Chapter 195: Yin Locust Wood and Yin Spring Iron

Despite his ability to casually unleash Talismans of any Tier, the true reason for Li Meng’s seamless execution was simple: he drew them himself.

Ordinary cultivators could not match this speed. They required time to channel their Qi to activate store-bought Talismans. To effectively boost Little Junior Sister’s combat power, he would have to focus on Magical Artifacts.

“Junior Sister, what kind of Magical Artifact do you desire?” Li Meng asked, his tone indulgent.

Ignoring the hypocritical divide between the righteous and evil paths, Qi Wei’s Lunar Body was actually perfectly suited for Ghost cultivation and Demonic Arts. It was an innate resonance with the Great Dao. If she walked that path, her cultivation would yield twice the result with half the effort.

Qi Wei reached out with a small hand and patted the Storage Bag at her waist.

A pitch-black branch shot out, followed by a dark, heavy stone. The two items hovered in the air between them.

“Master told me to give these to Senior Brother!”

[Millennium Yin Locust Wood: Possesses the ability to devour souls and seize spirits; highly prone to developing sentience.] [Millennium Yin Spring Iron: Rare metal ore eroded over the centuries by Yin Spring Baleful Qi.]

Li Meng flicked his sleeve, casually sweeping the priceless Millennium Yin Locust Wood and Millennium Yin Spring Iron into his own storage.

He instantly deduced the path his Junior Sister was taking. She was to be a Sword Cultivator. The Ancestor clearly wanted him to use these rare materials to forge her a Lifebound Flying Sword.

“Senior Brother, what does Master mean by this?” Qi Wei asked, her face full of curiosity. The Ancestor hadn’t explained anything, merely instructing her to hand the materials over.

Li Meng chuckled lightly, taking a leisurely sip of his tea.

“Junior Sister, the Ancestor wants me to forge a Lifebound Flying Sword for you!”

“A Lifebound Flying Sword?” Qi Wei’s eyes lit up. She looked at him with an expectant, hopeful expression. “Senior Brother, can you really do it?”

Li Meng laughed, stroking his beard with the opulent confidence of a grandmaster. “Underestimating your Senior Brother, aren’t you? A mere Lifebound Flying Sword cannot stump me.”

The difficulty of forging a Lifebound Flying Sword was incomparable to ordinary Magical Artifacts. They possessed growth characteristics and required highly specialized forging methods. Ordinary artifact forgers wouldn’t dare touch them. Most Sword Cultivators were forced to forge their own blades. Although the resulting sword embryos were usually crude and full of impurities, they could be slowly refined through day and night refining.

Qi Wei pursed her lips into a sweet smile. “Senior Brother, you are so good to me!”

“Your Senior Brother is happy to do it,” Li Meng replied smoothly.

Qi Wei’s eyes curved into happy crescents as she sipped her tea.

[+10 Affection] [+50 Sub-profession Experience]

Li Meng relaxed in his chair. Junior Sister’s Affection had finally hit 90. At least the little girl still had some conscience.

“Junior Sister.”

“Hmm? What is it, Senior Brother?” Qi Wei tilted her head.

“Why does Master want you to go to Kongming Hall?”

She had only just reached Foundation Establishment. Yet, before she had even broken through, the Ancestor had already secured her a spot for the expedition. There had to be a powerful motive behind sending her into such peril.

Qi Wei put down her teacup. Her small body stood up, and she carried the teapot over to Li Meng, dutifully pouring him a fresh cup.

“Kongming Hall has a Spirit Washing Pool,” she explained. “Master said soaking in the Spirit Washing Pool will be greatly beneficial for my Golden Core formation!”

Li Meng’s face showed understanding. So the Ancestor had his eye on the Spirit Washing Pool.

“The Spirit Washing Pool isn’t in the inner hall, is it?” Li Meng frowned.

The inner hall of Kongming Hall was a slaughterhouse for Nascent Soul old monsters. For a mere Foundation Establishment cultivator to enter that zone was truly Nine deaths and one life.

Qi Wei waved her small hand, sending the teapot floating back to the table. She pursed her lips into a smile and leaned her small body against his chair’s armrest.

