Chapter 267: Sleeping Dragon Island
In the time that followed, Li Meng and Senior Sister Liu Ruyu drank tea and discussed the Dao, the topic naturally revolving around alchemy. They delved deep into pill formulas until the sun set in the west, painting the cabin in twilight hues. Only then did Li Meng leave her room.
Middle Pavilion
“Cultivate, cultivate, cultivate!”
Qi Wei seemed exceptionally happy. Her small body scrambled onto the bed with practiced ease. Sitting on the edge, she swung her legs back and forth, chanting her mantra like a nursery rhyme.
Seeing her joy, a smile touched Li Meng’s lips.
He flicked his sleeve.
Bang.
The window slammed shut, sealing the room.
Li Meng walked over and ruffled her hair. Qi Wei’s eyes curved into happy crescents, and she gave him a sweet smile.
He climbed onto the bed and pulled the heavy curtains closed. As he sat cross-legged, Qi Wei crawled into his lap, settling into her familiar spot.
“Junior Sister, open up.”
She obeyed instantly.
Swish.
Six pills flew from Li Meng’s Sword Nurturing Gourd. Three for him, three for her. They swallowed them in sync.
Li Meng held her close with one arm while forming a seal with his free hand. He closed his eyes. Qi Wei leaned against his chest and did the same.
No flashy lights appeared. Instead, the space around them warped. Their Divine Senses merged, achieving a seamless Soul Connection.
Ten breaths later, Li Meng formed another seal.
Whoosh!
Seven golden talismans shot from the gourd. Two slapped onto their backs; the other five pinned themselves to the corners of the bed.
Under the dual enhancement of the Spirit Gathering Talismans and the Spirit Gathering Array, the ambient Spiritual Qi of Heaven and Earth rushed toward them like a tide.
But that wasn’t enough.
A flood of Spirit Stones poured from the gourd, piling up into small mountains around them. Visible spiritual mist drifted from the stones, forming dense streams that surged into their bodies.
Only then did Li Meng relax. Both he and Qi Wei were monstrous consumers of resources. Pills alone weren’t enough; they needed raw power. Fortunately, his pockets were deep.
Upper Pavilion, Ancestor’s Room
Liu Ruyan reclined on her viewing couch, her curves resembling a beautiful, undulating landscape.
She opened her eyes and smiled faintly.
“He is certainly generous.”
She waved her hand, using her vast Divine Sense to cloak the anomaly of the gathering qi from prying eyes.
Next Door
Liu Ruyu sat at her table, staring at a pill formula. She frowned, then her eyes widened in sudden enlightenment. She stood up excitedly, summoning her furnace—only to freeze.
She was broke.
She lacked the specific spiritual plants needed to test her theory.
With a sigh, she noted down her inspiration and put the furnace away, resolving to visit the market as soon as they landed.
Viewing Platform
Han Li placed a black stone on the chessboard.
Across from him, Wen Huanhuan stared absent-mindedly at the sea.
“Does my wife have something on her mind?” Han Li asked gently.
Wen Huanhuan glanced at him. Her expression was unreadable.
“Senior Brother,” she said softly, “call me ‘Junior Sister’ from now on.”
Han Li’s hand paused over the board. He looked at her, then nodded without hesitation.
“Alright.”
He had always been casual with titles. ‘Wife’ in public, ‘Junior Sister’ in private—it had never mattered to her before. But today, she drew a line.
Han Li thought of Li Meng. Did something happen between them?
Seeing him agree so readily, a complex emotion flashed in Wen Huanhuan’s eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, then hesitated.
“If Junior Sister has troubles, you can tell me,” Han Li encouraged.
She picked up a white stone and placed it on the board with a sharp click.
“Senior Brother, do you think Senior Lu and Senior Su will go to Sleeping Dragon Island this time?”
Han Li blinked. Why bring up the Supreme Elders?
Lu and Su were the only Dao Companion pair among the Supreme Elders. Last time the Kongming Hall opened, they had caused a massive scene on Sleeping Dragon Island by draining its spiritual veins to form their Nascent Souls. It took Liu Ruyan’s intervention to clean up the mess.
“They probably… will go,” Han Li mused. “They love excitement.”
Wen Huanhuan nodded and fell silent. She had changed the subject deliberately. The matter between her and Li Meng… it was better to keep the status quo for now.
The Heaven-Reaching Spirit Boat cut through the sky. Though it seemed slow against the vast backdrop of the blue heavens, it moved with incredible speed, vanishing into the horizon in the blink of an eye.
Tianlan Continent, Outer Sea Sleeping Dragon Island
Located far to the southwest, Sleeping Dragon Island was the only major landmass in the outer sea. Shaped like a slumbering dragon, it was the primary staging ground for cultivators seeking the Kongming Hall.
Dragon Head Bay, the island’s main port, had been bustling for months. Ferries large and small arrived daily, bringing hopefuls from every corner of the continent.
On this day, a shadow fell over the bay.
The massive Heaven-Reaching Spirit Boat descended from the clouds. As it neared the water, it leveled out, hovering just five zhang above the waves.
“Look! That’s Dragon Head Bay!”
Disciples of the Joyous Union Sect crowded the rails.
Ahead, a small island nestled within the bay’s curve was covered in magnificent buildings. Jade palaces and tiered pavilions stretched as far as the eye could see, radiating an aura of celestial grandeur.
“This is Dragon Head Bay?” one disciple gasped. “I didn’t expect the Kongming Hall to be so far.”
“We must be a hundred thousand li from the mainland.”
“What force controls this island? To build such a city in the desolate outer sea…”
“I heard the Island Master is a Great Cultivator at the late Nascent Soul stage!”
Excited whispers filled the air as the ship glided toward the docks.
