Chapter 264: Wen Huanhuan’s Night
After a long while, Li Meng finally pulled away from Wen Huanhuan’s red lips.
They gazed into each other’s eyes, breath mingling in the small space.
Wen Huanhuan’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. Her voice was husky, barely a whisper.
“Do what you want to do.”
To Li Meng, those words were an unmistakable invitation. He opened his mouth to speak, perhaps to tease or reassure her, but her expression hardened instantly.
“No talking tonight!”
She pushed him back gently and stood up. Her hands moved to the sash of her dress. Although her robes were exquisite and layered, they were not complicated.
In just a few breaths, silk pooled on the floor like spilled water.
A breathtakingly beautiful, jade-white body was revealed to Li Meng’s hungry eyes. The moonlight filtering through the window painted her curves in silver and shadow.
“Is it beautiful?” she asked, her voice flat, her face expressionless.
Li Meng stared, his throat dry. His gaze grew fervent, sweeping over her form.
He nodded uncontrollably. “How could it not be? It is… perfection.”
Wen Huanhuan turned and climbed onto the bed. The movement highlighted the alluring curve of her waist and hips, sending another shockwave through Li Meng’s senses.
“Come up.”
Li Meng took a deep breath.
He was no gentleman. His earlier words about dying in the Kongming Hall were seventy percent truth, thirty percent calculation. The danger was real, but he never believed he wouldn’t return. Yet, without that dramatic flair, how could he have broken through her defenses?
The result was exactly as he had hoped. Tonight, he would truly conquer the iceberg that was Wen Huanhuan.
He stripped off his robes with practiced speed and scrambled onto the bed.
“Pull down the curtain.”
“Yes, Senior!”
Li Meng obeyed instantly. The heavy silk curtains fell, enclosing them in a world of their own.
Night deepened.
After an unknown amount of time, the lamp in the room flickered and died.
Later still, a faint sound echoed in the silence—the click of a door opening somewhere nearby. Moonlight spilled through the window, illuminating the bed curtains, which were swaying rhythmically.
Suddenly, the swaying stopped.
“Senior, what’s wrong?” Li Meng whispered, sensing the tension in her body.
Wen Huanhuan’s brows were furrowed tight. She had just released a burst of Divine Sense, scanning the surroundings.
A moment later, she relaxed. Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, and she turned her head into the pillow.
“It’s nothing.”
Li Meng grinned in the dark. He lowered his head, capturing her lips once more.
Next Door
Han Li sat cross-legged on his bed, eyes wide open.
A trace of confusion flickered in his gaze. Tonight, his heart was restless, his meditation broken by an inexplicable unease.
He released his Divine Sense, intending to sweep the ship. But as his awareness brushed against the neighboring room, it hit a wall.
Wen Huanhuan’s Divine Sense blocked him. It was a firm, impenetrable barrier.
Han Li froze. He understood instantly.
He got out of bed and walked to the window, looking up at the brilliant full moon.
A bitter melancholy washed over him. He had volunteered for this mission specifically to give Li Meng and his Junior Sister time alone. He had hoped for this outcome.
Yet, for two years, they had barely spoken. Wen Huanhuan had been cold, distant, impenetrable. He had begun to fear his plan had failed.
Now, staring at the moon, he realized he didn’t know his Junior Sister’s heart at all. But whatever was happening behind that barrier… it was what she needed. Even if it stung him.
Next Morning
“Senior… that…”
Li Meng lay on the bed, watching Wen Huanhuan with cautious eyes. Her mood was unpredictable this morning.
Moments ago, she had been nestled in his arms, her skin warm against his. Now, she was standing by the bed, dressing with efficient, jerky movements.
Her jade-white back was a landscape of beauty, but Li Meng didn’t dare make a sound. Last night, she had been vulnerable, almost desperate. Now, the armor was back up.
She finished tying her sash. Instead of leaving, she sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at him. Her face was expressionless.
“The relationship between me and Senior Brother needs time to resolve,” she said, her voice steady. “If you can return from the Kongming Hall alive… I will give you a satisfactory answer.”
[System Notification: Wen Huanhuan Affection +40] [Sub-profession Experience +200] [Affection MAXED] [Sub-profession Experience +500,000] [Reward: Fixed +100 Daily Experience]
Li Meng blinked, stunned by the sudden notification.
Maxed? Just like that?
Previously, her Affection had crawled upward at a snail’s pace. His pestering, his gifts, his promises—they had all been met with skepticism. She knew he was painting a pretty picture.
But today… it spiked to the limit in a single heartbeat. Was it the Longevity Pill? Or was it the realization that he might truly die for her?
“You… you must give me time!”
Seeing his silence, Wen Huanhuan glared at him. She reached out and pinched his ear, twisting it sharply.
“You haven’t forgotten about Senior Brother, have you?”
“Ouch! No, no!”
It didn’t hurt at all. Li Meng grinned, a shameless, lecherous expression overtaking his face.
He sat up, ignoring his nakedness, and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close.
“Senior, you don’t need to say more. I understand. This Junior is willing to wait forever if need be!”
Wen Huanhuan’s cheeks turned pink. She poked his forehead hard.
“You… one day you’ll be beaten to death because of a woman!”
Li Meng’s heart burst with joy. He had thought Wen Huanhuan was the unconquerable peak. Turns out, even ice melts with enough heat.
Li Meng’s heart burst with joy. He had thought Wen Huanhuan was the most difficult woman to conquer.