“Don’t worry, Senior Brother! Master has a map of the inner hall. It charts a safe path around the high-risk Restrictions. Plus, with the Sword Nurturing Gourd that Master gave me for protection, nothing will happen!”

Li Meng reached out and lightly flicked her forehead.

“I won’t let you venture into the inner hall alone,” Li Meng declared casually. “After we sweep through the spirit herbs in the Minor Spirit Realm, I will take you there myself.”

His Divine Firmament Earth Shrinking Talismans could ignore Restrictions. If the Tier 1 Talismans failed, he would just forge Tier 2. If those failed, he would demand Tier 6 or 7 Demon Beast hides from the Ancestor to craft Tier 3 Talismans. With his wealth, brute-forcing the problem was inevitable.

Qi Wei giggled. Climbing into Li Meng’s embrace, she leaned up and planted a loud kiss directly on his cheek.

“Senior Brother, you are the best!”

Feeling the lingering wetness on his cheek, Li Meng chuckled and wrapped an arm around her small frame. She was simply too adorable. Raising her as a younger sister or a daughter was actually quite a pleasant thought.

Click.

The pavilion door unlatched from the inside.

Leng Yixue stepped out into the courtyard. When her cold eyes landed on the two figures laughing and chatting intimately on the reclining chair, a trace of confusion flickered in her gaze.

This young girl is so close to Junior Brother Li… Leng Yixue examined the girl. Upon closer inspection, she actually bore a slight resemblance to him. Her small face was crystal clear, exquisite as if carved from white jade.

Could it be that Junior Brother’s mortal daughter has found her way to the Sect? Before the thought could fully form, her Divine Sense swept over the girl’s cultivation base.

Early Foundation Establishment? Leng Yixue immediately dismissed her own ridiculous theory.

Maintaining her icy facade, Leng Yixue walked toward them and sat down at the tea table.

“Junior Brother, who is this?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Before Li Meng could introduce her, Qi Wei spoke up from his embrace.

“Masked Moon Peak True Disciple, ‘Qi Wei’,” her tender, lively voice rang out. Her small hands gripped Li Meng’s lapels tightly as she leveled a scrutinizing gaze at Leng Yixue. “Senior Sister, why are you at my Senior Brother’s place?”

Her tone carried a distinct hint of territorial questioning.

Leng Yixue looked at Li Meng. How was she supposed to answer that?

Li Meng chuckled, reaching out to ruffle Qi Wei’s hair. “Senior Sister Leng’s Master is ill and is being treated here by me. Senior Sister is temporarily staying here to take care of Senior Leng!”

Qi Wei’s face cleared with understanding. Beaming with pride, she blinked playfully at Leng Yixue.

“Senior Sister came to the right place. My Senior Brother is really amazing!”

Leng Yixue shot Li Meng a deeply complex look before nodding. “Junior Sister is right. Junior Brother is indeed very amazing.”

Was she really just here to take care of her Master? While it was the truth, the way Li Meng dismissed her presence left a faint trace of resentment in Leng Yixue’s eyes.

Li Meng smoothly flicked his sleeve, placing a fresh set of tea utensils in front of Leng Yixue.

For the rest of the afternoon, the three of them drank tea and discussed the Dao.

It wasn’t until the sun dipped below the western peaks that Qi Wei finally stood to take her leave.

“Senior Brother,” Qi Wei said, tugging on his sleeve in the courtyard. She looked up at him, acting pitifully coquettish. “Master said that since I just reached Foundation Establishment, I shouldn’t run around. I need to properly undergo Secluded Cultivation for Root Strengthening. And after returning from Kongming Hall, I’ll have to disperse my cultivation and start over again!”

Li Meng smiled warmly, rubbing her head. “Focus on your cultivation. Listen to the Ancestor’s arrangements.”

Qi Wei let go of his sleeve, her cheeks flushing a faint shade of pink. Summoning her courage, she stared directly into his eyes.

“I… I kissed Senior Brother earlier,” she stammered, her voice dropping to a whisper. “So… Senior Brother has to kiss me too!”
