Chapter 229: Her Name is Wei Yushu
Night deepened, then faded into dawn.
Early the next morning, Li Meng took his Junior Sister and left Prince Qi’s estate. Just like the day before, they wandered the districts surrounding the Imperial Astronomy Bureau, blending into the flow of mortal life.
Lin’an City, The Drunken Immortal Pavilion
“Esteemed guests, please come upstairs!”
The restaurant was bustling, a cacophony of chatter and clinking porcelain. The waiter at the door, a man named Chen Hao who had worked the floor for twenty years, possessed eyes that could spot a coin in a mud puddle. He watched the entrance like a hawk.
Oh? Two distinguished guests.
Chen Hao prided himself on his ability to read people. Thousands passed through these doors daily, and he could guess with eighty percent accuracy who belonged in the common hall and who belonged in the private suites.
These two were clearly top-tier.
One old, one young. The man had white hair and a long beard, yet his skin was unwrinkled and vibrant. The girl was small, but her lively eyes held a depth no child should possess. More importantly, their aura was distinct—clean, ethereal, out of place in the dusty mortal world.
Chen Hao flashed his most welcoming smile and bowed low.
“Are you two esteemed guests looking for a guest seat, an upper seat, or a private seat?”
Li Meng chuckled, stroking his beard. “What’s the difference?”
Chen Hao perked up, launching into his practiced spiel. “Allow me to explain! The Drunken Immortal Pavilion has seven floors. The first and second are guest seats for common dining. The third through fifth are upper seats for the wealthy. The sixth and seventh are private seats for the true elite. Naturally, the price ascends with the altitude!”
“Then we’ll take the highest.”
“Wonderful! Esteemed guests, please follow me!”
Chen Hao bowed at the waist, leading the way with the exaggerated flair of an opera performer.
Qi Wei covered her mouth to hide a giggle. This waiter was amusing.
Li Meng held his Junior Sister’s hand and followed him up the winding stairs.
As they ascended, Li Meng’s hand flickered inside his sleeve.
Swish.
A talisman shot out, transforming into a streak of golden light that slapped silently against a support beam, melting into the wood without a trace.
Qi Wei noticed. She glanced up at the hidden formation talisman and pursed her lips in a secret smile. She finally understood what Senior Brother had been doing during their “aimless” strolls.
Drunken Immortal Pavilion, Seventh Floor
“Senior Brother, this view is really nice,” Qi Wei said, leaning her small body against the railing of the private viewing platform.
Below, the crisscrossing streets of Lin’an City formed a dizzying tapestry of traffic and commerce. Even from this height, the hum of the city was audible, a constant thrum of life.
Li Meng stood beside her. He flicked his sleeve.
Rustle.
More than ten golden talismans flew out like a flock of birds. They transformed into streams of golden light, shooting away from the pavilion to attach themselves to nearby rooftops, nestle into eaves, or bury themselves in hidden corners of the district.
“Senior Brother, where are we going later?”
“Let’s go East.”
“Senior Brother… my feet hurt a little.” Qi Wei looked up at him with pitiful, puppy-dog eyes.
Li Meng sighed with a smile. He reached down and lifted her from the railing, placing her on the bench beside him. He tapped her nose gently.
“You little lazybones. If one day Senior Brother isn’t here, who will you act spoiled with then?”
Qi Wei’s eyes curved into crescents. She hugged his arm tightly.
“If Senior Brother isn’t here, I’ll just go find him!”
Is that a problem? Not at all. The East Victory Divine Continent is vast, but for a cultivator, distances are merely numbers.
Two hours later, Li Meng carried his Junior Sister out of the Drunken Immortal Pavilion. They continued their trek until the sun began to dip below the western walls.
It wasn’t until dusk that they returned to the gates of Prince Qi’s estate.
“Immortal Master! Please wait!”
Tang Shun, the estate steward, hurried over to intercept them.
“The Princess Consort requests your presence.”
Qi Wei, still nestled in Li Meng’s arms, glared at Tang Shun.
What is wrong with this guy? Why does he always stop Senior Brother?
Li Meng set her down gently. “Junior Sister, you go back to the courtyard first.”
“Oh.”
Qi Wei shot Tang Shun one last dirty look before turning away. Next time, we’re climbing over the wall. No more stewards.
Li Meng followed Tang Shun deep into the estate. They walked through twisting corridors until they reached a secluded inner sanctuary.
The courtyard was large and serene, dominated by a small lake. In the center stood a pavilion connected to the shore by a zigzagging stone bridge.
Tang Shun stopped at the bridgehead and bowed.
“Immortal Master, please. The Princess Consort is waiting.”
Li Meng looked toward the pavilion. Gauze curtains obscured the interior, revealing only the silhouette of a graceful, curvaceous figure sitting at a stone table.
He stepped onto the bridge. The walk was short.
“Immortal Master, please come in.”
A gentle, soft voice drifted from within.
Li Meng lifted the gauze curtain and entered.
The woman inside stood up. She placed her hands at her waist and performed a formal, elegant bow.
“Immortal Master.”
Li Meng looked her up and down.
Today, Wei Yushu wore a brownish-green palace dress that exuded nobility and maturity. The fabric clung to her voluptuous waistline, and the cut revealed a hint of snowy white skin at her chest, adding a layer of allure to her dignified presence.
Li Meng sat down at the stone table.
“I wonder why the Princess Consort summoned me?”
Wei Yushu smiled gracefully. She picked up a porcelain teapot and poured him a cup.
“My maiden name is Wei, given name Yushu. Over the years, I have often heard Shui’er and Zi’er speak of the Immortal Master. Thank you for your grace and care toward my daughters.”
Li Meng chuckled, stroking his beard. “I felt an instant connection with my two Junior Sisters. As their Senior Brother, it is only right to look after them.”
Had he cared for them? Probably not in the way she imagined. Their relationship was strictly transactional.
Wei Yushu stood and walked around the table to his side. She bent slightly at the waist, offering the tea with both hands.
“If not for the Immortal Master bestowing medicine years ago, how could there be a Princess Consort of Qi today? For your life-saving grace, I have no way to repay you. I can only offer this tea as a gesture of my respect.”
Li Meng stood up quickly. He reached out, his hands grasping her delicate, jade-like fingers to help her straighten.
“Princess Consort, you are too polite!”
As their skin touched, Li Meng’s heart stirred.
This woman truly retained her charm. Even with only light makeup, the years had been kind to her. Her mature, ripened beauty was a deadly weapon against men like him.
He took the teacup from her hands. Under her smiling gaze, he drank it in one go.
Their eyes met.
“Immortal Master, please sit.”
“Princess Consort, please.”

They sat back down.
Wei Yushu looked at him, her expression shifting from gratitude to something more intense.
“The reason I invited the Immortal Master here tonight,” she began, her gentle voice echoing in the quiet pavilion, “is to confirm one thing.”
