Chapter 210: Master, He Insulted Me!

He cupped his massive hands and bowed deeply towards the tiny Qi Wei.

“Junior Sister’s Qi-based techniques are peerless. This Senior Brother sincerely admits defeat. I concede!”

As he spoke, the burly Inner Disciple body cultivator turned. With a look of extreme unwillingness etched onto his face, he rode the wind and flew away from the peak.

“What exactly happened?”

The observing Outer and Inner Disciples were driven frantic with confusion.

She had felled him with a single finger? What kind of terrifying, unfathomable divine ability was this?

“Masked Moon Peak, Qi Wei, three victories!” Mu Jiu’er’s crisp voice rang out from the Name List Stele.

Qi Wei giggled. Her small body rose on the wind, floating triumphantly back towards the peak where her Senior Brother watched.

On a mountain peak not far from Martial Arts Peak, Cao Yuan descended on the wind, landing inside a pavilion at the summit.

Beside the stone table in the pavilion sat a towering figure. The man wore gray martial attire, his long hair bound tightly in a crown.

Outside the pavilion, Cao Yuan dropped to his knees with a heavy thud. He knelt with so much force that the stone floor beneath him cracked and splintered.

“Master, he insulted me!”

Cao Yuan clutched his chest, his face contorted in a mask of extreme sorrow and regret, as if he had suffered a mortal grievance.

Cao Zhen, the man sitting beside the stone table, merely glanced at his disciple. “Is your Dao Heart stable?”

Cao Yuan immediately dropped his hand. He looked up and grinned widely at his Master. “Stable! In fact, it feels great!”

Cao Zhen returned the grin. “Then why are you putting on an act out there?”

Cao Yuan chuckled sheepishly. He quickly stood up, entered the pavilion, and took a seat beside the stone table. He grabbed the teapot and gulped down a massive mouthful directly from the spout.

Slamming the teapot down, Cao Yuan scratched his head. “Master, do we really have to go to Kongming Hall?”

If he continued participating in the Inner Disciple Grand Competition, he might be matched against Junior Sister Qi in the next round. If he really had to face that little monster again, it would be far too embarrassing.

Cao Zhen shot him a side-eye and leisurely sipped his tea. “Then go train in the outer seas instead. Kongming Hall was never suitable for body cultivators anyway. The various restrictions and formations inside are unpredictable and treacherous—mysterious to even gods and ghosts. A single misstep could lead to death and the dissipation of your Dao. It’s really not suitable for people without brains.”

Cao Yuan’s lips twitched. Wasn’t his Master just calling him brainless?

Fine, so he didn’t have brains. So what? Why waste brainpower on problems that could be solved with brute force? Fists were the greatest brains of all.

Cao Yuan turned his head to look towards Martial Arts Peak. “Master, is there something hidden behind this year’s Inner Disciple Grand Competition?”

It was a gut feeling. A very intense feeling. Even someone as ‘brainless’ as him could sense the shifting undercurrents. If he felt it, many other Outer and Inner Disciples likely felt it too.

Cao Zhen smiled. He picked up the teapot and poured himself a fresh cup. “Those two spots are fixed. No matter what he does, the Enforcement Hall and the Supreme Elders will not question it.”

Cao Yuan immediately thought of Junior Brother Li and Junior Sister Qi. Were the “two people” his Master mentioned referring to them?

Cao Yuan snatched the teapot back from his Master’s hand. “Master, Junior Brother Li and Junior Sister Qi are only at the early stage of Foundation Establishment. What does the Sect mean by this?”

Cao Zhen turned his gaze towards Martial Arts Peak, his eyes growing profound. “Kongming Hall has been present in this world for nearly three thousand years. It is time for this greatest Fated Chance of the Tianlan Continent to finally choose its master.”

Cao Yuan scoffed. “It’s been three thousand years, and no one has ever succeeded!”

No one even knew which ancient powerhouse had left Kongming Hall behind. Even Great Vehicle stage cultivators were utterly helpless against its defenses. They could only leave the supreme treasure sitting there, untouched.

Joyous Union Sect. Inner Disciple Territory. Martial Arts Peak.

The Inner Disciple Grand Competition raged on.

The names on the Name List Stele were continuously rearranged. Seven Inner Disciples had already secured their advancement to the next round. By the third day, the first round of the competition finally concluded.

