Chapter 202: Senior Brother’s Side Is Too Crowded

Feeling the burning gazes of envy and jealousy bearing down on him from all directions, a trace of faux melancholy flashed in Li Meng’s eyes.

He could only hope that after today, this wouldn’t affect his grand, sage-like image in the hearts of the Outer and Inner Disciples.

“Look, they seem to be the True Disciples of the Masked Moon Peak lineage!”

“Which ones are they?”

“The little Taoist child who never seems to grow up is Senior Sister Qi Wei. The one in the Taoist robes is Junior Sister Zhang Tianhua!”

“How do you know that?”

“Senior Brother Zhao is a True Disciple, he told me!”

“Then the one wearing the black martial attire must be Junior Sister Yao Ning!”

“Huh? Where are Junior Sister Xue Ruyu and Junior Sister Xia Qian?”

“Wait, how are you so familiar with the True Disciples of Masked Moon Peak?”

“Wha—what are you looking at? Stop giving me that look! Senior Brother Zhao has portraits of all the Masked Moon Peak True Disciples, and I’ve seen them!”

Listening to the endless wave of gossip from the surrounding crowd, a flash of impatience crossed Qi Wei’s eyes.

Seriously, every time she went to a crowded place with her Senior Brother, they were instantly surrounded like a spectacle.

Why had she never received this kind of VIP treatment before?

“So annoying!” Qi Wei muttered, pouting her lips.

Li Meng lowered his head to look at the little Junior Sister beside him. He reached out casually and patted the top of her head.

Qi Wei giggled, her annoyance vanishing as her two small hands wrapped possessively around her Senior Brother’s wrist.

“It’s Senior Brother Su Meng from Broken Cliff Peak!”

Just then, a surprised exclamation erupted from a neighboring peak.

Outside the summit, a group of Inner Disciples escorted a single figure, riding the wind as they approached. They soared directly over the Martial Arena below, landing gracefully on the opposite peak.

The Outer and Inner Disciples on that peak immediately scattered, respectfully making way.

The man at the forefront wore pristine white robes, his long hair tied in a jade crown. He carried an imposing, dignified bearing.

He swept his gaze over the peaks surrounding the Martial Arena, his eyes locking onto the summit where Li Meng stood.

“Little Junior Sister, who is he?” Li Meng asked, glancing down.

Qi Wei shot a disdainful look at Su Meng. “Master said that the Su family has expanded quite a bit within the Joyous Union Sect recently. The True Disciples of the Broken Cliff Peak lineage are all surnamed Su. They claim they all come from mortal bloodline families, but that’s a complete lie.”

She scoffed. “Every year, that Supreme Elder of Broken Cliff Peak’s mortal Cultivation family spends a massive amount of Spirit Stones in the mortal world. They search for mortals with decent aptitude, force them to change their surname, and add them to the Su family register. Those with average talent are kept as family servants, while the talented ones are sent to join the Joyous Union Sect’s Broken Cliff Peak lineage.”

“That guy is Su Meng. He is an outstanding figure among the Foundation Establishment disciples of Broken Cliff Peak, with the potential to become their new generation prodigy!”

A gentle, seemingly warm smile appeared on Su Meng’s face. From a distance, he cupped his hands and bowed in salute towards Li Meng’s group.

Li Meng merely glanced at him, completely indifferent.

His conflict with the Broken Cliff Peak lineage was significant. Why would he ever give a friendly look to one of their disciples?

Qi Wei also glanced at him, utterly unmoved.

As for the other Junior Sisters, they chose to ignore the man entirely. There were so many people here, who knew who he was actually saluting? Since they didn’t know, ignoring it was the best course of action.

“It’s him!”

Su Can was standing just behind Su Meng. Looking at Li Meng, who was casually surrounded by a garden of beauties, a vicious flash of jealousy and resentment burned in Su Can’s eyes.

An old man whose Lifespan Limit was rapidly approaching had actually succeeded in reaching Foundation Establishment!

Not only had he broken through, but he had also integrated into the Masked Moon Peak lineage. Even though he wasn’t technically a True Disciple, he was constantly flanked by a whole flock of them. It was painfully obvious that the old geezer held a high status within Masked Moon Peak.

Why did a dying old man get such a heaven-defying Fated Chance?

Su Can stepped closer to Su Meng and whispered, “Senior Brother, that is Li Meng. He is the main culprit behind the recent criticism of our Master!”

The incident between their Master and Li Meng had caused a massive uproar within the Sect. Very few people actually knew the truth of what transpired, but that didn’t stop the endless speculation.

