful, watery sidelong glance.
“Senior Brother… it’s better to cook the rice before it’s too late. The desire for strength is a torment. If you leave the Sect for a long time… perhaps one day I will be weak and follow Master’s arrangement.”
A faint smile appeared at the corner of Li Meng’s mouth.
“Junior Sister, if you give yourself to me, you will lose a great Fated Chance. You understand this, right? A Golden Core Elder could give you the world.”
“Senior Brother is my greatest Fated Chance,” she whispered, burying her face in his chest. “I don’t care about the others.”
“I possess the Five Spirit Roots—a waste body. I cannot promise you the Great Dao.”
“Even if we can only walk together for a hundred years… I will have no regrets!”
Bang!
Li Meng kicked open the door to the pavilion. He carried her inside, his footsteps swift and urgent as he ascended the stairs.
Nearby, The Grand Pavilion
On the viewing platform of the highest pavilion on Masked Moon Peak, the air was cold.
Crack!
A teacup shattered in a pale hand.
Ruoshui stared at the pavilion down the mountain, her gaze icy.
“Master, aren’t you going to stop them?”
Opposite her, Ancestor Nangong Wan flicked her sleeve calmly. A new tea set appeared, and she poured a fresh cup for her eldest disciple.
“Why should I stop them?”
Her voice was soft, gentle, and utterly unbothered.
“But…” Ruoshui grit her teeth. “You said…”
Nangong Wan glanced at Ruoshui. “If it were you, what would you choose?”
Ruoshui hesitated, the words catching in her throat. She looked down at the tea swirling in her cup—turbulent, hot, just like the emotions in the pavilion below.
“Then why did Master say those things to Junior Sister Xia?” Ruoshui asked, confused. “About the Golden Core Elder?”
A faint smile touched Nangong Wan’s lips. She turned to look at the sparkling surface of the lake.
“Naturally, it was to push that girl. Without a little crisis, how could she muster the courage to choose your disciple over ‘logic’? Sometimes, people need a cliff to realize they want to fly.”
Realization dawned on Ruoshui’s face.
So that was Master’s plan.
“Master, does that mean the part about the Pure Yang Body being beneficial is false?”
Nangong Wan shook her head.
“No, that is true. A Golden Core Pure Yang partner would skyrocket her cultivation. But compared to the perfection of the State of Mind, that trade-off is insignificant. Besides…” She took a sip of tea. “Now that the girl has secured a bond with Li Meng, why worry about the Great Dao being hopeless?”
In Nangong Wan’s eyes, Li Meng was the girl’s greatest Fated Chance.
If Xia Qian had chosen the Golden Core Elder for power, Nangong Wan would have been disappointed. It would have meant the girl was destined to be a slave to her desire for strength, forever wandering between men for power.
Ruoshui sat back, a flicker of irritation in her eyes.
Master is really too much. Plotting against my disciple and my… disciple.
It caught her off guard. But looking down at the closed pavilion, she couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of relief.
The commotion in the lakeside pavilion lasted for a very, very long time.
Eventually, silence returned to the bamboo grove.
In the room on the upper floor, the bed curtains were drawn tight. Inside, the scene was one of languid, post-coital warmth.
Xia Qian’s curvaceous, jade-like body lay lazily in Li Meng’s embrace. They were skin to skin, silently sharing body heat.
A small jade bottle sat on the edge of the bed.
Li Meng waved his hand, and the bottle flew into the Sword Nurturing Gourd at the foot of the bed. It contained the Primal Yin energy he had just harvested—vital for his cultivation, but given with absolute willingness.
“Senior Brother…” Xia Qian murmured, her voice husky and dreamlike. “Was that a dream?”