“The first round has ended with a total of 33 people advancing. The second round will adopt a free challenge format. The challenger who takes the field may designate any opponent whose name remains on the Name List Stele. The loser is eliminated; the winner advances to the third round. Those who are passed over will automatically advance!”

With the first round finally over, the observing Outer and Inner Disciples visibly perked up.

Those who made it to the second round were the masters among masters. At the very least, their strength was now beyond doubt.

Li Meng looked at the Name List Stele. Su Meng’s name was etched clearly on the stone.

Should I eliminate Su Meng now?

Li Meng swept his gaze over the peaks surrounding the Martial Arena. On an opposite peak, he spotted Su Meng watching him.

If Su Meng secured a spot to enter Kongming Hall, he would undoubtedly use the lawless environment inside to cause trouble.

Forget it. It’s a hassle either way. Better to resolve it permanently.

The Inner Disciple Grand Competition was ultimately just a minor scuffle. Even stepping on Su Meng publicly here would be meaningless. Only by reducing the source of trouble to ash could peace be truly guaranteed.

Li Meng soared into the air, riding the wind down into the Martial Arena.

On the cliffside, the expressions of the women shifted subtly. A flash of surprise passed through their eyes. None of them had expected Senior Brother to take the initiative and be the very first to enter the field. It didn’t suit his usual indifferent character at all.

Landing gracefully, Li Meng looked up at the Name List Stele.

“Senior Brother Jia Zijin, come down and battle!” Li Meng’s clear, resonant voice echoed across Martial Arts Peak.

Seeing Li Meng take the field first, Su Meng—who had been extremely tense—breathed a heavy sigh of relief. If Junior Brother Li had challenged him in this second round, he would have been forced to reveal his hidden trump cards just to survive.

“Junior Brother Li’s Qi-based techniques are peerless! This Senior Brother is in awe. I concede!”

Jia Zijin didn’t even bother entering the arena. He shouted his surrender directly from the sidelines.

On a stone platform halfway up a distant mountain peak, Jia Zijin stood at the edge of the cliff with a bitter smile. He hadn’t expected Junior Brother Li to target him the moment the round began. Was he being treated as a soft persimmon, easy to crush?

Fortunately, he had never harbored any delusions of making it into the top five anyway. Even by conceding now, he could still participate in the lower ranking matches.

In the Martial Arena, Li Meng chuckled. He casually cupped his hands and bowed towards the peak where Jia Zijin stood. “Senior Brother Jia, I accept your concession!”

On the stone platform, Jia Zijin cupped his hands in return.

With the matter settled, Li Meng flew up, riding the wind back towards the peak where the women waited.

“Senior Brother, it’s my turn!”

Seeing her Senior Brother return, Qi Wei bounced on the balls of her feet, eager to jump into the arena.

Li Meng just smiled and pressed a hand down on her head. “Little Junior Sister, just wait to be passed over.”

The manner of his Little Junior Sister’s victories in the first round had been far too bizarre. Even if the other disciples suspected something fishy was going on, absolutely no one would dare risk challenging her and suffering the same humiliating, blood-spitting fate.

A flash of disappointment dimmed Qi Wei’s eyes. She had looked so majestic in the first round! She had wanted to show off her prestige again. Now, she wouldn’t even get the chance.

The result played out exactly as Li Meng predicted. The second round lasted a mere half-day. Little Junior Sister was completely ignored by the challengers and successfully secured a bye.

“Seventeen names remain on the stele. Tomorrow, the third round of matches will be held. Anyone who fails to arrive will be considered to have forfeited!”

The victors of the previous two rounds had consumed vast amounts of spiritual energy. They needed a break to recover their strength.

Mu Jiu’er was the first to depart from the Name List Stele. Her skirts fluttered in the wind like a celestial maiden ascending to the heavens as she flew away from the peak.

With Mu Jiu’er’s departure, the sky above Martial Arts Peak suddenly erupted with dense flashes of sword light.

The Outer and Inner Disciples dispersed gracefully, like celestial maidens scattering flowers, riding their flying swords away from Martial Arts Peak. In less than twenty breaths, the originally bustling peak fell into deep silence.

Only a scattered few remained, sitting cross-legged in the arena, meditating and regulating their breath as they waited for tomorrow to arrive.