When Su Can first heard the rumors, he had felt a surge of schadenfreude. Given his Master’s terrifying reputation within the Sect, he assumed that old man was absolutely finished. In the Joyous Union Sect, Li Meng was destined to become a rat cornered in the street, hated and beaten by everyone.

But the result was completely beyond Su Can’s expectations.

Public opinion did not overwhelmingly side with his Master. In fact, many voices questioned why a Supreme Elder would lower herself to bully an old man. Bizarrely, no one seemed to care at all about the old man destroying his Master’s precious spirit plants.

Su Meng narrowed his eyes slightly, sizing up Li Meng from afar. A cold, cynical smile tugged at his lips before he withdrew his gaze.

“His name is on the Name List Stele. Su Can, take this news and inform Master immediately.”

Su Can’s expression froze. He turned his head to glance at the giant Name List Stele.

Upon seeing the characters, a malicious sneer spread across his face.

A mere early-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator dares to participate in the Inner Disciple Grand Competition? Old man, you are courting death yourself. Don’t blame us for what happens next.

“Yes, Senior Brother!”

Su Can turned, leaping into the air and riding the wind into the distance.

“Look, it’s Senior Sister Liu from Danwang Peak!”

The Outer and Inner Disciples across the surrounding peaks suddenly erupted into a frenzy. Almost every pair of eyes snapped towards the distant sky.

A breathtakingly beautiful scene unfolded above the clouds. A group of graceful figures wearing purple rainbow skirts rode the wind, trailing trails of Qi behind them.

The woman at the forefront wore a pure white dress. Her immortal bearing was peerless, her long hair dancing in the wind. Almost all eyes in the arena fixated on her alone.

That snow-white, jade-like face carried a faint, ethereal smile. Like a fairy descending to the mortal realm, she landed gracefully on the peak directly next to Li Meng’s group.

Li Meng glanced casually at the woman in white.

Qi Wei also eyed the newcomer on the neighboring peak, her nose scrunching up.

“Her name is Liu Ruyu,” Qi Wei whispered. “She is considered a top-tier talent in the alchemy path within the Danwang Peak lineage. But compared to you, Senior Brother, she is far inferior. Hmph, completely not worth mentioning.”

A mere Foundation Establishment stage Alchemist.

Let alone a single Foundation Establishment Alchemist—even if all the Alchemists of Danwang Peak combined their skills, they wouldn’t be worth a single finger of her Senior Brother.

Neither of them used Divine Sense to communicate. The people standing around them heard Qi Wei’s words loud and clear.

Liu Ruyu seemed to notice the commotion from their direction. Her beautiful eyes shifted over, and she offered a charming, magnanimous smile.

From her peak, she cupped her hands in a polite salute.

Li Meng smiled easily and cupped his hands in return. Towards someone with whom he had no grudges, it was natural to maintain proper etiquette.

She was indeed a stunning beauty. However, Li Meng had no shortage of beauties constantly surrounding him. While Liu Ruyu was beautiful, she lacked that truly breathtaking aura that would make his heart race.

After returning the salute, Li Meng withdrew his gaze, sweeping his eyes over the other peaks surrounding the Martial Arena.

Today was the Inner Disciple Grand Competition. Why hadn’t Junior Sister Xue arrived yet?

Just as Li Meng was pondering her absence, his gaze locked onto a distant summit.

Junior Sister Xue had finally arrived!

She stood completely alone at the very top of the peak. Her attire had changed. Gone was the standard purple rainbow skirt. Today, she wore a striking, dark cyan dress that accentuated her cool temperament.

Xue Ruyu.

“Junior Sister, come over to Senior Brother’s side,” Li Meng called out using a Divine Sense transmission.

On the opposite peak, Xue Ruyu’s expression shifted slightly. She turned her head, looking towards her Senior Brother and the flock of women surrounding him.

“I’m not going. Senior Brother’s side is too crowded!” Xue Ruyu shot back via Divine Sense, her tone dripping with distinct sarcasm.

A faint, teasing smile appeared at the corner of Li Meng’s mouth.

“If you don’t come over, then Senior Brother will have to come over and find you.”

Xue Ruyu glared at him from across the expanse. “Find me for what?”

Li Meng’s smile widened. His eyes locked onto hers with intoxicating warmth. “You’ll know when Senior Brother comes over.”

“Don’t… I’m coming over right now!”

A trace of flustered helplessness flashed in Xue Ruyu’s eyes.
