Chapter 257: Restoring Youth and the Rejuvenation Pill
Thinking about it was one thing; daring to do it was another matter entirely.
Click.
The door opened from the inside. Liu Ruyu walked out, her face expressionless.
Behind the closed door, Liu Ruyan’s jade-like face flushed red.
Heavens. To think she would actually say such embarrassing words to her Master.
Liu Ruyu turned away with a touch of melancholy. Was she really going to find Junior Brother Li now?
No… better to wait a little longer.
On the other side of the ship, Li Meng did not return to his room after leaving Senior Sister Liu. Instead, he headed toward another room.
“Senior Han?”
Rounding a corner, Li Meng saw a familiar figure leaning against the railing of the corridor, gazing out at the sea of clouds.
Li Meng stepped forward and cupped his hands calmly. “Is Senior Han waiting for this Junior?”
Han Li glanced at him, his face impassive. He waved his hand dismissively.
“Go on.”
Li Meng gave an awkward smile. It seemed Senior Wen was somewhat angry.
Li Meng had wanted to see Senior Wen as soon as he returned to the ship, but he had been delayed by some matters.
“Yes, Senior Han!”
Li Meng hurried away.
Han Li listened to the fading footsteps, a trace of bitterness curling his lips.
He wished he could be the one to change his Junior Sister. But he understood, with painful clarity, that he could never be that person. No matter how bitter this fruit was, he had to swallow it. For the sake of longevity, this was a necessary trial.
If he could pass this hurdle, the Great Dao of Longevity might not be so unattainable.
Li Meng walked down the long corridor at a leisurely pace, muttering to himself.
“I really don’t know what Senior Han is thinking.”
If it were him, he would never choose this path. Nothing in the world remained unchanged forever; even stone weathered with time. Senior Han was simply too afraid to alter the complex dynamic between him and Senior Wen. He was passive. If he had been proactive, perhaps Senior Wen’s Heart Demon would have been eliminated long ago.
People were fickle, and Senior Wen was no exception.
“Perhaps Senior Han understands everything,” Li Meng sighed. How could a Golden Core cultivator be a fool?
He plucked a stray hair from his beard. Ouch. The sharp pain made him wince.
“Why torture myself with these messy thoughts? Keep it simple. Approaching Senior Wen is a transaction with Senior Han, yes, but she is also an interesting woman. If I can eliminate her Heart Demon, I just shouldn’t betray her sincerity.”
He stroked his chin. Everyone loved beauty, and Senior Wen was a great beauty. Her innate arrogance only stirred a man’s desire to conquer.
But would a woman like her truly give her heart to a man?
Li Meng’s eyes flashed with a hint of confusion. The human heart was most complex. Affection could not represent everything.
He arrived at her door. He didn’t knock. He paused for three breaths, then pushed the door open and walked in.
The room was quiet. He walked unhurriedly toward the inner chamber and lifted the partition curtain without pause.
“Get out!”
A cold, clear voice lashed out from inside.
Li Meng smiled.
Get out? Impossible.
He entered the inner chamber with a beaming smile. Senior Wen was sitting sideways on the window seat, leaning against the sill. Her beautiful face was covered in frost as she glared at him.
Li Meng dropped his smile, adopting a solemn expression. He stopped about ten feet away and bowed deeply.
“For the trip to Lin’an City, thank you, Senior Wen, for protecting my path!”
Wen Huanhuan stared blankly at him. Suspicion flickered in her eyes.
“What are you doing?”
“Naturally, expressing my gratitude toward you, Senior Wen!”
Wen Huanhuan fell silent. She turned her cold face away, looking out the window.
“Get out. I don’t want to see you right now.”
Li Meng straightened his back. A lecherous grin spread across his face.
He walked over and, without any invitation, sat down right beside her. He reached out and wrapped his arms around her warm, soft body.
Wen Huanhuan frowned, turning to glare at the audacious Junior.
Li Meng showed no fear. He leaned in, puckering his lips to kiss her.
Wen Huanhuan turned her head sharply, dodging him.
Li Meng wasn’t discouraged. He just tightened his embrace.
“Senior,” he whispered, “my gratitude can’t be expressed by a simple bow. I am utterly sincere! I wish I could tear my heart out to show you. I was just teasing you before. Look, when I’m serious, I can also be dignified… possess an immortal demeanor… elegant, refined, full of righteousness…”
“Shut up!”
Wen Huanhuan covered his mouth with her hand, rolling her eyes.
“Tell me,” she demanded, “how many of those words are true?”
Li Meng smiled against her palm, then gently grabbed her wrist.
“Well, I can’t tear my heart out. I worked hard to reach Foundation Establishment; dying now would be a huge loss. But…”
He pulled her hand away and used his grip on her waist to pull her flush against his chest. Her voluptuous body fell into his embrace.
Wen Huanhuan pinched his arm hard. Does this brat really think acting like a rogue will work on me?
Li Meng looked down at her face, inches from his own. Their eyes met, neither willing to look away.
“All the other words are true. Absolutely true.”
Wen Huanhuan gave a cold, skeptical laugh. She turned her head away and closed her eyes, refusing to engage with his nonsense.
Seeing her close her eyes, Li Meng chuckled.
He leaned forward and kissed her red lips.
This time, she didn’t dodge.
He tasted the long-awaited sweetness. They sat on the window seat, locked in a passionate embrace. Wen Huanhuan’s cheeks gradually flushed red.
After a long while, Li Meng pulled back.
Wen Huanhuan’s eyelids fluttered. She slowly opened her eyes, looking at him.
“Shave your beard,” she murmured. “It’s prickly.”
Li Meng froze. He touched his chin.
Hmm. It is a bit prickly.
“That won’t do,” he said solemnly. “Without a beard, I lose my ‘immortal, dignified’ aura. However… if this Junior is fortunate enough to form a Golden Core, I could refine a batch of Rejuvenation Pills to reshape my body and restore my youth.”
