Chapter 239: Qi Wei Climbing the Wall

Li Meng’s thoughts drifted briefly to Junior Sister Shui’er. His entanglement with this mother and daughter pair ran deep—perhaps it was a karmic bond woven long before he arrived.

“Rise.”

He flicked his sleeve, and a gentle gust of wind lifted Wei Yushu from her bow.

“I have my own plans regarding Prince Qi’s matter,” he said calmly. “For now, Princess Consort, let me guide you onto the Path of Cultivation.”

Wei Yushu imitated the etiquette she had seen in stories, clasping her hands and bowing deeply.

“Then I entrust myself to the Immortal Master!”

[System Notification: Wei Yushu Favorability +20] [Sub-profession Experience +100]

“Immortal Master… what should this humble one do?” Her beautiful eyes looked at him with trusting anticipation.

“Sit down,” Li Meng instructed. “Turn your back to me, and remove your upper garments.”

“Remove… my clothes?”

Wei Yushu’s cheeks flushed a deep crimson. She looked at him with a gaze that was equal parts resentment and embarrassment. She was the Princess Consort, a woman of noble status. How could she disrobe before another man?

But facing Li Meng’s utterly calm, professional gaze—clear as a mountain spring—her hesitation faltered.

She let out a soft sigh. The desire for longevity outweighed her mortal modesty.

She turned around, presenting her back to him. Her trembling fingers untied the sash at her waist and slipped the heavy brocade robe off her shoulders.

As the silk slid down, it revealed a back of pure, creamy white jade.

Wei Yushu crossed her arms over her chest to cover herself, her face burning.

“Immortal Master… is this alright?”

Li Meng narrowed his eyes, taking in the exquisite, trembling landscape before him. A faint, appreciative smile touched his lips, but he kept his voice steady.

He flicked his sleeve, and a stone stool slid silently across the floor to rest behind her. He sat down.

A Talisman Brush materialized in his hand, the tip glowing with faint spiritual light.

“Princess Consort, the process will be painful. You may cry out, but I ask that you hold your breath and do not move. If you struggle, the spiritual ink may deviate, causing unpredictable harm to your meridians. A cultivator’s path lies within themselves; whether you can take this first step depends entirely on your will.”

His voice echoed in her ears, grounding her. Wei Yushu took a deep, shuddering breath.

“Immortal Master, begin!”

Li Meng concentrated his spirit. The brush descended, landing on her shoulder blade.

Wei Yushu’s delicate body trembled. She bit her lip, resisting the strange, tickling sensation of the brush tip sliding across her skin.

But soon, the tickling gave way to heat.

A flow of scorching warmth followed the brush, growing increasingly violent. It felt as if liquid fire was drilling through her pores, seeking the dormant meridians deep within her body.

On her jade-like back, golden characters began to take shape.

As Li Meng drew, wisps of ambient Spiritual Qi from Heaven and Earth began to converge on the pavilion. Even before the array was complete, the air grew heavy and charged.

Wei Yushu’s skin turned a flushed pink from the heat.

“Princess Consort, can you feel the warmth?” Li Meng asked softly from behind.

Wei Yushu was drenched in cold sweat, her knuckles white as she gripped her arms.

“Immortal Master… it is… so hot… I can hardly hold on…” Her voice trembled.

The brush in Li Meng’s hand did not stop; it accelerated.

“Hold your breath. Concentrate your spirit. Empty your thoughts. Do not fight the heat—guide it. Feel the source of the pain and accept it.”

His voice carried a magnetic quality, compelling her to obey. Wei Yushu closed her eyes, sinking her consciousness into the scorching fire on her back.

Outside the Pavilion

Just as the two inside were focused, a small head popped up over the wall of the separate courtyard.

Qi Wei lay prone on the tiles, peeking at the activity in the lakeside pavilion.

“What are Senior Brother and that woman doing?”

The pavilion was draped in layers of gauze, blurring the figures inside into silhouettes. Qi Wei dared not use her Divine Sense; Senior Brother would detect her instantly.

Suddenly, a gentle breeze swept across the lake, lifting the curtains for a fleeting second.

Qi Wei’s eyes widened.

“Hmph! Senior Brother is doing something bad!”

She clearly saw Senior Brother sitting behind the Princess Consort, whose upper body was completely exposed. That flash of white skin was blinding.

“Senior Brother shouldn’t be that kind of person, right?”

The Princess Consort was a mortal. Senior Brother wouldn’t do something so pointless. He said he was helping her guide Qi… perhaps this was just a necessary step?

Qi Wei puffed out her cheeks but continued to watch, her chin resting on her folded arms.

Nightfall

Time passed.

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted. The ambient Spiritual Qi, which had been trickling toward the pavilion, accelerated into a rush. A vortex formed above the roof, invisible to mortals but glaringly obvious to a cultivator.

Then, just as quickly, it dispersed.

Inside the pavilion, Wei Yushu collapsed.

Her face was deathly pale, her body limp and powerless. She fell backward, landing softly in Li Meng’s arms.

Li Meng caught her, supporting her plump, delicate body against his chest. Her hands hung weakly at her sides, leaving her front completely exposed.

“Don’t… don’t look…” she whispered, her voice weak and pleading.

Li Meng’s expression remained calm. He reached around and pulled her dress up, covering her dignity with practiced ease.

“Immortal Master… I…”

Li Meng scooped her up into a princess carry. He looked down at her exhausted, sweat-drenched face.

“Don’t speak. You need rest. Leave the rest to me.”

He carried her out of the pavilion and across the stone bridge, heading toward the attic guest room.

“Did it… succeed?” she murmured against his shoulder.

“The answer lies within your heart. You need not doubt.”

A faint smile appeared on Wei Yushu’s lips. The Immortal Master was trustworthy. Her daughters respected him, and now she understood why. He was a true gentleman.

Outside Guan Shui Yuan

After settling the Princess Consort, Li Meng left the courtyard.

“Senior Brother!”

As soon as he stepped out of the gate, a familiar voice chirped from behind a pillar. A small head peeked out.

Li Meng stopped and smiled, beckoning to her.

Qi Wei’s eyes curved into crescent moons. She scampered out, skipping and hopping until she reached him.

Li Meng reached out and ruffled her head. “Junior Sister, have you been waiting long?”

Qi Wei’s eyes rolled. She was about to lie, but then she just smiled bashfully and hugged his arm.

“It’s okay! Just a tiny little while!”

Li Meng took her small hand and led her down the corridor. “It’s late. Let’s go back.”

“Mhm!”

As they walked away, their figures fading into the lantern-lit darkness, Qi Wei looked up at him.

“Senior Brother… how is that woman?”

“What ‘that woman’? She will be your Junior Sister in the future.”

“She isn’t yet! Senior Brother, you’re biased!”

“This is called biased? You little vinegar jar.”

“It is biased! You scolded me because of her!”

“Who scolded you? Junior Sister, don’t wrongfully accuse good people.”
